I've heard this song more times than I can count. I have to thank Wil Farrel whos wife is Swedish. They apparently spend a great deal of time in Sweden. I have to think it was his idea to include her song and voice in the movie. When I found the song was in fact a real song and that Husavik is fact a real place the song took on more meaning and feeling than it already had for me. I think it gives me chills because I recently discovered my Scandinavian blood and the way she paints that world is as much epic as it is beautiful. I think of jagged peaks etched by mighty fjords silver moon in an ink black night sky giving way to a shimmering snowscape. There atop a bluff a lone silver furred wolf shimmering in the moonlight undoubtedly the ruler of everything his electric blue eyes rest on. In sea just beyond beyond the fjord, the aurora cascades off the mirrored surface as a the king of the northern seas makes his presence known with a mighty breach of the waters as the spray takes on the colorful hues of the northern lights before settling back into its mirror. My imagination jumps to this every time hear this song.
Love of small town and neighbors, proper old school nostalgia that we all cherish within ourselves at our core, great melody, really good singer, children’s choir, lyrics about the Northern Lights and then there actually ARE Northern lights in the background!!! Yup, this old sap even got teary eyed on top of chills. Very cool experience. Thank You 🙏🏻
Husavik is a wonderful little town in The north of Iceland. I have been there on whalesafari. Molly is fantastic and the movie is a real feel good movie. Thank you for this reaction.
