Came here for help and this video was perfect!!! I was so worried that the pinker stem was because i was burning mine in the sunlight. But it looks just likes yours. Thank you!
It's also worth mentioning how crucial it is to let it scab over. I propagate my jades all the time without setting them out. So I tried that with my elephant plant and they all rotted. This was really upsetting because I gave the mother as a gift because I was sure they would root😭

I followed your method. It worked. Thanks!
Thank You so much for sharing! A great video with helpful tips. I think this plant can look good in any part of the garden :)
Madam great video! I live in Texas and this plant thrives in the hot sun! I forget to water but when I do water again they say "Hallelujah" and keep on thriving!
I live in Texas too and I had mine in shade all year and it shows 😔 I just put her outside in part shade/sun and we’ll see how she grows. 😁
I am also in Texas and have one that has been outside since i bought it in spring. Do you bring it inside in winter?
@ladylove34 No, outside all the time. During winter when the freeze warning happens, I water the roots thoroughly, then place blankets over it, then the blue tarp. I secure the tarp with bigger rocks and stakes. This plant weathers the cold and wind, when covered! Had this lovely plant for 20 years!
@@jaqita53 Awesome! Thank you!!
Great video, very helpful. Thank you
Thanks, a useful video. Tim
Very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you,was very helpful
Thanks for making this video
Thank you, i just planted 3 pots of cuttings from my mother plant and i know its time to repot the mother. This is my absolute favorite plant tbh and i even ate a leaf after anither video i viewed before doing cuttings. Wish id have seen yours that shows how to see the callous but i did leave them out for a few days if not a week before planting.
It's pretty forgiving plant so you will be fine
Thank you!
I love the way she talks 😂
Thank you
I've had one for 2 years now. It's got some babies with it now but I've never seen any small pink flowers on mine.
May be after it's rootbound
Thank you for the informative video!!

Hello my new plant friend!! I have an elephant bush video as well! Loved watching my dear!
Ver y nieve I lo ve it!!!
Actually the cuttings after placing it in soil it can also be kept in direct sunlight but frequent watering is required if kept in direct sunlight n it'll grow quickly
that’s how I propagate mine! I water them nearly every day until they get their nice shiny coating
I found a plant like this by coincidence. I found it in a balcony with its roots exposed cause it had no soil (the pot fell) I didn't care about it. I left it for a few weeks not caring about it, but surprisingly it's was still alive. The first thing that came into my mind was that it was a succulent cause it only mainly needs sunlight to thrive and only a few water, also a little bit of soil was still stuck at its roots.
Then I took it into my house cause like I decided to get a house plant and might as well get this plant. I took care of it, gave it the correct cactus soil mix, and placed it beside my window.
JervyGG How many robux was it
The variegated jade can also kept in full sunlight

I’m following this and let’s see how my succulent goes !
A year ago, I had 2 plants in a mixed arrangement. Unfortunately the first one died out. Now the second one is dropping a lot of leaves one or 2 each week and I am afraid that I am going to lose it as well. I hope that by following your method I can save it.
Most probably it's getting too much water
Thanks for the video. How do I know if my plant is dormant? And do I just water it less then? I thought my plant was dying but you mentioned that they go dormant in the winter months and mine started to shrivel up about a month ago.
Is the soil dry on touch? If yes, then water it.
I just posted a video about elephant bush too! Thanks for the info!
It was a very informative video as well. Thank you.
Thank you!
I trimmed mine to both propagate, but also to start forming it into a bonsai, so I'm fattening the trunk. My question is, after taking cuttings from the mother plant, how should you treat it in terms of water and sun? Thank you!
Initially only indirect sun and keep the soil moist to dry
Wow I’m finding out such helpful information on your site!! So I got a clipping of the “elephant bush succulent” about two weeks ago but I didn’t know what I was doing so I placed it a jar of water and it’s sitting by a window, I just noticed a “very tiny” root growing should I leave it in water or should I plant it in soil? I also did not give it the chance to dry out for a couple of days. I got the clipping and it went immediately into water. Please advise!
Thank you (quickly becoming a huge fan!!)
Sharon
I never knew you can grow them in water. Wait till the root grows at least an inch and then plant. Keep me posted how it does.
How did it work out?
@@jomama6889 it worked out well! I want it to bush out more so I’ll be clipping and repotting
How do they become bushy? And thank u your video was helpful.
If you keep pruning them they grow new branches from the cut area and becomes bushy
Hi. I’m new to gardening and I’ve just acquired an elephant bush (I’ve had it for about a month now) It’s doing just fine but do you have any tips for fertilizing? Brands? How often? Your video is great by the way!
They don't need any fertilizer. Once it becomes too big for the current planter, transplant it and that will give new nutrients to it
Do you water the cutting immediately after you put them in soil or should wait for the roots to grow first??
If you waited for the callous to form before planting, you can water it immediately otherwise wait for a few days
Hi my rainbow bush has lost all of it's leaves. Can I still use the stems alone for propagation? Very informative video ! TIA
Yes you can, may be it's being overwatered

