But he at least said “hey, if you hear something talking to you in the warp, don’t trust it”. Magnus, projecting to Terra, encounters a large psychic barrier surrounding the planet. That alone should have been a huge hint “hey, do not enter”. But then, a warp entity tells Magnus “you should try harder to get through. I’ll give you some more power to do it”. Even if Magnus didn’t know about Tzeentch, he still knew not to trust anything in the warp. So even with all the information that Magnus knew at the time, he still fucked up. It is all his fault.

The Leman Russ kit is really fascinating to me because they just crammed in the demolisher top sprue into the box to give all of the variants, but it also means you have half a tank extra in the box. I've seen a lot of posts from new players confused about it and ask if they are either missing a sprue or got an extra one because it is so jarring. On the bright side there are a couple of advantages to this. One is that GW can make a combo box with a Russ even more appealing by simply adding a tank bottom sprue and double the number of tanks in the box. The tanks have to have different barrels but that can actually be a positive in a beginner set like combat patrol. The other is that anyone with a 3d printer can print up a Leman Russ bottom and double the number of points in a box. Although at that point you might as well print a whole tank.
it has two upper hulls & two turrets (the demolisher turret also has the demolisher, punisher & executioner, the regular one has the eradicator, annihilator and vanquisher iirc), but only one lower hull & track sprue. If you get something like the Blood & Skulls Industry libra track kit you can make a second tank if you're okay with no floor.

The Leman Russ kit, which has 7 primary, 3 secondary, and 5 tirtiary weapon options is $70 MSRP, but the Tau's only tank kit, which builds either the Hammerhead or Skyray, has only 3 primary and 3 secondary (one of which is literally just gun drones) options for $75 MSRP.
Yea coming from building gundams to warhammer minis is a smack in the mouth in terms of pricing. Like a crazy good Gundam kit can be like 60-100$ and it’s a huge model then you go to 40k and it’s like “I paid 200$ for a rhino :)”
4:15 3d printers are such a useful tool, even if you like the official miniatures. I use mine a lot not because I am "cheap" but because it allows me to create the vision of the army that I have instead of what GW has. I have basically two sisters armies: One with only official models, to one day maybe have the courage to play in the official warhammer store. And the other one in which I replace some units with others that I like more. It is arco-flagelants and ministers mainly. It used to be also crusaders and death cult assassins, but since we can't use them anymore I have them for display. In summary, I pay for the official merch AND for the paid designs of some people. However, I refuse to buy forge world stuff, so I have 3d printed all of it, because I just want to paint it in peace and I ain't paying 600 for this or that model. Also, I print new armies to test, instead of buying them. There is no way I would even think about collecting gards or admech without a 3d printer. I have given enough money to GW and I already have a third mortgage in my house. And finally, I also use the 3d printer to print exact copies of some figures to test paint them, try different color schemes, etc. Since I can avoid it, I prefer to test this weird color scheme that I have in mind in my $2 miniature instead of on my $125 official one. Once I know what I want, I paint the $125. Sometimes if the paint job is significantly better, I use the fake one just so that the official one does not get chipped or broken and I keep it for showing. I think that 3d printing can be perfectly fine morally. In my case, I have 3d printed thousand of dollars of equivalent material, but I have also spent a couple grands in GW. If I didn't have my 3d printer, I would have simply never started on the hobby. As always, the closer alternative to 3d printing / piracy is not to buy, but to ignore. So GW should look at it not as thousands of dollars lost (since I wasn't going to buy that anyway), but as the other thousands of dollars earned, which otherwise would be zero.
The other thing with the gundam models is, no glue (which also means you’re not locked to 1 options), joints that have only seemed to have gotten better, and because it is individual pieces (like a small gray vent on a chest will be it’s own piece rather than part of the ‘front chest’ mold) rather than large molds, is the details are just so much more crisp by comparison. For the non-existent finish carpenter reading the comments it’s like the difference between 1 piece machined trim and built up hand made trim. But I guess that’s the difference between “Hey you watched our plastic model advertisement of a show now buy the models any version just buy the one that fits the customer base you fit in” and “We think this unit is powerful in our game and people will want it, so lets jack up the price because why not”

For example, GW could make their life a hundred times easier *and* make their product sell better *and* make the game better by just printing the codices at the end of the edition as a memorabilia/collector’s item.
