This is completely unacceptable. I decided to record this and it took ONE GAME, to find FIVE Chinese hackers of SIX people in the lobby, with the sixth person being ME. And then I got DDOSed in the match. Ironmace doesn't need to beat around the bush here, Chinese hackers will kill this game, and they don't need to punish everyone for these hackers' mistakes. This is pathetic.
They want that chinese market. It's infuriating. I play as a cleric in goblin caves who tries to get new players out even if it costs me my own life. I can't play as a lawful good cleric anymore.
They need to region lock china. It is entirely possible and should be done. Chinese players RUIN games for other people. They do not have the same culture stigma around cheating and they are the source of the majority of RMT websites. Rainbow six siege has china region locked and using an entirely different version of the game (due to their censorship laws). Ironmace should honestly do the same. Granted a VPN probably gets around this, but its still something I suppose.

Today I joined a lobby and I saw about 7 Chinese people all gathered in the pyramid room with the death skulls. They also chased me around and killed me a few games later too

So I’m not sure why you’re saying I’m incorrect when I already pointed that out. I think the best solution is having a separate client/game version like siege does for China altogether. I don’t know the exact details of it, I just know that it’s the case. And I don’t see too many Chinese people back when I played on siege back in the day (us East)
Honestly at this point a ping lock is likely needed, which is really annoying as players with unstable connections or players with friends in other countries would also get hit.
It's pretty clear that this is a direct response to the overwhelming abundance of HR teaming from 'Asian Language Speaking Individuals' in OCE and USW servers, where it's basically become an epidemic. Like, quite literally cannot play on HR in these regions kind of bad. So I understand why they are doing this, likely as a bandaid fix. Do I like it? Absolutely not. Do I know why they are doing it? Yup. Tbh I really just hope we can get a region lock of some kind soon. Ping lock, region lock, something. Kinda tired of 'Asian Language Speaking Individuals' ruining a lot of the games I love/loved. PUBG, Tarkov, Rust, V Rising, it's like an endless horde of them.

This is why a lot of games do region lock china and if anyone asks they just have to say that due to the large player base from china they have to have a dedicated server for them. Region locking everyone though would be bad as I often play with people outside of the united states. The real thing that needs to happen though is for anyone that is paying for gold or items with real money needs to stop. Those people need to understand that now not only is there a high chance they will just end up losing that gear they just got when they are in a lobby with some of these hackers and farmer due to the DDOS attacks but they also provided their payment information to a hacker farming group that could just over charge them or re charge them later.

I was on my barbarian last night and 2 Chinese rogues teamed up in high roller goblin caves and attacked me together and down I went. Another time I joined a game and I was in the lobby and they were chatting in Chinese in a group so they already planned a team up and in the game I grabbed as much as I could and got out asap. There was a geared fighter that wasn’t so lucky. I watched after I extracted and 3 of them jumped on this fighter, throwing daggers and fire bottles at him and he tried to make a break for it but they cut him down like Swiss cheese. It was so disturbing to watch.
You're just plain wrong. They specified that it is when you TEAM UP AND KILL PEOPLE that is bannable. That is what is bannable. Not crouching and leaving people alone lol
The main thing that I dislike is the fact that it puts completely arbitrary rules on a game where you can do pretty much whatever you want when your in the dungeon. You know the videos of the pick pocket rouges who would pretend to be friendly, but they would secretly steal from people and/or betray them. You can get banned for playing like that now...

I think, very likely they are adding this as an excuse to explain the Asian team bans, more than anything. I wouldn't worry too much about random teams. I know I won't.
I hope so. It just looks extremely bad the way they are doing it. They don't need to instate a new rule to ban someone in the first place. They are the developers - they have full say on who gets banned, when, and why, and they are fully capable of solving this problem. I bet they'll walk this back, a huge problem is a majority of their player base is English speaking, and western culturally, and repeatedly this causes massive miscommunication which is what I'd like to think this is. But we'll have to wait and see.
Why wouldn't you though? they have stated all teaming is bannable. They have said even if you aren't in the discord and don't read update you can be banned for teaming

