Yes, but didn’t you pay attention to the rest of the video? The narrator said twice, “this isn’t how police are trained” and “officer Gutierrez was fired after the incident.
As LeadingPaws points out - the video itself mentions that the police screwed up and didn't follow proper procedure. The lead cop was fired. Further, we shouldn't generalize about the police because of stupid incidents like this. Cops are people, and like people as a whole, some can be bad, to put it simply. The bad ones should be disciplined and/or fired accordingly. But so many cops do not behave in this way. I'm often struck by how courteous the cops are even when being yelled at and insulted and so on.
@@LeadingPaws True, but that still does not take away from what I have said. Situations like this make people afraid. And there are police that do even worse than this that do not get fired or get rehired.

he was fired
A federal trial began Monday for a US Army officer suing two Virginia police officers after they pointed guns at him, pepper sprayed him and pushed him to the ground in 2020 during a traffic stop.
A jury began hearing the case involving 2nd Lt. Caron Nazario, who is Black and Latino, on Monday shortly after 9 a.m. in a federal court in Richmond, court records show.
In his suit, Nazario claims he was wrongfully stopped and his vehicle was illegally searched. He is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages, claiming the Windsor, Virginia, police officers violated his rights guaranteed under the First and Fourth Amendments.
Nazario filed his lawsuit in 2021 after video of the December 2020 altercation was made public. The encounter was captured by several cameras, including both officers’ body cameras and Nazario’s phone. The footage and the lawsuit were previously obtained by CNN through Nazario’s attorney.
CNN has attempted to reach Gutierrez and Crocker for comment. Gutierrez was fired in 2021 following an investigation into the incident launched because of the use of force and Crocker remains on the force.
At the time, Former Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring described the officers’ behavior as “dangerous, unnecessary, unacceptable and avoidable.”
Last year, Special Prosecutor and Commonwealth’s Attorney Anton Bell determined that no charges should be filed against the officers in state court but formally referred the case to the US Attorney’s Office for a federal civil rights investigation.
I'm so tired of people doing the bare minimum in these situations. Passive aggressive compliance is NOT what he was trained to do. Obeying lawful, or even unlawful, orders is the BEST way to get the outcome you want.. unless he was thinking about causing problems. The two officers had no idea what was happening. Their superiors had no idea what was happening. There WAS time to further deescalate the situation. That should have been done. The lawsuit is an obvious money grab. USNret
I feel sorry for both Nazario and Crocker.
Nazario got the treatment he got, Crocker was on his first day on the job and was assigned with Gutierrez as a senior, basically an "all he does I do" situation. In one scene of the footage you can see Crocker moving to reach inside and undo Nazario's seatbelt and Gutierrez immediately went "don't reach for the seatbelt!". He just wanted to complicate things for Nazario and dragged Crocker down the crapper with him. You can also hear the difference in tones, Crocker is more "calm" so to say while Gutierrez is all hyped up and steamy, I feel kinda bad for him too, he got dragged in something he wouldn't have caused if he was by himself

They did that military officer dead wrong. Both cops should have been fired, and paid the million dollars to him. Once officers start offering a deal, you know you got them in the wrong. The famous “ here’s the deal” or “ it can go two ways” spew of bs.

After seeing lots and lots of these, “simple stop becomes chaos” videos, I feel like there is almost a way to identify if the odds are more likely than not that a simple interact with police is going to get blown way out of proportion and be more difficult and sometimes tragic than it has to be. I think I’m noticing a common denominator in them.
The LT was really treated badly. My husband is a Veteran, so I’m sensitive to their treatment. That was insane!!
Unfortunately, he was treated the way an officer is trained in that situation. If you drive around without a license plate chances are you will be stopped by police. The soldier refused to stop which escalated the situation as police are trained in situations where someone is refusing to stop after activating lights and sirens it’s usually due to some form of criminal activity and is a highly dangerous situation which is why they drew their weapons.
The soldier knew he didn’t have a license plate and knew exactly why he was being stopped.

Well I got something to say: Lt Nazario was so full of himself that he was in the right that he kept endangering himself. All he had to do is comply, obey and file a complaint after the fact. Those cops where on edge from the get go. Not smart to try to verbally win a battle when there's guns drawn. I totally agree that Nazario was in the right but it's not worth all the shit that followed after he started to argue with the cops. That Sarge was a disgrace and I feel bad for the rookie.

What's wrong with those black young people today? They are wild.
EXCELLENT police work!!!
The one with where they drew guns, used OC, and kept shouting and escalating on Nazario is wild. Thank you for including it so people can see the wide difference between reasonable police responses and unreasonable ones.
Having their guns out at first was understandable because he didnt pull over for a whole mile. Then when he finally did at their angle they cant really see him and he wasnt really complying but the use of pepper spray was not necessary and yk just comply with the officers. Also imagine trying to sue when they let you go ugh i swear military ppl are so entitled
That Nazario dude is a garbage human. Clearly deliberately escalating by not complying. Sitting there smug, and extremely calm (and thus not fearing for his safety at all), not complying with any order.

Inexplicably, the officer was basically giving the young lady a break - with the dismissal of charges by getting her license in order.
