I remember watching this video when it was just a few months old. I was only just 9 then, but it has stuck with me all these years. It is also where I probably got my thing for old military vehicles. I would prefer a CCKW or a Studebaker US6 but these are close enough.
I really enjoyed this video, it's always neat to find anything old in the woods. For anyone that is curious, I decided to post what all three trucks are.The first truck: Is a 1964 International Cargostar 1700. They were widely used as garbage trucks, and heavy duty transport trucks for the U.S. Military in the 1960s.The second truck: Is a 1952 GMC U.S. Military 6x6 "Deuce and a half." These old trucks were mass produced for the Korean War for the U.S. Military. They were mostly used for transporting cargo and soldiers. After the war, many people bought them and used them for mining, logging, offroading, etc...The third truck: Is the same as the second, equiped with a military flatbed rather than the cargo bed with the canvas as most others would have.
For those of you wanting the old military trucks. The worlds longest yard sale starts in alabama had some last year. Looked like they just rolled out of the plant with trailers for 3500.00 some even had 75 gallons of fuel in them. We have seen them every year around Gadsden alabama.
Makes you wonder how many other dumpsites just in north america , could be of some productive use .California is big ,lots of everything including mountains ,beaches, cities, groves of citrus melons grapes strawberries fruits /vegetables even markets and flea markets a airports churches etc wonderful glimpse into the past....thanks for uploading/sharing.
Thanks for video bud.I really did enjoy. As you probably know most of us city folks never get to see any of the countryside, it really is a damned shame. Thanks again buddy.
I miss those times when you could go for a walk in woods and stumble across a automobile. Wonder, why and how the hell did this get there? Those were the days that make me long for my childhood.
Restore these trucks, see which one has an easier time trying to start up and then use the good parts off the other truck to replace so they stay all original bring a buddy to help you start it and bring your other truck home and take it home... thats what i would do
that's pretty cool find, looks like the blue truck been there a lot longer than the deuces, they're not as sunk into the ground, I love finding old stuff in the woods as well. Thanks for posting
Fascinating! If I had to guess I would say some outfit bought the trucks as post WW2 army surplus tried to start a logging business, failed and skipped out rather than pay to dispose of them properly. Thanks for posting!
It's truly awesome to find things like that! I live in MI & just from hunting & even scouting close to home ive found many things such as those just 'left for dead' for no reason...hell even that old cabin was cool, would love to rebuild it! Same with the vehicles, even after so many yrs the doors still open & shut smoothly! Bet I could get them motors back up an runnin fairly easy too! Cool vid
Man those trucks were in fantastic condition it just shows you how well they built those things. And with some tender loving care that engine will probly fire right up
HaHa! First of all love the lunch pack! Second-my friend and I were at this exact location couple days ago. Both trucks are still there plus the blue international flat bed. Both military trucks are still in decent shape even after 7 years since you uploaded this vid.
really cool stuff. Any time I come across any abandoned vehicles here in PA, they've been completely stripped... those trucks all look pretty in-tact for having sat for 30 years.
Really cool video, gotta love finding a little piece of history back there! Oh, and that magic trick you did to open the hood had me laughing my ass off!! Awesome!!
I think it's great how you cut trees down across the trail so your little f-word could drive over them. You say you haven't been back there in a while but yet you had a camera recording the Ranger crawl over 1" diameter trees. Awesome!!! That house is probably the one you actually live in today.
There's something beautifully bleak about abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the middle of the bloody forest. One can sit inside and imagine what it would be like to be a serial killer, or maybe a farmer or something. Those trucks are SO COOL! What on earth are they doing there? BTW, love your lunch - thumbs up!
That's awesome I would love to see one of those old trucks run, I would really like to see that international run again. Sadly, they are going to have to rust in peace. I hope no one else that goes back there and finds there and moves or takes them.