there is a difference between negotiation for your own survival and 2 people not killing eachother vs 2 people going "okay now we are together going against the lobby" and actively killing other players together. I think being mad at IronMace is definitely the wrong approach. Understand the work that goes in to what you want is. this is far easier load for them when they are trying to make new content for us and are only 30 devs I mean if you don’t believe that you already should leave the game I’d rather have real understanding ppl playing then toxic dev haters just to hate on someone making their passion project
I honestly don’t know if I have ran into Chinese hackers or not but I know for a fact that I have been teamed on many times making so many situations unfair for me and making the game feel miserable and not worth my time. I think teaming with other players to have an advantage in pvp really ruins the quality of gameplay for everyone else and I have been on that side so much as well as I ran into a group of 6 players that were hunting a geared group as they were yelling it in VoIP and I felt like I was forced to join them or they would kill me which isn’t something I wanted to be a part of. I think using VoIP to be friendly or kill mobs with some players and maybe two random solos team up in ruins or something but once you start bringing number advantages to pvp I think it should be considered game breaking and not allowed which is what I think this fix is meant for and not banning a function of the game for all players
100% agree with this thought process. i have seen alot of people arguing the case of "2 timmies ganging up to take down a juicer" but most of the time ive seen teaming it has either been 2 geared guys together running down the lobby or 2 timmies going into every room together to kill the other timmies. Its not fun in the game whether u have gear or not to queue up for what is supposed to be a solo game mode and suddenly having to fight a 2v1 just because. I understand the concept of "hey your mining im mining lets not kill eachother" but then when that turns into "lets make sure we both get out by going together" is literally the definition of making a team.
I think if you actually played high-roller goblin caves and ran into teams of people working together you'd think differently. Most of the time they're chinese but in a solo only map people teaming up together has no place and is frequent. And I do mean full 3 man running at you after killing troll for example or roaming the map together

I think in GC u can still find another player and be friendly and try to get out together. the bannable offense that they ask to get evidence of is teamers fighting other players, so u can go in and try to survive with another player as long as u arent gonna 2v1 in gc
I’ve a fair few times have ran from a geared only to run into someone geared like me and asked for help to take him down. Sometimes they helped other times they tried to attack. Having that option available where you and someone random triumph over a decked out guy is amazing and should be allowed in game

Yeah I think he is missing the point of the CG HR situation, people were teaming up it was basically teamfights. It's actualy better now, before people were 3man group hunting people in CG
This is a great change. If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of being teamed on it feels absolutely awful and makes you want to quit the game. Who wants to go into a specified 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 environment and it turns out to be a 1v2 or a 2v4 etc. Rare Ironmace W in my opinion

Onepeg had a good example, what if 2 people are in the same room mining and leaving each other alone and a 3rd player comes in and starts attacking them while they are mining? Are they allowed to kill the intruder together? Or do i have to sit there and keep mining while the other dude dies to the 3rd guy knowing full well that he will come for me next after he kills the other miner? What if the 3rd dude is using a bow and shooting arrows at both of them? Can only one person chase him down?
this is a common example ive seen. i see 3 possible senarios. 1: if you and a dude are mining and a 3rd comes in to fight and he fights the other guy u can run away why do u care if the other miner gets killed unless ur goal is to get both of u out. 2: if you do gang up and kill the 3rd party then dont share the loot. because now u ganged up with the intention of sharing or the mindset of is us against him, thats not cool either. if u joined the fight to kill the 3rd party and get their loot then u should want all the loot not half because this other guy mining is on ur team. 3: if you do kill the guy together and both of u are alive and healed up then dont leave the room together say "damn that was crazy good luck" and leave, the issue comes into play when the 2 people then go from room to room together killing everyone else. @@Kaldrean
I like the no teaming rule though man it’s pretty annoying to die all day and barely get out when I go in with nothing to make some gold then after all day of that I finally have enough gold to make a nice gearset that ends up getting taken by a 4 man in ruins

They banned me from their discord because i was complaining about people coming to the SA servers and screaming the n-words and other racials slurs on VoiP, claiming i was the racist (even tho a Warden told me to delete the post and i did delete it). They just dont know how to operate a communiyu, lol.
they are banning off keywords anyone saying the word chinese or rmt or etc. Its like they're doing this on purpose. Probably hired some chinese desk employees to filter through the discord and partnered with rmt companies to get that extra revenue. This is beyond incompetance at this point.

The problem is there are grey areas. What happens if 2 people are teaming up to kill a skeleton champion and a 3rd dude ambushes them? Are they not allowed to fight back? is only one person allowed to turn around and fight the invader? What if 2 people are mining ore leaving each other alone and ranger starts shooting arrows at them? Only one person can fight back even though the ranger may be shooting arrows at both of them?

I play on the European server so we have less Chinese hackers, after dying to one of them once I just started reporting every chinese team who kills me and this is just from my own experience but I get a huge amount of notifications of them getting banned
Play in the lobbies where there is like 95% chinese people that sit and talk in chinese teaming up against anyone in the lobby before the game has started. And that is EVERY game. No joke. Then you see people running around together in the dungeon and if you take a good chest they want they will just run you down and kill you. So if you want to team. Them go play ruins with your buddy or crypt with more than one buddy. Pretty simple.
Chinese hackers aside. I think that teaming in the GC should be punishable, maybe not 14day/perma ban but it should be punishable. There's no charisma check when you run into 2 people teamed up and they attack you, that's just BS.
They should do something to make it less viable, but making it bannable is stupid unless it was pre-planned teaming which seems to be the main problem right now. Maybe a soul-store or something along those lines so you get benefits for killing players would be good. That would cause newer players to quit even faster though.
@@SolomonDandD A lot of people have suggested lowering the player:portal ratio and while that could help I think people would still team and then betray each other in the end if they have to. I think a 24 hr suspension would be a good enough deterrent if players knew there was a pretty good chance of catching a suspension if they teamed in solos.

