Wow how cool are you, there's some amazing blood in your veins young man who never seems to age 😃✌️🦘🇦🇺🐨🕊. Out of all the channels on RUclips, this is the only subject matter I personally sought out and subscribed to. The sisters remind me of the Collyer brothers, who were also well-off, but chose to live in isolation for decades, because of their obsessive hoarding. Thanks for sharing your ancestry. Most of us are global citizens, even if we don't know it yet.
We are all aware our ancestors come from different countries. No one is a global citizen, it’s ridiculous terminology to erase the sovereignty of countries.
I deeply appreciate your sensitive mention of the plight of the Irish in the 1800's. This piece of important history is often overlooked in the United States, despite the emphasis here on racial and other social rights equality. I am of Irish ancestry myself. Also, what a perfect sponsor for your channel! What a fascinating combination of countries for your own ancestry-I'm sure it will be very entertaining to delve deeper for you. The stories you choose to share here are always riveting & you tell them with such grace & composure. Wonderful as always!
My brother had a DNA test done and it answered a lot of questions I found odd about myself. Certain things appealed to me for reasons I did not understand. It makes sense now that I know what's in my DNA. Although we don't look it, we are Norwegian, Irish, English and a bit of East African. A great great grandfather turned out to be an 1800's British Prime Minister!
@@missclaw6598 Sorry, no family member from England have contacted us so until then, we would just wait and prefer they don't see it in a video comment off the internet. Wayward sons did not write home to tell the folks they had children with the natives. For now it is just a motivation for others to do/not do a DNA test. I loved how diverse your heritage results were; it's like you have parts of almost the whole world inside you. 😊 Great research on a fascinating story!
I did My Heritage, I originated from an orphanage in London...but found the truth...Family in the States..originating from Ireland and Then the Austro-Hungarian Empire....we get on so well.Sadly my father and brother have past...Also family in Essex😊Great channel...
My mother is from Mexico too 🥳🇲🇽. Consider doing a video on the San Patricios in Mexico. Very interesting history on Irish soldiers deserting the US army during the Mexican American war and fighting for Mexico.
How interesting is this: how rare it is to hear of such incredibly interesting information which deserves to be heard in memory of these great Irishmen
I enjoyed this story about wealthy socialite, Ida Wood, it was very intriguing. I'm curious as to what happened to her daughter who turned out to be a sister's daughter? Did she inherit from Ida Wood's estate? And, that was very interesting about your family history via DNA. Great investigating, and presentation, as well.
Very good video. I was thinking that she may have been blackmailed by someone who knew her true identity or at least that she wasn’t from a rich family in Louisiana. That would have caused a scandal that she and her sisters weren’t willing to face. Could that be the reason why she withdrew such a large sum of money and went into hiding, or possibly that the hiding in itself was a term from the blackmailer? I’m thinking that it may have been someone from the Louisiana family who after the war was destitute and saw the opportunity to compensate for Ida pretending to be from his or hers family. Just a thought.
The story was great , as usual. Your stories are always very interesting and very well researched. Also , thanks for sharing your DNA results. You are truly a man of the world 🌎 ❤ . I had mine done and I am only from 3 countries . My ancestors didn't get around much.😅
Not surprised at all that she decided to hide away, at some point everything catches up to you. I definitely went through a period similar to this. Coming out now but mine lasted 5 years..

Your channel is fascinating and whenever I come across it whilst searching for something completely different ... I end up watching 2 or 3 of your videos. I so appreciate your inclusion of the vintage photos and illustrations of the past. My mother passed away at 101 years old and had kept such a good family record that I've a pretty good idea of where we came from (even though she would tell me that I came from the moon!). I still may go for the DNA kit ...
🧐 Why Nicholas has such a variety of nationalities: a) His great great great great grandad was a very handsome Pirate who had beautiful women waiting for him at various exotic islands and established ports around the world 😎 b) He comes from a line of international playboys that settled in various countries to lay down their roots 😉 c) His ancestors were musicians, either on upscale cruise ships or the traveling circus! d) His ancestor was a beautiful Princess that owned magical things and exceptional at math and war tactics, making her quite a catch, but she was kidnapped from her home by invading forces then coerced to marry the invading country’s crown Prince and birth his heirs. When that ruling country was overthrown she once again was kidnapped and made to marry that invading country’s Prince and birth his heirs. And once again it happened, the magical Princess was taken, but she escaped with all her beautiful kiddies to Europe somewhere, or Mexico legend says..thus solving the mystery of Nicholas crazy background!
