    Live sound guy here. The problem is that your particular mic capsule is designed to be worn much further away from your mouth. Youre not just overdriving it with plosives, you are constantly taking it to a clipping situation, so no amount of foam will help. I would simply clip it to the very front of your hat bill and run the cable over your ear, or on your shirt as it's designed, and then properly gain stage it. Also, both of those broken cables are wear items. The one to the phone is simple usb-c, and the one to the capsule is probably available from a retailer like Sweetwater. If you want a head worn mic that isn't janky AF, look at the Countryman E line. It will even plug into your current transmitter!

    They're also commonly designed very lightweight as well since you're wearing them for the whole flight.

    Good evening @Sreetips, do you have any .999 silver bars for sell at the moment? Also, I really like the sign at your jewelers desk and think it would be crazy neat if you could get some customized stamps like that sign. Definitely would include your est. 2010 as well. I say all this b/c I think you refine metal like an artist paints a canvas, , beautiful products of work at the end. Please let us know when products are up. Just fyi... I'd even buy a Cu bar with your stamp. It would be a cool little collector item for those of us on a budget. :)
    Also, you could always video record, then watch your playback while recording audio from another mic device. Then, overlay the audio. You narrate very well while working, so I could imagine you could narrate your own work well too. It's probably more work and time, as I could imagine it's faster editing content with open mic recordings.

    • @CrimFerret
      @CrimFerret Год назад +2

      If you get bulk gold plated, gold filled, carat gold, and silver jewelry, you can pay far less than the value of the actual gold and silver. Hit up garage and estate sales and you'll often find sterling silver silverware and serving pieces that nobody is likely to use even if the sets are complete for far less than the metal value. For the silver, you don't just process an ounce at a time. You heard him say he gets 1.5 kilos (around 3lbs) of .999 fine (minimum) silver out of that silver cell every 10 days. As for gold, you probably wouldn't buy the glassware and supplies to just do a single ounce. The glassware is reusable of course. The most expensive chemical by far is the concentrated nitric acid. Runs around $70/2.5 liters (gallon) plus shipping if you don't have a local source. Realistically, you might pay 50% of the actual metal value so figure a profit of around $900/ounce for gold before expenses. The more you process at once, the lower those expenses will be compared to the yield.

    • @sreetips
      @sreetips  Год назад

      For a two ounce gold bar double refined is about fifty bucks, not counting time or the metal.

  • @JeffreyAu1
    @JeffreyAu1 Год назад

    I love your metal refining videos. The silver refining is of particular interest. Never gets old watching you cement the silver out on copper, then make shot and run it through the cell. I notice that when you make the shot, it appears that the impurities (mostly copper) almost plate the outside of the shot. Am I correct, or does the shot look like that all the way through? If you cut one of those shot pieces in half, would it be more pure in the middle?
    If it is only on the outside, does the rapid cooling of the alloy in cold water cause that? You might have covered this in a different video, but I don't remember that being the case. Sorry if you have and I missed it.

    Instead of putting the mic directly in front of your mouth, put it to the side of you mouth (where the original mic on that headset is). That way you aren't popping directly into it. Not only does the popping sound bad, but it damages your mic capsule.
    When you had it high or low, that was actually a good thing even though it was a lot quieter. You just need to increase the volume/gain. To do that, just open the battery cover of your mic pack and use a small screwdriver to turn the 'Gain' adjustment clockwise.

    Hi Sreetips. Would the copper work better if it were cleaned with wire wool, or doesn't it make a difference please?
    I get a feeling that bright copper would conduct better to cement out the silver.
    It's just a guess. Great video. Glad you managed to fix your mike.

      I’ve never tried shining the copper before using it to cement out the silver.

    old microphone wire and connector can easy be soldered by any TV repair or computer repair shop ,...if you want keep it as a spare

      Good suggestion, thank you. The only problem: places like tgat are becoming extinct.

    The old jawbone wireless mic would be good for you it was meant for motorcycle riders it blocks out ambient noise and only picks up when your jaw moves I'm not sure if they still make them but they were great for riding motorcycles and not hearing the wind or anything else except for The Voice

    Just curious what type of a place a person would go to in order to get a pre-made stamp like the one you use to stamp your gold bars.......thanks in advance......

      I think I typed “metal stamps” into the search block on yahoo. Can’t remember the name.

    I'm curious why you don't use magnetic hot plate stirrers?

      At other times on other tasks, he does. Just not necessary for here I would guess. The bubbling boil would stir things up enough without needing exterior application of stirrity.

    I have a question: I'm planning to start my own silver cell base don your suggestions but I have to start small. Wouldn't it be just as efficient to have a solution of potassium nitrate or sodium nitrate as the electrolyte, without having to bind a ton of silver into the electrolyte first up? I also have the issue that nitric acid is pretty much impossible to find but I can easily buy the salts.

      Silver nitrate crystal can be dissolved in distilled water and used as electrolyte. Takes about 150g of silver nitrate to equal 100g of pure silver.

    Very cool how you used silver to make more silver 🤯 . I have a Q? Have you post the end of the carpet chapter. 😆😆😁😁 . Don't tell me I miss it.

      The carpet series is complete as-is. I’ll do a separate video and combine all the PGMs that I recover so it will be a greater amount than just 2 grams.

    Could you use copper nitrate or sulfate as your electrolyte? As it seems you are double handling the silver crystal conversion at least for the AgNO3 electrolyte. ie. dissolving pure Ag crystal to make electrolyte as whech then get turned back into Ag crystal. At the end of the AG cell run (using AgNO3 electrolyte) you would have a bunch of Cu(NO3)2 electrolyte (blue liquid) after cementing out the dissolved Ag with the Copper pipes. Not sure if it would work as well but should still be a medium for current flow.

      The cell will begin plating out copper if the silver concentration gets too low, or the copper concentration gets too high.

    Adjusting it out a bit does sound better. If I wasn't so tired, I could probably come up with a few ideas to help you out. But 12 hr shifts are brutal.

      I used to do 6x6 in the navy. Only two watch standers. Six on and six off. If you had the mid to 6am, you still had to work the morning then back on watch at noon. The only sleep we got was from 6pm until midnight, when the berthing compartment was full of noisy snipes watching CC TV. Then you get up at 23:30 (11:30 pm) and did it all over again. I did that for nearly thirty days straight. It was brutal - but I’m glad that I got to do it! They “dogged the watch” every week so we didn’t have to stand the same watch continuously.