I get banned for running away from stronger people. I can't get any gear bc I have to run at people when I have nothing now. I'm not an insanely great player so I can't get away with it. Also I came back to the game after not playing for a month and I was already banned
just because you see a 3 man w cn names doesnt mean they are hacking lol... china has a huge population and only a few cheat. Most cn players are doing something no different than NA players playing on Singapore server to have empty lobby.
They could try removing trading with other players entirely. Gear would be way more valuable and pvp would feel more rewarding if you couldn't just instantly buy a bis kit on the market. Would also stop real world trading as well.
Gotta remove trading and PVP to stop RWT. Tarkov has removed the entire upper end of trading, and that just resulted in people selling cheating services where they kill everyone on the server and let you loot a dead lobby for free until you get the items you wanted. And I doubt any of us want PVP to be removed.

What they said; Tarkov did it starting with limiting what you could put into your secure container(which fuck you bruh me and my girl BOTH paid $150 each for that mf), then progressed to taking certain armors off, certain mags -soon they went ahead and took BP off the market like wtf not only do I gotta spend mad time in the meatgrinder getting my skill and inital gear up. Then I gotta farm raiders for fuckin ammo unpacking their mags individually type shit? I mean honestly fuck that I'm not tryna devote 2-3 fuckin hours before I even got enough ammo to do my regular play session I was planning on does that sound reasonable to you? No, and now $50 for Arena?? Which they used cash made off the base game to create, leaving streets a buggy mess and content updates/wipes abysmally far apart. Absolute trash, the game will die. Ironmace is currently operating in a different manner, updating often and tweaking; whether for the best or worse but they aren't afraid to make further necessary tweaks to continue testing what works and doesn't. Let Ironmace figure out how to make it work without even suggesting such a game killing thing as that. Im sure they will.
real world trading will not stop, tarkov still has the issue. chinese just go into the game with hacks drops the stuff to you and escort you to extract its just more drawn iut
tarkov has this issue, accept instead of implementing a proper ban system/anticheat, they nerfed the hell out of the loot and the found in raid system, so the entire player base is punished and cheaters never get nearly as punished. negotiating mid game is fun, VOIP is fun, hunt showdown has a system in place where if you snipe into the same lobby as a premade team, ban, but if you voip and team its fine, however, thats the only other game in this genre that does not have much RMT value due to the lack of looting or rarity of items
And that's why I quit Tarkov. When 50% of games have at least one hacker (and on labs it's 100% let's be real) the game becomes unplayable. I don't understand why any players are still on Tarkov.
Maybe for a highroller lobby 8 deaths need to happen in raid so the match will count , if they dont happen then just send the gear they lost to the players who died via some mail system or insurance system that they can gather . And the people who exctracted keep only the gear they came in with . This is just a rough idea , but still better then banning everyone :D
Been watching from the sidelines these past few weeks and this is honestly such a stupid change. like 2/3s of my favorite moments were playing and chatting with people in the dungeon, solo or whatnot. People calling anyone racist because a bunch of asian cheaters are coming and and ruining your game is WILD to me.
I have been around since the 2nd playtest. I've supported the devs and called out the issues with the game. I've poured countless hours into this game. some of my best memories have been having fun with randoms in the dungeon. this is it. I quit. fuck this game. unless they reverse their decision I'm fucking gone. and based on the discourse I've seen since the announcement a lot of other people feel the same way.
your the panzee for hating the changes to teaming, people that want to fight in hr goblin caves are met with hundreds of teamers. so everyones just forced into farming the map. so you dont get pvp in a pvpve game. my as well call it farm and farmer
It's an unfortunate truth of online gaming that China ruins everything. Their state internet is horribly slow, and their restrictive policies force anyone who wants to play online to need a VPN. Are they all hackers? Probably not. Does that effectively matter? Not really. I've played so many invasions in Dark Souls and Elden Ring where the other players never moved, and then I instantly die to a dozen instant slashes from across the field.
It's a PVP loot video game, similar to Tarkov it's a fun option to use to haze players and have have some funny moments. We don't absolutely need teaming in this game, or "Organic teaming" the cheaters do need to be banned. Yes, but if 2 or 3 unskilled players that are afraid to fight any type of 1v1 in goblin caves that team and wipe out the lobby isn't fun gameplay on the receiving end. I went into solo to face other SOLO PLAYERS. The shit is cringe and it was fun doing it every once in a while but you have players that take advantage of it and I would rather have a little banter and shit talking and more pvp and killing of players. Just my opinion.
Why have VoIP if you're going to ban organic teaming? They're basically saying we encourage shit talking through VoIP and that's it (which is toxic). Might as well get rid of VoIP. I love the game and have defended their decisions but the amount of bad ones is becoming alarming. Just region lock the game. If data shows one region abusing the game then region lock that region. Suck but that's a better outcome than this.
i feel like it only towards the teaming in the team dungeons where there are alot of people when doing that but in goblin caves i dont think you will get banned for it and they said if your just nice to people and dont fight together you d be fine and i see that alot in goblins people will still be teaming and just running around in there i think people should try to get whole lobbies to work together to get this rule taken out lol
The problem isn't ppl helping with PvE no one cares about that. The Problem is ppl rolling 3 deep ganging up on lobby. If you find a player you like go to 3s etc. And this probably isnt gonna effect ppl getting zugged. I am sure gear guys use to get loot lusted cause ppl see his cape but if you are running a full dungeon with someone and are actively looking to push fights in a solo as a team then you deserve a ban. I am all for region lock. Chinese players are incentivize to be best players any means necessary so they don't see cheating as a bad thing as long as they do better then others. 90% of the players do not team probably more like 30% do actual teaming that this ban is going to effect. If they to stupid not to go to other game modes then it is what it is. I ran into plenty of cool ppl in Gobo caves i played with after. They get into a fight I cheer them from the side lines and after we might play a game. You can still play with randos and not have to get a unfair advantage
Teaming in general is very lame and unfair i do like the use of voip in games however i dont think stopping people from teaming is completely bad im hoping that you cant get banned for talking to enemies or at least agreeing not to kill eachother