You can run a leaded car on unleaded fuel, but the exhaust valves won't last very long. The lead lubricated the valves, so on unleaded cars they have "hardened" valve seats to prevent damage. A $10 bottle of lead additive solves the problem, or head work to install hardened valve seats. No other changes are required.
Still a cool vid for youtube and I think the military vehicles are cool. The shape they are in looks about right. When I see that kind of stuff I think of what was happening the day they were left there and if those people thought that those trucks would never be recovered. Show more if you can. Great vid!
Front one looks like an m211 with some funky bed. Back one looks to be an M135, looks like the chassis is built for single rears from the size of the mud guard. Yes, they should be 24V systems. Inline 302 six, 50 gallons will get one about 250 miles. dual rear drive shafts, no low range in the transfer, and a one-off Cadillac 4-speed auto that uses engine oil (not atf). Kind of a giant pain in the ass. Cool video, one has to appreciate old abandon "stuff"
those military issue tires are insane we found a couple off a old willys jeep and threw them on a bbq pit and have been sitting for years except for sun baking and dry rot they hold up wonderfully
that is AWESOME! i love when i find stuff like that in the woods to, its very interesting and there is a mystery behind how it gets there, but TRUCKS!??!?!?!? that AWESOME!
Love how both military trucks are auto. It was really hard to find those in auto back then but to find two of them is allsome. Those trucks are worth alot of money now days, and with the first one being a diesel you put some fresh diesel and kerosene mix, and a fresh battery with a jump pack it should start up fairly easy. If you get on my page you will see a video of a 84 deuce and a half that had been sitting for like 6-8 months, turned the key and it fired right up. Well anyway good video.
I love your videos, think of the history this equipment had before being discharged, and the people who made there living with it in the civilian world. ARMY all the way. Vietnam Korea Proud to have served.
Interesting video. That International truck was a mid to late 60's model. It's crazy that it was abandoned when it was only 10-15 years old. Of course if it's worn out, it's worn out...
My nanny was a military truck collector, she used to have an opelblitz aka dueceandahalf on her property. i found the hood , the hood ornament, the axle, and the tires.
I found an Oldsmobile Cutlass in the woods, in decent shape too, but it was dragged out a couple months later and the woods wee turned into a neighborhood sadly.
Those trucks really aren't in too bad of shape compared to what you usually find.. If you can haul em you could probably get a pretty penny for em. The engines looks savable.
When I was in the service back in the early 1970s we still had some automatic 2-1/2 ton trucks but were only used for yard work. The early ones would lock up the rear ends on ice or wet roads if you down shifted to soon, causing many accidents and fatality's. Not like today's autos that sens road speed and control shifting.
These trucks look like they are still in at least decent condition to be restored. I really hope someone such as a collector or something gets to them before they rust out too much further. Someone with the time, tools, and experience could fix those trucks up and restore them!
looking at the model type they where made roughly 1947 , we still had a few in my old guard unit in 1981 , but these long been retired by 1985. These trucks are military , but possible bought on surplus to private owners. More than likely whatever the company was went long out of business and or no longer can find parts for it. The building is possible a old mining chow hall or admin office , nothing in there looks close to a military style building. Cool stuff no less.
It's probably a lumber camp like the other guy below me said. The plate was registered as a civilian vehicle, so it's probably military surplus that someone bought and then just left it. Kinda sad though... thanks for posting!
In a forest, about 15minutes from where i am (by car) there is the remains of a Russian ZPU-4 anti aircraft gun. A war trophy from the 2nd desert storm campaign. It used to sit outside one of the Squadron buildings in a now former nearby Royal Air Force base. Afterwards it was taken away and used for a paintballing club, then towed away and left to rust.
