In Ireland drink is just taken as a given if you dont drink socially you’ll feel very left out that’s why I drunk but I never learned how to drink properly this led to binge drinking to deal with social anxiety, it took me to get to 48 to realise that my drinking was out of control so I decided to quit in December 2019, it’s not been easy due to covid lockdowns and historical reasons why I drunk but the alternative to keep drinking was a dead end,so here I am sober and trying to make a life away from the booze it’s challenging but the alternative is worse .. keep up the good work Kevin.

Drinking alcohol is normal in most places in the western world. You'd be surprised at some of the places my clients come from. It's unreal.

@@HabitsV2 not only the western world,i see this in thailand with retirees too, though most are european or north american.Mind boggling how drinking 20 beers a night or a bottle of half of rum is considered the norm amongst many of these people and i decided to myself of decades of observing the effects this lifestyle has not just on the person but their suffering wives or gfs not to have this kind of lifestyle when i move there.

Over five years for me and going strong! I’ve had many ups and downs like everyone but I had to ( continuously learning) learn how to handle the low’s and manage life’s problem’s without the emotional part of my brain taking over. I’m an over thinker too and have to challenge my thoughts so as not to get worked into a mental frenzy which leads to depression and bad choices! And lots of exercise and healthy activities that reward my brain and body! Also I’ve listened to a lot of RUclips videos over the years , thank you Habits Unplugged! There is no magic pill, remember that, you have to make a decision to change and that comes and different times to everyone in different ways. Good luck to everyone! You have the ability to break free! God bless!

This is so true I've lived in Ireland 15 years now I'm from Newcastle I find here no where near as bad for the drink compared to there it's crazy when I visit 🙈
    Thanks

Been feeling the negative effects get worse and worse the last two years. Did two periods of 2 months sober the last two years. However, i sent back to drikking just as much. Now I’m ready to kick it. It’s only been 3 weeks, but I have a different view of it now. Saw the neuroscience behind it on Andrew Huberman, recommended it to everyone.
Here in Norway it’s so normal to get drunk, and you’re weird if you don’t drink. Especially if you’re only 27 like me.

It's the same in Ireland, in most of the western world, to be honest. You'd be surprised at some of the stories I hear from clients about the pressure that is put on them from society.

I had "phantom hangovers" but I was more thoughtful this time round, like your "different view". It helps to step back and view what is happening to you and the videos available from Huberman and Kevin and others eg illustrations of what goes on metabolically in your gut, liver, circulatory system all help to understand that this is more than just giving up for a few months but a totally new way of seeing and a resumption of your life.

"Change your thoughts and you change the world." Norman V. Peale Thank you for a great video. Hope you don't have a cold now, maybe allergies which can be just as bad.

When you change your thoughts, it certainly can change your world alright... I was getting over a dose of the Kovid when I filmed this one... feel grand now though. Thanks for asking...

Brother, been trying to follow your message for the last 5 years. I find truth and freedom in nature, like you.
    Question.
Years ago you were in Spain, looked great, but a tad dry and dusty.
Your surroundings look very different now, central Europe?
Would love to know which country you're in now - cheers.
Thanks for your inspiration mate, I keep coming back and finding your message.