I usually like your videos on Dark and Darker. However, I have a problem with this one. I hate cheaters, I hate teamers (especially the ones who do it purposefully to farm gold), and I hate people ruining the economy and selling things for real-world money. I'm all there with you. I'm from the Oceanic region, so I'm well affected by these problems. :) The problem with your video is that you talk about how you do not like these people, instead of proposing a solution to the problem. Saying: "Here's a handful of guys, they are Chinese, ban them.," is not the most effective way. I agree that they *seem* to have teamed up before the game, but you cannot *prove* this. Same for "not English" names. That doesn't *prove* someone is cheating or teaming, etc. Region lock doesn't work, as they can just use VPN and their region will now seem to be the same as the server. Ping lock could work, but that affects people with poor-quality networks. And they would still be able to play in their region ruining things for other (innocent) players there. We can get back to your original proposal of just reporting players and dealing with them on a case-by-case basis. But this means a whole team to work on these cheating accusations which costs time, and time is money as we know. Who is going to pay that money? You and me. They will need to increase the price of the game and/or add some kind of monetization to the game to cover the ongoing cost of the battle against the cheaters. All I'm saying here is that dealing with cheaters is not that simple, especially if they do not apply cheats, but rather exploits (such as pre-game teaming) that are hard to *prove*. And *proof* is important. You do not put someone in jail because they are suspected, but you do that when they are *proven* guilty. This is how any civilized society works. We need to apply the same for video games too: established proof is needed to deem someone guilty. I do not know what the ultimate solution to the problem is. Maybe a combination of everything. Maybe make teaming bannable, but allow "we agree not to kill each other", but working together during the whole server is a violation. Maybe they could add a monitoring system that checks whether two characters team up regularly or not. (But that's easily circumventable by one guy creating a new character every time and the other one takes the valuable loot to sell them for real money.) Maybe employ AI to find patterns of teaming vs in-game-cooperation. But all of the latter needs development time and money. My approach for cheating is that the accounts used in games should be tied to real-life identities, such as bank accounts, real-life names, addresses, government IDs, etc. If you get banned from a game with the name John Doe, bank account 1234567890, and address XYZ, you cannot register for that game again. Usually, you cannot change your name, moving so often is inconvenient, and cannot open dozens of bank accounts and if you'd still do, the name and address would match up with your banned account. However, I do not believe banks and governments would provide such details to gaming companies just to filter cheaters. We'd need a 3rd party to govern this. And this still does not answer the original question: how do you separate pre-game planned teamers from valid in-match casual teaming. Fighting crime is neither easy nor cheap. :( If you have an idea that you think would really work, please, share it in your videos, as this video wasn't really helpful on the matter of teaming/cheating. Keep creating content and keep wandering the dungeons! Peace Update: I've found a new video (ruclips.net/video/ZTyHhb1O-Qw/видео.html) that talks about how the problem could be dealt with. But even in that video, the actual talk about dealing with cheating is not long, nor does it address the problem of finding out who's teaming and who's not. And remember, ping lock will still leave all the Asia region is bad state, as not all Asians, not even all Chinese do cheat.
Teamers in a solo dungeons are bullshit it was rampant and if you disagreed you got ganged by 4 people, it was bs and has nothing to do with chinese hackers.

idk I personally disagree with the idea that this is specifically only targeted towards RMT'ers/gold traders. I think that a lot of the complaining about GC teaming on reddit and yt has also contributed to this. But yea L change either way if teaming is a ban-able offense VoIP is useless because even if you didn't plan on teaming with somebody and just want to back stab the other player will never fall for it because they know they'll get banned for it.
they specifically said being friendly and going on your way is fine, just don't group and 2v1 someone, which also means you can probably group with someone, and watch the fight, then fight the winner, second part might be questionable but none the less.