The two military trucks were manufactured by GMC in the 50's. The truck with the dual rear wheels is the M211 and the truck with the single rear wheels is the M135.They have a 302 cubic inch inline six cylinder gas engine.Remember the scene from the first Rambo movie where Rambo steals an army truck and does this awesome jump with it,well that is a GMC M135,just like what you found, only in better condition lol
Dual 2x1/2 Ton trucks out in the middle of nowhere and unclaimed?! I'd get to work on that pet project if I could get my hands on just one! I saw a place that had rows of jeeps still in the casings and lined up for what looked like a mile and wondered 'Why haven't they sold these when I had the cash?' It would be too cool to have the deuce in my driveway and the jeep in my garage!
I do shit like this all the time, I love exploring old houses and abandoned buildings. Plus I collect antique bottles and usually in old places like that you can find an old bottle dump. Although, that house most likely dates from the 20s or 30s so there wouldnt be that many good bottles at that point.
The two military trucks are 1952 GMCs M211 models (I think). The engines should be 302 straight 6s and they were backed up by 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmissions.
Surely some of those parts could be sold... and the grills looked pretty intact, well given the circumstances they looked pretty good. You could put anything you can salvage up for sale on the internet pretty easily.
A couple of deuce and a haves, M-211 6X6, built for the military by GM had Jimmy 302 engines with Heavy duty Hydra-matic transmissions. Used in Korea and Vietnam.
this could have been a old movie set from years ago I would love to have one of these old trucks fixed up I would drive it work everyday just to fuck with people LOL
if those trucks are on your property, you should really look into parting the two together.. it may be worth something, but if not.... it will have sentimental value to you. they are all very nice looking trucks!!!
This is so cool dude! Lets go get some stuff off these old trucks. And by the way looks like California Tags so............ Any way very cool!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!
I think you are right... A couple of days, loads of freinds, even bigger load of tools and that old barracks be as good as new....Running water and everything...
Those deuce and a halfs are pretty tough trucks... From my experience with them it wouldn't take much to get them going... They are 24 bolt systems so take 2 batteries and some fuel and a hammer out there and give it a try, you'll probably be driving it outta of there
The rougher one looks like an old Canvas Top, the tank in the back looks like part of an old boiler. I only got a glimpse but it looks to be riveted for a pressure tank of some kind. Better look closer at that property !!!
I remember watching this video when it was just a few months old. I was only just 9 then, but it has stuck with me all these years. It is also where I probably got my thing for old military vehicles. I would prefer a CCKW or a Studebaker US6 but these are close enough.
Same here man. I would watch this so much when I was a youngster
I really enjoyed this video, it's always neat to find anything old in the woods. M-211 is the service number on the gmc deuce and a halfa to be 100% correct
For those of you wanting the old military trucks. The worlds longest yard sale starts in alabama had some last year. Looked like they just rolled out of the plant with trailers for 3500.00 some even had 75 gallons of fuel in them. We have seen them every year around Gadsden alabama.
I lived in Gadsden in the 70s and was thinking about buying a tracked personnel carrier for geology work I was engaged in down there!
I think its so cool to find these things out in the middle of no where. I find it interesting and how much stories these old things could tell.
I bet if you drain all the fluids, get a fresh battery and change the plugs and wires that beast would start right up.
they don't have spark plugs bud, just glow plugs
Makes you wonder how many other dumpsites just in north america , could be of some productive use .California is big ,lots of everything including mountains ,beaches, cities, groves of citrus melons grapes strawberries fruits /vegetables even markets and flea markets a airports churches etc wonderful glimpse into the past....thanks for uploading/sharing.
ah comeon dude, thats just transformers hiding out :D
lol
+KeL BlueHat That's a good one! Hahaha
You have the perfect beverage to go exploring with. 2 thumbs up brother!
Do a cold start, old start! DO IT!!! :D
Thanks for video bud.I really did enjoy. As you probably know most of us city folks never get to see any of the countryside, it really is a damned shame. Thanks again buddy.
I can sense evil here.
I miss those times when you could go for a walk in woods and stumble across a automobile. Wonder, why and how the hell did this get there? Those were the days that make me long for my childhood.
