PPL SKILLS TEST PREPARATION - 2 Whole Lessons
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 авг 2024
- In this video I show you how my preperation to pass my ppl skills test. Hopefully it'll guide you on how to pass your private pilots license skills test too. I'm still flying out of Duxford. Here fly our Cessna 172 and cover takeoff, landing, navigation, navigation diversion, circuits, glide approaches, flapless, short grass strip landings, stalls, full flap stalls, IMC condition turns, steep decending turns, steep level turns and much more. We don't cover EVERYTHING in the checkride, but a fair chunk of it! This video should not be used as a guide to your skills test, more an idea as to what to expect when you're just starting out.

Hi Guys, *_STILL UPLOADING TODAY_* so please *SUBSCRIBE!*
Had a wicked time filming in some abandoned tunnels yesterday, so come along for the ride and *_BANG THAT SUB!_*
That all looked very good. A reminder why I'm going for microlights
That was enjoyable. I joined air cadets wanting to be a pilot. Because I didn't have 20/20 vision i wasn't allowed to fly, so taught all the cadets how to blow things up instead. Now I am a plumber.
Hi James thankyou for this video. I'm presently upgrading my microlight NPPL licence to SSEA (not full PPL). Your delivery is excellent, in a nice easy to understand way. You are a born natural for teaching! Just one thing, I've noticed you always set carburettor cold for landing. I'm training in a C152 and my instructor always in my pre-landing checks gets me to set it carburettor heat on. The C152 is quite different to flying an EV97 Eurostar microlight!
Loved the video James, total respect to you, would love to get my PPL
Thank you for sharing! This was awesome seeing a different instructor and hearing different instructions than what I am used to!
Cheers dude!
Brilliant Video great to see your human and honest. I was hoping to do some lessons this year but we are all in lockdown... Seem like a hell of a lot to do in the cockpit when you diverted SOO Daunting .... great instructor as well all that flying my brains would be mush
Great video, So nice to see a natural video, your commentary is brilliant over whats happening. Im starting my NPPL early 2021 , I watch all your flying vids. Personally I think your one of the best to watch for wannabees. Thanks for your efforts. alot goes into making videos.
Glad it was helpful mate!
Brilliant video, the commentary was extremely helpful.
Excellent video James! Hope you've acheived your skills test now, I'm at the same position waiting for skills test prep before the big day! So daunting and much to remember plus the frustrations with the weather at the moment!
I feel your pain! 😂
Awesome video, just watched the first flight today and will watch the second one tomorrow, good to see that you are still ironing things out in prep for the skills test and that no one gets everything right all the time. Thanks for uploading.
Mate, I've got a landings review video coming out soon too! You never stop learning! 😂
@@TimesWithJames I’ve been solo three times but always trying to learn as much as I can to help make the landings smoother.
Videos like this always help.
This was really useful James :) I'm also learning, but I'm waaay back (only had 4 lessons so far) so I can see what lays ahead. Thanks
Oh dude you’ve got soooo much fun ahead of you!
This is a LOOOONG video! I hope you all enjoy it guys. It's not a lesson for you...more revision for me! PLEASE SUB YOU BEASTS!
James really excellent, I am just starting Nav and I am curious about the skills test, so this is very helpful. like you I want to start videoing my lessons so I can review them, how do you record the audio? BTW I have subscribed!
Excellent, I am now 8:20 into a PPL in a 172 & that was very useful.
No worries! Good luck on your future training.
This was brilliant to watch. Especially while on lockdown
Cheers dude!
Great video James
nice video @timeswithjames . I enjoyed the commentary and like the in screen footage of the instruments.
Report on Final cheers man! Hope to upload another video in a few days.
Been watching your flying videos for a long time and only just realised that you are the guy from PlumberParts! Fan there too! Just a guy 1 flight away from his check ride having spent the past month of bad weather replacing 8 rusted radiators!!
Nice. Well done. At 14:00 talking about your Diversion star you said Air Speed when you meant Ground Speed as that is what is used to calculate leg times and ETAs.
Awesome mate, where would I find a pdf of the a5 windstar you have there?
Great video. One thing iv noticed about PPL skills tests videos though, no one really elaborates on the oral part of the skills tests or the part before the flight. Could you advise on what you are likely to be asked by the examiner ?? Cheers
Hi James,
I wish to fly but I am profoundly deaf. Hope you still enjoy your flight. I am interested your fans. 👍
Hi James, great videos - thanks.
Couple of quick questions:
1. Would you still use the GoPro for the video recordings or would you you use an iPhone or smartphone?
2. How or what is needed to transmit the Aircraft ATC audio to the GoPro or iPhone?
Cheers
Great video James. What size kneeboard are you using here? Thanks in advance.
Came across your Channel recently, the only actual thing I’m scared of is the communicating part. Like I’ll forget what a lot of things means or feel like I’ll constantly be asking the controller to constantly repeat things😂. I’m only 4 hours in at Barton.
can you use VOR on the PPL test to help with navigation? Also reading the CAA guidance for the ppl checkride I think it encourages pilots to not float the landing.
I fly from Elstree, got my mock on the 24th.
God luck. You’ll be fine bro. Just enjoy it…easy for me to say! 😂
Yay been here there !!!
I hear they serve OK beer!
TimesWithJames yes free actually !!! Good company too. Still waiting for the second Round
After how many hours was this please?
Great vid mate, but most of it went over my head ( no pun intended).
Haha! No worries!
Hi James, I’m about to start my first lesson next week at Duxford with the guys at classic wings. I just wanted to understand how long it takes to ‘speak the language’ so to speak? It just looks all rather daunting in terms of understanding everything and being able to respond accordingly.
Laurie Hall it will slowly come. You’ll be banging out calls after 20 hours. I’m flying there on Friday. Will you be there?! James.
@@TimesWithJames good to know, cheers James. I am actually as I’ve got to go in to classic wings to fill out a few things before starting lessons next week! Would be great to say hi depending on what time you’re flying in?
Soon starting at Duxford. Quick questions...
1. How long did it take to complete your PPL?
2. How much did it cost you?
3. Would you recommend doing the exams first and then starting practical?
Longer than it took me to reply to this message!
1. 2.5 years
2. £6.5k
3. Do your exams in 3 stages. 2 for the written and 1 for the Radio telephony.
Where can I get the wind card image to print it out?
Hi there, I’ll post it on my website for you to save on google images...but it will be tomorrow!
@@TimesWithJames okay whats your website link?
@@gerepk Right just done it...find it here: www.timeswithjames.co.uk/ppl-diversion-calculator/
@@gerepk If you want a quick lesson, let me know and I'll do a run through for you!
@@TimesWithJames yes please cause I have my PPL mock test in 9 days and I want to know how to use this perfectly
Mnemonic pronounced “ni.monic” 🙂
I was holding tight throughout that video.
Haha! Thanks man.
