idk where i saw it but i saw a video of a semi going 30 mph with a ford explorer's back to a concrete wall and all SUV's except the Explorer got turned into a accordion. Actually THE safest full sized SUV someone can own is an explorer
I had a 2003 Explorer and had a bad accident. It totaled the other car, and I didn't have anything except a black tire mark. Then I had a 2015 Explorer, and just a few months ago, I was turning left off a 2 lane hwy onto a gravel road. The car behind me says he was distracted, and when he noticed I had my brakes on, he instinctively swerved to the left which is the way I was turning. The speed limit was 60 mph. He was speeding and never tried to brake. There were no tire marks and I heard no screeching before I was unconscious. I am having back issues fixed right now, BUT I left the accident on my feet. Of course my muscles and a few herniated/ discs made me sore but I didn't die. The driver t boned me and an Explorer saved me again. It is totaled, but I'm alive. I swear by Explorers and my next driving driving child will have one. The ONLY bad thing about the last Explorer is that I got t-boned in excess of 60 mph and the air bag did not go off. I'm not sure if it was because I was turning slow onto the gravel or what. I was disappointed with that, but honestly, I probably did better with it not deploying. It does concern me that it didn't deploy when my car was pushed about a football length sideways down the road. I have had accidents that could have killed me, and I am determined that Exploers have allowed me to leave the scene myself and not in am ambulance.
As a certified estimator and insurance damage appraiser I can tell you there is not increased safety for police cruisers, only power and suspension upgrades and a higher output alternator and bigger battery for the lights and equipment. You will not find any cosmetic or structural changes between a civilian car or a squad.
@@Skulljeep00 Yup, extra cooling, extra electrical power, stiffer suspensions, steel wheels, maybe bigger or better brakes (in some applications) but otherwise they are the same structurally
just was in a car crash in a 2021 ford explorer and i cannot say enought goo things, i was trvaeling around speeds of 50 mph and the guy hit me almost head on. right on the front left tire, tire came off and everything... I walked away with only cuts
Not the 2024 but rather the 2023. I know that they are essentially the same but when the video title says 2024 but the vehicle in the video says 2023 it brings into question the validity of the whole video.
Looks great except that it comes off the ground easily. Rollover may be a concern. I wonder how the top holds up.
That’s a whole lot better than generation before it!

Tesla model x
That video was a simulation and not an actual test.
@@elliehudelson9765, Volvo XC 90 better?
@@lordbeezy1349 I saw this video too
nice, it did good on their updated tests
Police versions are more beefed up tho
in their structure? I thought it was just their added cooling and heavy duty suspension hardware
@@Butchcub75 you know they do have tuned PCMs also.....

@@Skulljeep00 oh wow...if I was a cop I would want a roll cage on there. All them high speed chases

The crash test may be all that the Explorer needs to fix its crappy transmission 🙃
