I live in Sacramento, CA and did this for about 8-years. Delivering medical supplies and medication to pharmacies for Cardinal Health, McKesson and several other companies. The pay is very good but every company I worked for required me to have a truck with a camper shell or a van. This wasn't a problem for me but I wanted to make this known.
I used to be a dispatcher for a company who did exactly this... Medical stuff. This was in Houston and we have one of the largest medical centers in the world. So optimal situation. That said, what most people don't know about this line of work, is the dispatchers are usually tight with the seasoned drivers and even get kick backs from these drivers, and in return, they are almost always given the best runs. Drivers would come in and be like "I'm working 50 hours a week and only made $750 after my fuel cost". Yup, because the really long runs that go out to somewhere that we know won't have a return run back, are gonna be given to those guys, and the runs going from the hot spots that are close, will be given to their "boys". You can identify these guys real quick if you hang out in the dispatchers officer because they will bring breakfast, lunch or dinner to the dispatchers and even a carton of cigarettes. In some circumstances they will give them cash. This isn't supposed to happen but it does. Also if you "make your own schedule" and show up whenever you want, the dispatchers are gonna give you the worst runs. If you flake out on them, you are gonna get bad runs. If you call in sick, you're gonna get bad runs. Basically you usually have to prove yourself first and kiss a lot of rear ends to get the good runs.
I worked at a hotel as a doorman for a few years near Disneyland. Shuttle/cab drivers would commonly offer kickbacks to bellmen or doormen to prioritize them for airport runs. Taxi drivers or shuttle vans were suppose to que up at a designated place along the street and wait for a hand signal from an employee to pick up a hotel guest. Didn’t take long to figure out which bellman were getting kick backs.