I play on oce servers and it's just fucked how many chinese there are maybe not all of them "hack" per say but they for sure abuse the death cam and pre-team in the lobby you can quite often see them dropping stuff to each other in normal and high roller doesn't matter what lobby you do goblin caves crypts ruins there's always at least 3+ chinese rogues in the lobby
I just booted up the game simply to see if there was any in game announcement about this rule change. And surprise surprise there wasnt. Do these devs not realize that not everyone is in the discord following the announcement changes? If you are going to implement some new rule that can result in getting banned ANNOUNCE IT IN THE FUCKING GAME TOO. We all know its the chinese players killing this game anyways.

I had a cleric and a fighter both kitted trying to kill me as a ranger the other day in GC. Managed to get away from them by the skin of my teeth. Been playing since Januarys playtests, so that's the only reason I was able to get out. Imagine Timmys running into that?
Might be a hot take, but the way I see it is this, creating a loose reason to ban players for would result in not issuing a refund upon closure (i.e. if the game goes under, which as we all know very well may happen if they lose the suit!), its a business decision but not an ethical one by any means

The problem comes from this mindset leading to immediately treating any Chinese names with prejudice, which is clearly evidenced here. I agree that its an epidemic, but to brazenly claim there is nobody on American servers that should have anything reminiscent of a Chinese name is ludicrous. You didn't even film the two teams teaming so you wouldn't even get executive action from this footage. Advocating for bans without evidence bar prejudice, even if likely, just isn't the move. Also, considering they are just teaming gold farmers, why is the word hacker being used and emphasized so much? I totally agree that it'd be simple enough to go into these lobbies, die immediately, and view the players within the game and decide to ban from that. IM doesn't even really have the manpower to do something like this on a big scale-- I don't know how they expect to service bans that require video evidence. I think its literally just the threat of force and MAYBE banning the absolutely most egregious examples of it caught and uploaded to social media.

Rust at least has a self-protecting system because players run their own servers, and then those players ban these hackers. They can even require payment to enter certain servers on Rust if they want something extremely hacker-proof. And yup, always the same pattern. It's just sad.

This is completely unacceptable. I decided to record this and it took ONE GAME, to find FIVE Chinese hackers of SIX people in the lobby, with the sixth person being ME. And then I got DDOSed in the match. Ironmace doesn't need to beat around the bush here, Chinese hackers will kill this game, and they don't need to punish everyone for these hackers' mistakes. This is pathetic.

They need to region lock china. It is entirely possible and should be done. Chinese players RUIN games for other people. They do not have the same culture stigma around cheating and they are the source of the majority of RMT websites. Rainbow six siege has china region locked and using an entirely different version of the game (due to their censorship laws). Ironmace should honestly do the same. Granted a VPN probably gets around this, but its still something I suppose.

I think the best solution is having a separate client/game version like siege does for China altogether. I don’t know the exact details of it, I just know that it’s the case. And I don’t see too many Chinese people back when I played on siege back in the day (us East)

It's pretty clear that this is a direct response to the overwhelming abundance of HR teaming from 'Asian Language Speaking Individuals' in OCE and USW servers, where it's basically become an epidemic. This is why a lot of games do region lock china and if anyone asks they just have to say that due to the large player base from china they have to have a dedicated server for them.

The real thing that needs to happen though is for anyone that is paying for gold or items with real money needs to stop. Those people need to understand that now not only is there a high chance they will just end up losing that gear they just got when they are in a lobby with some of these hackers and farmer due to the DDOS attacks but they also provided their payment information to a hacker farming group that could just over charge them or re charge them later.

I was on my barbarian last night and 2 Chinese rogues teamed up in high roller goblin caves and attacked me together and down I went. Another time I joined a game and I was in the lobby and they were chatting in Chinese in a group so they already planned a team up and in the game I grabbed as much as I could and got out asap. There was a geared fighter that wasn’t so lucky. I watched after I extracted and 3 of them jumped on this fighter, throwing daggers and fire bottles at him and he tried to make a break for it but they cut him down like Swiss cheese. It was so disturbing to watch.

The main thing that I dislike is the fact that it puts completely arbitrary rules on a game where you can do pretty much whatever you want when your in the dungeon. You know the videos of the pick pocket rouges who would pretend to be friendly, but they would secretly steal from people and/or betray them. You can get banned for playing like that now...

