I think that the reason for the dotted line of step 2 of the automa is, that there is ALWAYS a following action, whereas in other cases it depends on certain situations if the automa will continue or not. Step 2 (placing of water) always follows a next step...it`s never only step 2 (placing waterdrops) alone.

Its hard to follow a video where you have doubts about the rules. Are you going to post a new playthrough now when you got the rules down?

20.30 when you thought the automa would produce you placed two engineers and didn't take them back after you realized it could not produce. A few minutes later you did the same on water management with one engineer. Not so strange he didn't have any engineers left for that round! 😄

At 17:37 you must build powerhouse based on 3rd structure rule without going through criteria on tile because there's only one space available. You haven't read page 9 and go directly on table criteria.

At 25:30 the two basins between you have to choose are 8-9(see reference map on rules) because you must see the current condition (if the action phase ends now and water phase starts) without thinking on what could be happen after automa/player takes actions.

I found the information on what is part of each terrain on page 5 under "Important Concepts", "The Game Map" - where the number of basin and buildings is listed. Thanks for the playthrough!

I'm only 16 min into the video so maybe you figured this out later, but I believe the dotted outline with the arrow around the second automa action spot is a reminder that when the automa performs that action, its turn continues instead of ends. It seems the second action is either getting rid of a contract or a headwater action, neither of which end the automa's turn when performed. All the other actions end the automa's turn when it performs them.

Ha, if I just watched 30 sec more, you came to the same realization. :D

I think you used two of the automa´s engineers in round 1 for energy production without actually producing... Great video either way

26:00 to place a dam I think you must consider only free water, not that are blocked by other dams. So, I placed the dam on the left position. But I'm not really sure. What happens if there are only blocked drops?

Thank you for the gameplay. I try to play barrage solo and I had almost the same doubts. Then I came here to watch your video. I think that sometimes it is confusing and the rules does not explain some points clearly. Also, the boot keep doing actions that it is not properly for him. I will try again this weekend and I hope I could play better after seeing your video. Congratulation for the video!

Thanks for this video, Paul -- a somewhat haphazard playthrough it must be said -- I haven't tried the solo mode, but I did play a 3-player game and play as all the players... Biggest confusion I ran up against was interpreting some of the contract rewards, esp the ones that seem to give you free structures like a Conduit on a 2-space and base lvl 1 Dams in certain areas, etc... This does seem to make some of the contracts a bit more powerful than others. Overall, though, a positive experience, despite the 4-5 hrs it took me to play through entirely on my own... I suspect a game with real opponents will move a lot quicker now that I have the basics in my head... Lol

I'm currently going through the rules and thought this video might be helpful - I especially struggle with the placement criteria when building. At 1:47:05 shouldn't the first criterium already fit, i.e. the base should have been placed at basin #8. ?

What is your opinion on the solo on this, Paul?

I think it could be good if I could get my head around the solo rules, which I know they have clarified since I did this video (based on how confused I was) :)
