A bit of advice on these (and most) plants, try to not repot them so much. It puts additional stress on the plants. Smaller is usually better. Good job bringing it back!

Most commercial succulent and cactus mix has too much peat and not nearly enough drainage material. If you have nothing else get some Perlite and mix that half and half with your commercial succulent soil. If possible get some small pumice to to add. 1/4 pumice, 1/4 perlite, and about half succulent soil. You could even do more mineral in your mixture depending on the succulent you are dealing with. The terracotta was a really good moved. Plastic and ceramic pots hold moisture in.
My favorite Portulacaria Afra was growing beautifully but then suddenly I saw it was dropping leaves. I thought that I had done everything right! (Never assume that)! So I watered it thinking that because it was summer maybe it needed more water. Wrong. Finally I decided that I needed to repot it. When I took it out of the pot I saw that the soil had gradually sunk down into the planter and piled up in one area which caused the roots to sit in damp soil. All of the volcanic rock was at the upper level of the pot and the soil was down below! 🥲The poor thing!
So I have repotted it and I am not going to water it for a while. I repotted it in dry soil. I guess that I will just watch it for a while. I’m not real sure what else to do at this point. One lesson learned is that I will not use that mix again. I will stick with soil, perlite and pumice for now. My poor little tree. It was looking so nice and now it looks like a maple in the fall.☹️

I'm sure you probably know this, but if not the sound of the camera adjusting its zoom is a bit distracting. I'm distracted by squirrels tho so..