Cool and interesting video! Anything abandoned and old is right up my alley!
Restore these trucks, see which one has an easier time trying to start up and then use the good parts off the other truck to replace so they stay all original bring a buddy to help you start it and bring your other truck home and take it home... thats what i would do
True
gotta love those old trucks. Great find. Thanks for sharing
what are the salvage laws in the US regarding claiming abandoned vehicles?
Do you know who owns the property ??
Try and find out
If it's abandoned on your property it is possible to get a title for it. I'd say that would be the case in any state.
Yea those trucks are in great condition, even the tyres, be heaps fun fixing them up id paint them as well..
LT must of got them lost lol.
that's pretty cool find, looks like the blue truck been there a lot longer than the deuces, they're not as sunk into the ground, I love finding old stuff in the woods as well. Thanks for posting
tell me were they are and i will go and restore them
Fascinating! If I had to guess I would say some outfit bought the trucks as post WW2 army surplus tried to start a logging business, failed and skipped out rather than pay to dispose of them properly. Thanks for posting!
Ghost spirit EVP at 2:36.
yup heard it
I heard it too. Faint, but you can hear it.
ohshit.jept get the camera
I heard it too. Very very faint
It's truly awesome to find things like that! maybe those trucks were used in filming first part of "rambo" hehehe :D
Rambo was filmed in British Columbia, Canada. These trucks are in California.
Man those trucks were in fantastic condition it just shows you how well they built those things. And with some tender loving care that engine will probly fire right up
wow.... 236 guy is right
HaHa! First of all love the lunch pack! Second-my friend and I were at this exact location couple days ago. Both trucks are still there plus the blue international flat bed. Both military trucks are still in decent shape even after 7 years since you uploaded this vid.
You should really try and get one running! It would be so cool.
Yes!!!
I'll come do it for you
Thanks for sharing those old trucks with us.
You are so living the dream! I will be daydreaming about fixing up that second truck for a while!
really cool stuff. Any time I come across any abandoned vehicles here in PA, they've been completely stripped... those trucks all look pretty in-tact for having sat for 30 years.
love seeing things like this
Really cool video, gotta love finding a little piece of history back there! Oh, and that magic trick you did to open the hood had me laughing my ass off!! Awesome!!
dude great find! I love taking my truck out in the woods and exploring places like this
Thanks for posting this. That was amazing to see the bunk house.
Thanks for making this video. I love visiting abandoned places and seeing abandoned things. :-)
I think it's great how you cut trees down across the trail so your little f-word could drive over them. You say you haven't been back there in a while but yet you had a camera recording the Ranger crawl over 1" diameter trees. Awesome!!! That house is probably the one you actually live in today.

Love your cowboy cadillac. Thanks for the vid, this stuff endlessly fascinates me.
That's awesome I would love to see one of those old trucks run, I would really like to see that international run again. Sadly, they are going to have to rust in peace. I hope no one else that goes back there and finds there and moves or takes them.

Lol, your lunch pack is about the best I've ever seen: Sierras, Sardines and oranges! Frickin' classic man.
The International would make a cool hotrod. The body looked good and sounded pretty solid. Cool video
Still a cool vid for youtube and I think the military vehicles are cool. The shape they are in looks about right. When I see that kind of stuff I think of what was happening the day they were left there and if those people thought that those trucks would never be recovered. Show more if you can. Great vid!
I'd love to get a hold of one of those GMC's. Love those trucks!
I was amazed when you wiggled your hand and the hood opened! lol
You can tell Meth-Heads were there stripping copper from those things.
Front one looks like an m211 with some funky bed. Back one looks to be an M135, looks like the chassis is built for single rears from the size of the mud guard.

you really come by the coolest stuff id like to live around a place like that someday
those military issue tires are insane we found a couple off a old willys jeep and threw them on a bbq pit and have been sitting for years except for sun baking and dry rot they hold up wonderfully
Great video man. Thanks for posting for us to see.
