Shekhar, I don’t think the duration should be of any concern - what really matters is how cluttered, complex and chaotic is the topic.
Sometimes the topic might have many layers and repercussions requiring more explanations and hence a lengthy narrative while in other cases it might not have the layers but needs interpretation of reading between the lines/words and could be of a shorter duration.

This episode of cut the clutter is not really cutting any clutter regarding PFI, it's role in fomenting trouble in various parts of the country, taking support from various terrorist organisations, sending it's cadres to fight along with ISIS, etc.,etc. This is the most disappointing episodes among all you have made so far. in fact PFI cadres will be very happy with this as the hard truth about what's happening in South India in account of these forces will not be known to your listeners from this episode. Kerala was being converted into a Islamist terror hub aided by both left and congress fronts since past two decades. I know it's not politically correct for Sekharji to expose radical ismalists for who or what they really are. ( More so since they don liaftist mantle too which is woke)
TBH, I've never met a Hindu Keralite in my life. Delhi University has a lot of Malayali students, and everyone's either Muslim/Christian ..most having a really radical outlook to things in general, heavily influenced by Communist ideology.
Because of this, I've never felt good about Malayalis and I used to wonder how can people coming from God's Own Country be so cold and irrational. And im not the only one, most people I know ended up developing the perception abouy Malayalis. However, the more I read about Kerala politics the more I understand.

Removing the traitors from their holes takes time, once they are exposed then it is the right time to take action. Banning such organizations will not work unless the root cause is addressed.
PFI SDPI and all similar types are strategic outfits of Congress and its branches or clones like SP,NCP, Udhav Sena, NCP, DMK, TRS SP, NC AAP etc. Only party whose welfare is in its heart is BJP.

Nothing will happen with the ban, the work PFI has done will take another route, evolution is the theory... and PFI doesn't have worst background like RSS & sangh pariwar ( like real bomb blast of Ajmer, Malegoan, Makka masjid, samjhota express) and the recent testimony from the Maharashtra RSS person that RSS planted bombs in all over India to help BJP etc,
So crushing and Ideological part with opposition with further create stronger support, unlike Congress, who cut the roots of Muslims organisation in the name of Muslim appeasement.
BJP is a rightwing party, so the action will further strengthen the Muslim based parties and will evolve further. There are two ways to neutralise a society one is directly plucking out of radicals (definitely not an easy task) another is creating virtual leaders to cater the or neutralise the radical minded people.

The PFI’s Islamist and violence in Kerala has destroyed the Kerala’s Congress vote bank which was Upper caste Hindus and Christian’s with the Muslim league as its coalition partner. Now Christian’s and upper caste Hindus vote for any party that ally’s with any Muslim party because the PFI has tarnished the reputation of Muslims in the state. Most of my family who have been Congress supporters, have vowed to only vote for the BJP because only they can counter the violence and hatred from the PFI.

Shekhar sir, educated 'guess' is so much flawed and dangerous that tomorrow you will say BJP had propped up PFI. Imagine if it was banned between 2014-2019, then I guess this 'unanimity' across political spectrum would not have happened. This ban is not to be done simply by a gazette notification alone but has to be backed up by building case against the organization legally, politically and socially. PFI should not be allowed to banned to create martyrdom and more division.
Shekhar is so deeply ingrained in politics that sometimes he doesn't see things as they are. He always look for some politics into it even if it is non existant.

People in liberal media like Shekhar Gupta have supported PFI indirectly by supporting likes of Safoora Zargar or S Kappan or Rana Ayyub. Waiting for Kapil Sibal to fight for PFI along with lawyers like Indira Jaising who all worked on Hadiya case for free. In case of Hadiya the poor father did everything to save his daughter from PFI clutches, Kerala HC for a change went with father but likes of Kapil Sibal supported PFI. PFI spent to close of 1 crore by getting media to talk on rights of choice with Barkha, Sagarika, Rana and even Shekhar defended Hadiya choice thereby supporting PFI.
One thing is true from all opposition parties messages (pro- Muslims, or Muslim vote bank parties) that they are Soft in criticize and trying NOT much to lose their votes, Everything for votes..

Seriously Shekhar? To reduce everything to politics to justify not banning PFI all these years is quite lame and lazy. Before taking any such major decisions which may have far reaching support, one needs to take a lot of factors into account - evidence gathering (even now quite a few are challenging the legal validity of this move), assessing the impact on the overall social harmony, understanding the larger network of these organisations etc.
I really appreciate the effort SG puts into these cut the clutter and we really don't mind a 30 min CTC..