Also, if these time sensitive labs are not handled correctly, as having a cooler, multiple trips a day back to labs, whatever is appropriate, effects lives. Thank you so much! finally i get to see an honest video. Everything else i have seen in RUclips today has been justs ads, nothing works and i ended up wasting my time.
It's very difficult to make $2500 a week doing this. I was a manager of a company doing this, I didn't make anywhere near $2500 a week and my drivers came nowhere close. The certification, isn't really a certification. You read or watch something and answer a few questions. It's hardly a certification. The HIPPA is similar to what you get at a doctors office. The bloodbourne pathogen is usually simplistic and if you are short on drivers, you help the applicant out.
How much we talking? Half that? $1,250/wk is still $65k a yr, or is $2500/month more reasonable? Still a decent side gig. Or we talking just a couple hundred and barely covering gas and wear and tear?
@@MrSirjud01 Barely covering gas and not touching wear and tear. There is so much supply (drivers like you) and so few shippers (medical testing and supplies) that they drove the rates through the floor.
@@tommyberish depends on the type of car. I did it for a few years using my pick up truck and 28 dollars an hour was my usual average after gas and what I put aside for maintience. also depends on yer area.
What you didn't mention was that everyone and their mother are trying to do this, every "lucrative side gig" has been over saturated with ppl trying to make 2500 a week and it just ruins everything
$2500 seems kinda high. But i work for a company delivering lab supplies that has contracts with a major hospital group in the Los Angeles area and i drive my own car, am a W2 employee with taxes with held and they offer medical insurance. I work 10-12 hrs a day ( no weekends)and take home about $1300-1400 a week since we get hourly, milage and OT. Milage isnt taxed since its at the fed limits of .63 cents a mile.
Thanks Judd for yoyr kindness and simplicity on the videos. I have seeing almost all your videos. I am going to follow up for jobs for my husband. Thanks again :)
Don't know anyone that did this and lasted more than a few weeks. Long hours, long drives. They're always bugging you to do more because they never have enough drivers especially in the middle of the night.
That’s what I’ve heard from people also like deliveries on the other side of the city during rush hour, then another on the other side of the city, etc., driving hundreds of miles a day using your own car?
Curious as to how the contracting works in these arrangements and what type of potential liability the independent courier carries in this type of arrangement. For example, who is responsible to ensure that medical supplies/speciments/etc. are packaged and delivered in accordance with shipping requirements (e.g. temperature control, light/darkeness, within XX number of hours, etc.)? I'd suspect that some level of additional insurance coverage may be required for the courier such as E&O? Interested in your experience and guidance.
I dunno about the other ones, but for Goshare when I did deliveries for them, In my onboarding process since I was a pick up truck driver. They asked if I had working climate control. I told em no, so all the delivery offers that came my way where for stuff that could just be put in the bed of my truck and roasting in the sun in a box wasnt going to hurt it. most the time it wasnt anything bio related in the boxes, it would be crates of oxygen bottles going to various homes [sorta like a amazon route] or a small medical office would order a big rush order of boxes of masks/gloves. usually wasnt anything serious.
Interesting opportunity. Seems to make sense for people who live in more urban type areas. For those of us who live outside major metropolitan areas this doesn't seem to be an opportunity that makes sense.
After reviewing the videos i discover this isn't about delivering medical supplies. Its about learning a business concept to selling high ticket sales utilizing their business blueprint.
You need a rather large, gas guzzling SUV to make it worthwhile, a regular car won't won't do. You need to carry a lot of cargo, and you'll be dispatched out to the country on a route that takes you all over the area, overnight, on poorly lit rural roads where you will encounter many unexpected hazards such as cows on the road (really!), in the dark. When you get to facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living, etc... you will likely encounter receiving staff that that are not motivated by time, and are fairly surly and often not well trained. If you live where snowstorms are frequent, buckle up and prepare for an adventure, lightning storms are fun, too. You will be a frequent target for traffic stops by bored rural troopers all along your route. Yep, Easy!
Sounds great. I have a CDL Class A and I’m presently driving for a garbage company and the pay is terrible. I will give this a try thanks for your content.
Wow, that's crazy. People that I know that work for the garbage company make big money, especially drivers. I'm talking $40 to $50 per hour and they get a lot of overtime as well which pays even more.
welcome to 1099 deductions, using actual expense method you write off insurance since its an expense, not an asset, to your business.. talk to a tax advisor
This is so helpful... I'm so glad I found this video. I am a caregiver and getting really burnt out mentally and physically, and have been searching and wondering what kind of side gig I can do to supplement my income with. I appreciate the breakdown you gave here, thank you!😊
I recently seen one of these deliveries in action and the driver inadvertently left an igloo cooler sitting there. I tried to get their attention but they drove off. I opened the cooler and there was a human toe in it. Stunned and bewildered not knowing what to do I called a tow truck.
I love how this video introduces an easy side hustle option that not only offers flexibility but also contributes to healthcare accessibility. Truly inspiring! ** I also shared some tips on how to find the best remote jobs on my channel btw ** ❤
The problem with working for a company is you work for them not for yourself so they OWN you, you lose the freedom you have going into business for yourself. Dont work for someone else, work for yourself that way you are in control. Also you drive your own car so you will be buying gas, insurance, and the wear and tear on your car. Just paying for gas will kill your profit so you will not make enough to justify this.
If youre actually making $2500 a week then I cant imagine it would cost more that $500 a week for gas. Even with maintenance factored it, $2000 a week is extremely good pay. But that is a massive IF
Exactly what I'm thinking. I'll follow the referrals given and do a little due diligence and see if the orange is worth the squeeze. Self-employed also means labor laws do not apply for protection so if these companies pay late or not at all, collecting your money is a struggle through the court system.
...if you're good with $100-$200/week actual income... With any of these driving your own car jobs, gas, maintenance, & abuse to your car comes off the top...THAT IS NOT INCOME!!!!!....then 30-40% in taxes....how much is left for you for your efforts 12 hours a day???...20%...30% maybe??? ...oh, and that car maintenance $$ is just for maintenance...how are you going to replace it with a new car when you burn through a couple hundred thousand miles in a few years and have no car anymore for anything... I love these driving gigs, but using up your own resources to make $$$ for someone else's company is just stupid...if they want a job done from which they benefit, let them get their own fleet!
The potential to make good money is what I'm getting from this. Nothing happening overnight. More people does it building customer trust and getting to know the person. Also the more money a person potentially makes? I don't know for sure but that's what I have taken from this video.
Go share sucks in general. You do get alerts about jobs and there is a countdown to select the project and even before the damn clock expires it says the project has been taken.. 👎
My brother-in-law walked into a Mercedes dealership & asked if they needed help. He got a job immediately with them as a "parts courier". He picks up & delivers parts for Mercedes. I don't know his schedule or if he uses his own car or not. Even auto parts stores need delivery drivers. They get calls from local car repair shops & they need a driver to bring the parts to local shops. Also, I have seen courier drivers for law offices. Some they drive their own cars, others were driving a company car.