I own a whole field of those. All have a good personality very fun trucks. Also some are for sale!
Those should be restored before they are too far gone.
True
When you first started talking you sounded like bubbles from trailer park boys. Neat video! 👍
I love that there is no graffiti on anything. Just observed and left as is. Nice!
I agree... I hate seeing old trucks all messed up
Where is this truck located at?
that is AWESOME! i love when i find stuff like that in the woods to, its very interesting and there is a mystery behind how it gets there, but TRUCKS!??!?!?!? that AWESOME!
For all the people saying I would love a truck like that go buy a surplus truck from the military, they aren't that expensive to buy at auctions.
Yeah ! me too I kept expecting someone or something to jump out and get cha! Cool ! let take the second truck home and restore it! I love old trucks!
I love your videos, think of the history this equipment had before being discharged, and the people who made there living with it in the civilian world. ARMY all the way. Vietnam Korea Proud to have served.
People like you are the reason why horror movies are still made :D
I fell in love when I saw your truck HAHA I have an 87 STX

wow would never think 1,279, 679 people wanted to see some abandoned truck in the woods amazing !!!
Am I seeing that right? Those deuces appear to have automatic transmissions?
When I was in the service back in the early 1970s we still had some automatic 2-1/2 ton trucks but were only used for yard work. The early ones would lock up the rear ends on ice or wet roads if you down shifted to soon, causing many accidents and fatality's. Not like today's autos that sens road speed and control shifting.
You are seeing right! These are the M211 series Duece and they had auto transmissions.
my dad has a couple of these. roughest shifting autos ever lol
These trucks look like they are still in at least decent condition to be restored. I really hope someone such as a collector or something gets to them before they rust out too much further. Someone with the time, tools, and experience could fix those trucks up and restore them!

"I got my lunch packed..." A 6 pack of beer, a can of sardines, 3 oranges and car keys... Prepared for the worst.
It's probably a lumber camp like the other guy below me said. The plate was registered as a civilian vehicle, so it's probably military surplus that someone bought and then just left it. Kinda sad though... thanks for posting!
"Hope I don't fall through." That wood may be broken, but it's not rotten, at least not visually.

Why did they get left there? Did they get attacked by something?
Really cool. I'm a history buff and this really got to me.
Dual 2x1/2 Ton trucks out in the middle of nowhere and unclaimed?! I'd get to work on that pet project if I could get my hands on just one! This was the first video i watched on your channel and i now wonder if you could maybe do a revival series on one of these trucks that would be cool
I live in Sacramento , Also a Former USMC Diesel Mechanic ... I would love to grab these up and Repair them!
cracks me up when he says well theyres a motor
A couple of deuce and a haves, M-211 6X6, built for the military by GM had Jimmy 302 engines with Heavy duty Hydra-matic transmissions. Used in Korea and Vietnam.
this could have been a old movie set from years ago I would love to have one of these old trucks fixed up I would drive it work everyday just to fuck with people LOL
You sir have discovered the awesomest forgotten site in history
if those trucks are on your property, you should really look into parting the two together.. it may be worth something, but if not.... it will have sentimental value to you. they are all very nice looking trucks!!!
This is so cool dude! Lets go get some stuff off these old trucks. And by the way looks like California Tags so............ Any way very cool!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!
whether it is possible to restore these cars for use for personal reasons?
I would totally take those if I came across them in the woods!!!
I think you are right... A couple of days, loads of freinds, even bigger load of tools and that old barracks be as good as new....Running water and everything...

Looks in pretty decent shape, there is even air in the front tire. Grab some batteries, can of ether and some fresh diesel.
I really do mean this, nice little truck man.
Great video. Have you done any research on the vehicles? You really came across some history. Thank you for sharing.
That lunch looked awesome
Reminds me of the wrong turn movies lol But awesome find thanks for sharing.