Enjoyed this very much. Ida seemed to be very smart in some of her earlier life decisions. Your heritage was very interesting also. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing the fascinating story of Ida Wood. Back in the 1980's I was given a book written by Joseph A. Cox, acting as the Public Administrator of New York County in Ida's case, called "The Recluse of Herald Square" by a co-worker. I kept the book hoping to get round to reading it one day. I am only now finally reading it and am currently half way through. It's an incredibly intriguing story. I wish it hadn't taken me nearly forty years to read it! Thank you Jennifer!
I really loved the myheritage kit I used! I had a wide range of results like you It's interesting to hear you have Mexican heritage - I would not have guessed! Cheers for another great video!

your heritage. well, we always will be surprise because some family members don't talk about all families and sometimes, none at all. but bear in mind, that people travelled and migrated at lot back then and still do over the centuries not to mention, having a family with different nations, weather they hook up while passing through or in marriage ect. goes to show that we are all one big family
I don't know if it was used in prepration for this excellent video, but there's a very interesting book about Ida Wood called "The Recluse of Herald Square -- The Mystery of Ida Wood" by Joseph A. Cox and published in 1964. Recommended reading! --- Also, is the hotel still standing? It would be fun to visit the rooms where the ladies lived for so long and, according to the book, never got direct sunlight.
Congratulations on being part Italian! I'm a little less than 1/2 Italian. The surprise in my ancestry in the mostly English side was that I can't imagine where the tiny bit of Norwegian, and of Icelandic, came from.
You certainly have quite a mix in your background! I turned out to be 100 percent Northern European. Irish, Scottish, English, French, German and Swiss. Both parents were born in Arkansas and apparently both had deep roots in Europe . 23and me also gives Neanderthal in a backward way saying I have more Neanderthal than 28 per cent of the population. The report changes periodically as more people sign on, so I can't wait to see what comes up. BTW, 24 years is not so long when you live to be 94. They should have helped her clean out a,little and left her there. I think the shock of being forcibly move did a number on her weakening her immune system.
Now that you've learned of your heritage, you're going to have to learn A LOT of new languages to cover the forgotten lives of people from all those places! Both Ida's story and yours were fascinating. The strangest thing about your genetic history is that you don't appear to be related to Kubla Khan - which puts you at odds with the majority of the world! 😀
I don't know why living as a recluse is considered "crazy" or "madness" I think more people would do it if they could afford too. The financial crisis probably changed people somewhat too and so the sisters thought well this is no fun to be around anymore we're not suicidal or too poor though so let's just go waste our years away from others. Wealth is a luxury for some they don't have to do what they don't want to do anymore some can afford a car so they don't have to use public transit some can afford a hotel room and to be left alone completely just opening the door for room service and laundry occasionally. I have watched dozens of videos now of people saving to live off grid in tiny homes just so they can retire away from society too. They will probably still need to go out for supplies every few weeks though the sisters did not they just had a bunch of cash and could send a maid to get them clothes or food or anything and then tip them well not to pester them. As wealthy women they would probably be targetted maybe assaulted by the poor too fear of robbery or violence kept them isolated too.
I know what I'm looking for in a DNA test but I haven't found it, I might try this one, has your talented family also did this test? I would like to submit my DNA test to the Codis to help fight crime, I'm aware of the people that could do wrong even in families. I'm not ashamed of the past criminal activity of past it's them not me, I have a cousin who was released from a prison for the fact they were apart of something horrible, but it is what it is, this is all I'm giving here.
There is a lot of association between the Middle East and North Africa, and Spain, so that's not really that surprising. Interesting, but not surprising. (My mom's family has a whopping dose of Scandinavian despite having no documented Scandinavian ancestors, probably because a lot of Vikings ended up in Scotland, where we do have documented ancestry.)
Haha, as a Finnish person I welcome you anytime, I will damn sure make that test one day, I know I have genes from Germany, but that's all, I find those tests so damn interesting. Now back to the vid