You're a 1099 independent contractor. You can make up to $2500 a wk but not likely. I work for lab logistics. Most pay is based off of stops and or routes. I've been with them since the beginning. This is my 13th yr doing this.
In 2022 in the Minneapolis area I inquired about driving jobs delivering medical supplies and every one I contacted required the jab which I’m not doing. I have hadn’t had a ticket in 27 years, no criminal record, good credit rating and for decades I’ve delivered auto parts, pizza and now I’m working part time as a shuttle driver at a Chevrolet dealership. I’m an excellent driver and I could even work 3rd shift. It’s their loss.
These look pretty good to do :). I just wonder if any of these companies are looking for drivers in my medium town. I see the Dropoff has a lot of major cities but not small to medium towns/cities. But like any app, we need to make sure these apps service the places where we live. Or if you are somewhat close to a major city, if you are willing to travel over there then make that paper boo boo lmao. Thank you for the video I am glad I saw this one to look at other types of delivery services :).
I was noticing that myself a lot of the jobs are along the coastlines or the few big cities in the Midwest. That's the sacrifice big city big expenses big money making opportunities. Small cities less expensive less money making opportunities
There aren't many available in my area because some pharmacies snatched up most of contracts and business. Then set up their own pharmacy courier service for patients, AFH, clinics, etc.
This not true. this is a 25k-35k a year full time job. so making $2500 a WEEK is not going to happen. you are not likely going to make more then $500 a week and that's being available full time.
It's hard to make $2,500 a month doing this much less 2500 a week. Think about it he is saying you would make 120 Grand a year just driving medical supplies around town. 😂 Notice all the negative or (reality ) comments get deleted.
I work with my friend, he started his own business we deliver lab samples and kidneys and livers. He makes over 120k a year doing this. Im on track to make 70-75k this year, working under 40 hours a week. I’m not trying to discount your point. I’m sure many companies won’t pay that. But I’m trying to say there are some that will.
My friend when to drive for this same company but he said they're not paying well as compared to working with Uber. Like one discouraging news he shared with us was when you get at the hospital for the nurses on shift to come and get those specimens from you take forever.
Thank you sir for your knowledge of these companies that will offer folks who are looking to make some extra cash that's needed in this terrible economic downturn now. Treasure to share with all and great presentation.😊I'm going to try for all of them and hope that here in NC they have something available.

My ex did this in Tennessee and it's not what it's cracked up to be. You're an independent contractor, they pay you based on how long the route should take, not the actual time spent and the company is under investigation by the TN attorney general's office
Hope they have some considerations if you can prove your car is in good condition, there are other various opportunities in my channel that may be of your interest! 😊
My mom used to have a side hustle delivering film/photos for Kodak. Some to stores in malls, some to those little photo huts that were in parking lots….
Nothing is mentioned about the taxes involved as a contractor. What do the numbers look like after factoring in the taxes ? Or, for those who have been doing this for awhile, what numbers can you provide ?
IRS standard mileage deduction lowers your taxable income significantly. As an independent contractor you can take other deductions as well, like a home office. All these deductions mean you pay less takes owning your own business than if you are an employee.
Interesting video; I wish I had more time for experimentation, but I'll be 50 by June, and I'm looking for ideas and suggestions on what investments to acquire to set myself up for retirement, especially with the looming inflation; my goal is to have at least $5 million by the age of 65.
You should have commenced a long time ago, and given that you may have less time to closely manage your portfolio to meet your financial objective, I feel it is preferable that you get guidance from a financial specialist to assist you in developing a practical and feasible strategy.
I was making 1200 a week driving from lexington ky or louisville ky to ohio or tennessee. But you also got to put in mind on your deadhead, break downs, flat tires, fuel, food, tolls, etc. If you got a box truck or a sprinter van, youre obviously going to be making more than using a car/truck/suv

Personal auto polices will not provide coverage for this, so you will need a business auto policy
That is bad news for some. Are u sure about this? Commercial auto policies can get pretty expensive.
For what ? Turn over is head spinning
Coz it's not Real..
@@anthooony I'm not surprised. I was hoping this would be good for my brother-in-law.

Max you can get as a driver is $28-$32 an hr. Average is $25-$27. $2500 a week is a cdl truck driver going from one part of a country to another.

I believe it's .65 currently

Wow what an eye opener Steven! Good example of the lack of honesty and integrity. If you find a reputable company let us know!!

Yep, Easy!

@@JuddAlbringhow much u need to pay the insurance monthly ?

No it's not. It's trash pay when you use your own car.