I hope so. It just looks extremely bad the way they are doing it. They don't need to instate a new rule to ban someone in the first place. They are the developers - they have full say on who gets banned, when, and why, and they are fully capable of solving this problem. I bet they'll walk this back, a huge problem is a majority of their player base is English speaking, and western culturally, and repeatedly this causes massive miscommunication which is what I'd like to think this is. But we'll have to wait and see.

I honestly don’t know if I have ran into Chinese hackers or not but I know for a fact that I have been teamed on many times making so many situations unfair for me and making the game feel miserable and not worth my time. I think teaming with other players to have an advantage in pvp really ruins the quality of gameplay for everyone else and I have been on that side so much as well as I ran into a group of 6 players that were hunting a geared group as they were yelling it in VoIP and I felt like I was forced to join them or they would kill me which isn’t something I wanted to be a part of. I think using VoIP to be friendly or kill mobs with some players and maybe two random solos team up in ruins or something but once you start bringing number advantages to pvp I think it should be considered game breaking and not allowed which is what I think this fix is meant for and not banning a function of the game for all players
You can report in spectator mode after you die, and they send you a notification
100% agree with this thought process. i have seen alot of people arguing the case of "2 timmies ganging up to take down a juicer" but most of the time ive seen teaming it has either been 2 geared guys together running down the lobby or 2 timmies going into every room together to kill the other timmies. Its not fun in the game whether u have gear or not to queue up for what is supposed to be a solo game mode and suddenly having to fight a 2v1 just because. I understand the concept of "hey your mining im mining lets not kill eachother" but then when that turns into "lets make sure we both get out by going together" is literally the definition of making a team.
I think if you actually played high-roller goblin caves and ran into teams of people working together you'd think differently. Most of the time they're chinese but in a solo only map people teaming up together has no place and is frequent. I think in GC u can still find another player and be friendly and try to get out together. the bannable offense that they ask to get evidence of is teamers fighting other players, so u can go in and try to survive with another player as long as u arent gonna 2v1 in gc

I’ve a fair few times have ran from a geared only to run into someone geared like me and asked for help to take him down. Sometimes they helped other times they tried to attack. Having that option available where you and someone random triumph over a decked out guy is amazing and should be allowed in game

Are they allowed to kill the intruder together? What if the 3rd dude is using a bow and shooting arrows at both of them? Can only one person chase him down?
this is a common example ive seen. i see 3 possible senarios. 1: if you and a dude are mining and a 3rd comes in to fight and he fights the other guy u can run away why do u care if the other miner gets killed unless ur goal is to get both of u out. 2: if you do gang up and kill the 3rd party then dont share the loot. because now u ganged up with the intention of sharing or the mindset of is us against him, thats not cool either. if u joined the fight to kill the 3rd party and get their loot then u should want all the loot not half because this other guy mining is on ur team. 3: if you do kill the guy together and both of u are alive and healed up then dont leave the room together say "damn that was crazy good luck" and leave, the issue comes into play when the 2 people then go from room to room together killing everyone else. @@Kaldrean

The problem is there are grey areas. What happens if 2 people are teaming up to kill a skeleton champion and a 3rd dude ambushes them? Are they not allowed to fight back? is only one person allowed to turn around and fight the invader? What if 2 people are mining ore leaving each other alone and ranger starts shooting arrows at them? Only one person can fight back even though the ranger may be shooting arrows at both of them?

I play on the European server so we have less Chinese hackers, after dying to one of them once I just started reporting every chinese team who kills me and this is just from my own experience but I get a huge amount of notifications of them getting banned
Play in the lobbies where there is like 95% chinese people that sit and talk in chinese teaming up against anyone in the lobby before the game has started. And that is EVERY game. No joke. Then you see people running around together in the dungeon and if you take a good chest they want they will just run you down and kill you. So if you want to team. Them go play ruins with your buddy or crypt with more than one buddy. Pretty simple.
Chinese hackers aside. I think that teaming in the GC should be punishable, maybe not 14day/perma ban but it should be punishable. There's no charisma check when you run into 2 people teamed up and they attack you, that's just BS.
They should do something to make it less viable, but making it bannable is stupid unless it was pre-planned teaming which seems to be the main problem right now. Maybe a soul-store or something along those lines so you get benefits for killing players would be good. That would cause newer players to quit even faster though.

@@SolomonDandD A lot of people have suggested lowering the player:portal ratio and while that could help I think people would still team and then betray each other in the end if they have to. I think a 24 hr suspension would be a good enough deterrent if players knew there was a pretty good chance of catching a suspension if they teamed in solos.

Gotta remove trading and PVP to stop RWT. Tarkov has removed the entire upper end of trading, and that just resulted in people selling cheating services where they kill everyone on the server and let you loot a dead lobby for free until you get the items you wanted. And I doubt any of us want PVP to be removed.

