UPDATE! Monstera Deliciosa Variegata
2. Years. Later. I have't made a video in over a year, so as I was rewatching some of my old clips, I decided that it would be good to show this plant's success after a lot of time had gone by. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions below!

  • @ellietobe
    @ellietobe 2 года назад

    Most commercial succulent and cactus mix has too much peat and not nearly enough drainage material. If you have nothing else get some Perlite and mix that half and half with your commercial succulent soil. If possible get some small pumice to to add. 1/4 pumice, 1/4 perlite, and about half succulent soil. You could even do more mineral in your mixture depending on the succulent you are dealing with. The terracotta was a really good moved. Plastic and ceramic pots hold moisture in. My favorite Portulacaria Afra was growing beautifully but then suddenly I saw it was dropping leaves. I thought that I had done everything right! (Never assume that)! So I watered it thinking that because it was summer maybe it needed more water. Wrong. Finally I decided that I needed to repot it. When I took it out of the pot I saw that the soil had gradually sunk down into the planter and piled up in one area which caused the roots to sit in damp soil. All of the volcanic rock was at the upper level of the pot and the soil was down below! 🥲The poor thing! So I have repotted it and I am not going to water it for a while. I repotted it in dry soil. I guess that I will just watch it for a while. I’m not real sure what else to do at this point. One lesson learned is that I will not use that mix again. I will stick with soil, perlite and pumice for now. My poor little tree. It was looking so nice and now it looks like a maple in the fall.☹️ My

    I've had huge success rooting them in soil, the key is putting them in a humidity box (I use a clear tote and clear lid), put a glass of water in there to keep the humidity up. My water propogation has been sitting in water for two weeks and no roots still, the soil cuttings have roots already :). Just don't forget to air them out once a day so it doesn't get modly.

I'm about to finally repot her because she's sprouting like crazy, It came in a 2 gallon pot and I've been told I need to repot it in a 5 gallon pot and add soil on the top? Also watering and plant food, what are the usual amounts? I was going to get a bottom watering pot but then seen to not because of root rot or something. Sorry for all the question. lol if anyone has suggestions id appreciate it lol

    . Ive heard u should do like a 1-2 inch cutting on the small side. I did that and removed all but the top leaves so roots are it's focus not foliage. I took 2 cuttings and are both doing really well and the roots are longer every day. I've never ever propogated before but did bad with my succulents so I'm trying to do those too. I wasn't sure when to plant. The roots aren't huge but they are each about 1 inch root almost if not. Can I plant any time? And how u care for it while it is establishing Itself?