I really enjoy Cut the Clutter for its objective view on current affairs. Unfortunately this episode reeked with anti BJP bias. You are not in a position to comment on who are the secular and communal forces in Indian politics. The Vajpayee government banned SIMI a step which no Congress government took - better late than never. In my humble opinion, the facts should be presented as they are without any judgement. The lady 10 minutes of the video about the BJP strategy were uncalled for.
We want every topic be given its fair share. Some topics are more cluttered, they deserve more time.

The assumption that an active PFI wins votes for BJP is flawed. PFI isn't the beginning or the end of this issue. PFI is a product of it's environment and it's that environment which pushes people to vote one way or the other. Most people aren't political minded or keep up with the activities of organisations like PFI but they are perceptive to their environment. Now, if the argument was that banning PFI will win votes for BJP, that's much more plausible.
I am frankly agnostic to the length of CTC episodes - I'd like you to take longer if you think the topics requires depth. Few extra minutes is not that big of a deal. In any case, I listen on 2x speed; so a 30 minute episode takes 15 minutes to listen

That's good for the brain like reading a book, the info gets assimilated and added to knowledge. PFI is nothing but modern day Razakars. Just like Sardar Patel took police action and crushed Razakars during merger of Nizam's Hyderabad into India. Similarly action is required by Indian state to crush PFI otherwise they will break Kerala from India

Most of Muslims in Kerala are in Northern area of Kozhikode (formerly Calicut). Most of christians are in Cochin (central part), and rest of people (Hindus) are in Southern part, Tiruvanathapuram and down.
SG always find fault wit BJP, looks the the world/India (his) was very heaven before BJP.
Interesting to note that most of these Islamist organisation/Political parties were founded or have a strong hold in the "Secular, Well-off" South India, rather than North India where BJP holds sway.

I agree with most of other comments here. 20 mins might be too short. If the subject merits 30 mins of CTC, it's not that bad after all. Let the material dictate the length of CTC, but let the time length be not more than early 30s. After that it starts to feel bit long.

PFI was banned at the right moment, just a few month before the elections in Karnataka. Also, they were becoming a threat to BJP (and to society at large) so it a good that PFI was banned. PFI was largly responsible for the riots in Bangalore, a very shameful incident.
Please get you facts straight, Mr. Shekar. Most of the time I know you are right but this time you are just fumbling. In Kerala many Panchayats are governed by CPI(M) with the full support from SDPI (Political wing of PFI). Both Left and Right (UDF and LDF) governments in Kerala have been nurturing and pampering PFI for all these years, since it's inception. One could easily see how deep-rooted these monsters are in the state of Kerala by just looking at the havoc and destruction they caused on the recent Hartal. Many Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) members work stealthily for PFI in the night and become secular in broad day light. There is an awful nexus between, CPI(M)-SDP and UDF-SDP in Kerala. Let me correct you, all most in all Malayalam channel debates Congress and Communist panelists are spending more time drawing equivalence between RSS and the filthy PFI thereby diluting the gravity of terrorist activities slapped on PFI by NIA. Only a brain dead, stupid vermin can dare compare the great nationalist Organization RSS with the scumbag and pukes like PFI, SDPI.. etc.
We need seriously good casework and convictions. PFI wasn't founded solely because of domestic politics, similar to SIMI, it has consistent foreign support and funding. To go after them you need solid casework and convictions in our Judiciary.

So I got it Shekar Sir.....you mean to say that the organisation which formed in 2007 and began to show its terrorism inclination from 2011 onwards was not band from 2011 itself because it suited the BJP. Meaning Manmohan Govt and the Congress state govt were actually working for BJP. OK. So is it also means that SIMI, which was formed in 70s and soon shown its terrorism inclination was not bend by Congress, Janta or Third front Govt because they wanted BJP to grow. Since this is on youtube where 'long form podcast' are so successful. People are use to long conversations/monologues. and actually like it. I think reducing epsiode length is great for monetization but for long term visibility - the epsiode length should increase as and when required by the topic.
The CTC did not cut the clutter on why the SIMI & PFI kind of organization has flourished in southern states and especially in Kerala. Can you do a CTC on this? Kerala has 100% literacy; it has so called secular government for decades still this has happened? Many people expected this kind of thing to start from Northern states but it's been the opposite. I read an scientific article which says, if you want to have your city/ state/ country sanitized from stray/ street dogs.
YOU NEED TO ACT FAST- capture, sterilize all dogs with in 2 months to have long lasting peace. Else process wont be effective, because dogs breed very fast and grow very rapidly due availability of waste food and dog lover( I don't mean indgineous secular-socialist)