Ironmace is currently operating in a different manner, updating often and tweaking; whether for the best or worse but they aren't afraid to make further necessary tweaks to continue testing what works and doesn't. Let Ironmace figure out how to make it work without even suggesting such a game killing thing as that. Im sure they will.

tarkov has this issue, accept instead of implementing a proper ban system/anticheat, they nerfed the hell out of the loot and the found in raid system, so the entire player base is punished and cheaters never get nearly as punished. negotiating mid game is fun, VOIP is fun, hunt showdown has a system in place where if you snipe into the same lobby as a premade team, ban, but if you voip and team its fine, however, thats the only other game in this genre that does not have much RMT value due to the lack of looting or rarity of items
And that's why I quit Tarkov. When 50% of games have at least one hacker (and on labs it's 100% let's be real) the game becomes unplayable. I don't understand why any players are still on Tarkov.
Maybe for a highroller lobby 8 deaths need to happen in raid so the match will count , if they dont happen then just send the gear they lost to the players who died via some mail system or insurance system that they can gather . And the people who exctracted keep only the gear they came in with . This is just a rough idea , but still better then banning everyone :D

I have been around since the 2nd playtest. I've supported the devs and called out the issues with the game. I've poured countless hours into this game. some of my best memories have been having fun with randoms in the dungeon. this is it. your the panzee for hating the changes to teaming, people that want to fight in hr goblin caves are met with hundreds of teamers. so everyones just forced into farming the map. so you dont get pvp in a pvpve game. my as well call it farm and farmer

It's an unfortunate truth of online gaming that China ruins everything. Their state internet is horribly slow, and their restrictive policies force anyone who wants to play online to need a VPN. Are they all hackers? Probably not. Does that effectively matter? Not really. I've played so many invasions in Dark Souls and Elden Ring where the other players never moved, and then I instantly die to a dozen instant slashes from across the field.

It's a PVP loot video game, similar to Tarkov it's a fun option to use to haze players and have have some funny moments. We don't absolutely need teaming in this game, or "Organic teaming" the cheaters do need to be banned. Yes, but if 2 or 3 unskilled players that are afraid to fight any type of 1v1 in goblin caves that team and wipe out the lobby isn't fun gameplay on the receiving end. I went into solo to face other SOLO PLAYERS. The shit is cringe and it was fun doing it every once in a while but you have players that take advantage of it and I would rather have a little banter and shit talking and more pvp and killing of players. Just my opinion.

Why have VoIP if you're going to ban organic teaming? They're basically saying we encourage shit talking through VoIP and that's it (which is toxic). Might as well get rid of VoIP. I love the game and have defended their decisions but the amount of bad ones is becoming alarming.
Just region lock the game. If data shows one region abusing the game then region lock that region. Suck but that's a better outcome than this.
i feel like it only towards the teaming in the team dungeons where there are alot of people when doing that but in goblin caves i dont think you will get banned for it and they said if your just nice to people and dont fight together you d be fine and i see that alot in goblins people will still be teaming and just running around in there i think people should try to get whole lobbies to work together to get this rule taken out lol
The problem isn't ppl helping with PvE no one cares about that. The Problem is ppl rolling 3 deep ganging up on lobby. If you find a player you like go to 3s etc. And this probably isnt gonna effect ppl getting zugged. I am sure gear guys use to get loot lusted cause ppl see his cape but if you are running a full dungeon with someone and are actively looking to push fights in a solo as a team then you deserve a ban. I am all for region lock. Chinese players are incentivize to be best players any means necessary so they don't see cheating as a bad thing as long as they do better then others. 90% of the players do not team probably more like 30% do actual teaming that this ban is going to effect. If they to stupid not to go to other game modes then it is what it is. I ran into plenty of cool ppl in Gobo caves i played with after. They get into a fight I cheer them from the side lines and after we might play a game. You can still play with randos and not have to get a unfair advantage
Teaming in general is very lame and unfair i do like the use of voip in games however i dont think stopping people from teaming is completely bad im hoping that you cant get banned for talking to enemies or at least agreeing not to kill eachother

I usually like your videos on Dark and Darker. However, I have a problem with this one.
I hate cheaters, I hate teamers (especially the ones who do it purposefully to farm gold), and I hate people ruining the economy and selling things for real-world money. I'm all there with you. I'm from the Oceanic region, so I'm well affected by these problems. :)
The problem with your video is that you talk about how you do not like these people, instead of proposing a solution to the problem. Saying: "Here's a handful of guys, they are Chinese, ban them.," is not the most effective way. I agree that they *seem* to have teamed up before the game, but you cannot *prove* this. Same for "not English" names. That doesn't *prove* someone is cheating or teaming, etc.
Region lock doesn't work, as they can just use VPN and their region will now seem to be the same as the server. Ping lock could work, but that affects people with poor-quality networks. And they would still be able to play in their region ruining things for other (innocent) players there.
We can get back to your original proposal of just reporting players and dealing with them on a case-by-case basis. But this means a whole team to work on these cheating accusations which costs time, and time is money as we know. Who is going to pay that money? You and me. They will need to increase the price of the game and/or add some kind of monetization to the game to cover the ongoing cost of the battle against the cheaters.
All I'm saying here is that dealing with cheaters is not that simple, especially if they do not apply cheats, but rather exploits (such as pre-game teaming) that are hard to *prove*.
And *proof* is important. You do not put someone in jail because they are suspected, but you do that when they are *proven* guilty. This is how any civilized society works. We need to apply the same for video games too: established proof is needed to deem someone guilty.
I do not know what the ultimate solution to the problem is. Maybe a combination of everything. Maybe make teaming bannable, but allow "we agree not to kill each other", but working together during the whole server is a violation. Maybe they could add a monitoring system that checks whether two characters team up regularly or not. (But that's easily circumventable by one guy creating a new character every time and the other one takes the valuable loot to sell them for real money.) Maybe employ AI to find patterns of teaming vs in-game-cooperation. But all of the latter needs development time and money.
My approach for cheating is that the accounts used in games should be tied to real-life identities, such as bank accounts, real-life names, addresses, government IDs, etc. If you get banned from a game with the name John Doe, bank account 1234567890, and address XYZ, you cannot register for that game again. Usually, you cannot change your name, moving so often is inconvenient, and cannot open dozens of bank accounts and if you'd still do, the name and address would match up with your banned account. However, I do not believe banks and governments would provide such details to gaming companies just to filter cheaters. We'd need a 3rd party to govern this. And this still does not answer the original question: how do you separate pre-game planned teamers from valid in-match casual teaming. Fighting crime is neither easy nor cheap. :(
If you have an idea that you think would really work, please, share it in your videos, as this video wasn't really helpful on the matter of teaming/cheating.

But even in that video, the actual talk about dealing with cheating is not long, nor does it address the problem of finding out who's teaming and who's not. And remember, ping lock will still leave all the Asia region is bad state, as not all Asians, not even all Chinese do cheat.
Teamers in a solo dungeons are bullshit it was rampant and if you disagreed you got ganged by 4 people, it was bs and has nothing to do with chinese hackers.

idk I personally disagree with the idea that this is specifically only targeted towards RMT'ers/gold traders. I think that a lot of the complaining about GC teaming on reddit and yt has also contributed to this. But yea L change either way if teaming is a ban-able offense VoIP is useless because even if you didn't plan on teaming with somebody and just want to back stab the other player will never fall for it because they know they'll get banned for it.
they specifically said being friendly and going on your way is fine, just don't group and 2v1 someone, which also means you can probably group with someone, and watch the fight, then fight the winner, second part might be questionable but none the less.

I play on oce servers and it's just fucked how many chinese there are maybe not all of them "hack" per say but they for sure abuse the death cam and pre-team in the lobby you can quite often see them dropping stuff to each other in normal and high roller doesn't matter what lobby you do goblin caves crypts ruins there's always at least 3+ chinese rogues in the lobby

I just booted up the game simply to see if there was any in game announcement about this rule change. And surprise surprise there wasnt. Do these devs not realize that not everyone is in the discord following the announcement changes? If you are going to implement some new rule that can result in getting banned ANNOUNCE IT IN THE FUCKING GAME TOO. We all know its the chinese players killing this game anyways.

The only teaming i saw was in regular goblin caves and it was against the overgeared players that if unchecked would solo whole lobbies.

I had a cleric and a fighter both kitted trying to kill me as a ranger the other day in GC. Managed to get away from them by the skin of my teeth. Been playing since Januarys playtests, so that's the only reason I was able to get out. Imagine Timmys running into that?
Might be a hot take, but the way I see it is this, creating a loose reason to ban players for would result in not issuing a refund upon closure (i.e. if the game goes under, which as we all know very well may happen if they lose the suit!), its a business decision but not an ethical one by any means

The problem comes from this mindset leading to immediately treating any Chinese names with prejudice, which is clearly evidenced here. I agree that its an epidemic, but to brazenly claim there is nobody on American servers that should have anything reminiscent of a Chinese name is ludicrous. You didn't even film the two teams teaming so you wouldn't even get executive action from this footage. Advocating for bans without evidence bar prejudice, even if likely, just isn't the move. Also, considering they are just teaming gold farmers, why is the word hacker being used and emphasized so much?
I totally agree that it'd be simple enough to go into these lobbies, die immediately, and view the players within the game and decide to ban from that. IM doesn't even really have the manpower to do something like this on a big scale-- I don't know how they expect to service bans that require video evidence. I think its literally just the threat of force and MAYBE banning the absolutely most egregious examples of it caught and uploaded to social media.

Rust at least has a self-protecting system because players run their own servers, and then those players ban these hackers. They can even require payment to enter certain servers on Rust if they want something extremely hacker-proof. And yup, always the same pattern. It's just sad.