My elephant bush cuttings always wilt badly during the few days I allow for callousing.
You can put it in fresh soil directly after cutting but then water after a few days
Hi, it's very informative. I am facing an issue with my elephant bush. Here in Mumbai summer time 40 digree and humidity is high too) When i bought it, its stems were all red but now it's turning green slowly. I tweaked its soil because the soil was so compacted that a stick was not able to go inside the soil. So i reduced the soil and mixed perlite. I don't know what to do next. What should i do? Should I give some vermi compost? Please help me 🙏 Thank you
I think it's doing fine. Just protect it from harsh afternoon sun
Hi I re planted cuttings but forgot to let them callus over. I got excited and skipped that step. Will they still grow or should I take them out and let them callus?
If you have not watered them, the callous will form inside the soil too
Hello thank you for ur video and ur plant looks beautiful , my question is I have two of them and the branches are growing well Do I have to cut them to propagate or can I leave them growing the way they are?thank you.
If you want to make more plants, make a cutting else let them grow
Hello there I cut 2 stems of did exactly as u did now it’s been a week and it’s ready to go to my south window, my question is do I water it or not? Ty
@@thahabmustafa2149 you can water it after you plant it just so that the soil is moist
Hello! I live in South East Asia so we don't get the 4 seasons. We only have summer and rainy season.Do the rules regarding propagation in four-season areas also apply to areas like mine? For example, do elephant bush plants also become dormant in a two-season country?
It will not go dormant. I would think that it can propagate at any time in your climate
@@EasyPeasyGardening thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Can you post a care video about Christmas cactus
I am making one. Waiting for it to bloom for last two years.
Hello! i need some help right now! so i was repotting my elephant bush into a new pot. I think I over loosened the soil and the roots started to break apart. Its not as compacted in the pot... will the plant still survive? Should I just grow them out separately?
Just compact the soil a bit so that the stems are supported and leave it. It will survive
Easy Peasy Gardening thank you!!!
Yoko H how is it doing now?
Hi Ruchi I'm Teddy from Jakarta... I have that plant.I bought it at the local garderner here.. At the first time it look very health, but then the leaves is getting more and more fall and drop until it's look bald and sad .... But I hope you can help me..i realized I watering my plant every 3 days .. I think I over watering it.. Could you help me what I supposed to do to help my elephant bush plants ..
Should I change the soil? Should I change the pot?
Yes, you are overwatering it. Water only when the soil is completely dry. Does the planter have drainage at the bottom? Does it get some direct sun?
HELP! I've had my Portulacaria Afra Variegata for years but it gets smaller every year. The leaves are tiny. If I put it in full sun it burns. If I put it in bright shade, the leaves stay tiny. It improved a little when I started watering it a lot more often but it's still tiny. I'm at the end of my rope. What to do? You's is so nice and big. I live in Texas. over 100 degree heat every summer and the humidity varies wildly from 13% to 85% on a daily basis. I gave up on growing any kind of succulent with a forina. They always get sick and die. Any suggestions for the Portulacaria? Thanks a million.
May be start a new stem when the weather is mild
I love in cold climate Can I plant my new Elephant Bush outside in the spring? If so, will it bloom again next spring?
It may not survive the winter in the ground but if you plant it in a planter then you can bring it inside in winters.
Please help me my elephant bush plant leaves turning into yellow color and started falling leaves i don't know how to care this plant..it was a gift from my friend..does it need sunlight?i kept it in my room...help me with its ventilation, watering and all...when i was searching google i found that it shouldn't get direct sunlight..i don't know what to do..please help me out..
*not yellow...its white.
Please reduce watering and give it enough sun light
Thank you so much for helping me.. my plant becomes better now..thank you..😊
I could not get what she said for the type of soil. What kind? All purpose ok?
All purpose is ok but succulent soil mix is better
My elephant bush stems are turning white..is it drying or fungal infections?what should I do? 😢
If the infection is restricted to a branch, cut it away. If it's in the main stem, clean it with diluted hydrogen peroxide solution
Hello. I just bought elephant bush plant but stem don't seem to be red like yours. Why?
Are the leaves plain green or variegated?
Do you need to callus if you are propagating by water?
I think they will rot in water
I've had my elephant bush for 3 years, never seen a flower... :(
More light?(: light is always the key!
@@dulcecarbajal5877 thank you I'll try that
So what you're saying is that when my cutting dried out and I soaked it that was a bad thing 😂
They don't like too much water, it may be ok to keep it in water for a few hours
mine has pink edges on the leaves is that unhealthy? Also can you do it during winter?
No that's good. Ping or reddish line is good. You will get better results in Spring.
@@EasyPeasyGardening great thank you
My plant have no leaves but have root can repot it with root or cut the roof . Thank for your responding.
What happened to the leaves? If the leaves dried and fell off, you need to water it more often or may be it's getting too much sun. May be you are over watering or may be it's not getting the sun. You must first find the root cause although this plant drops leaves very easily. If you think that the roots are healthy, I would suggest that make sure it gets some direct sun light and prune the branches may be an inch to promote growth.

Thank you
Mam is it necessary to plant the root itself or can we plant the stem of it?
You can plant the stem
When to water jadelet pink?
Let the soil dry before you water it again. Not only just the top but below the surface too.
Which furtilizer is best for serculent
Normally they don't need a fertilizer but you can a general purpose fertilizer
will it keep growing after cutting it off
Yes
Maam your elephant bush stem is purplish is that the correct and healthy stem? I bought mine woody stem 😰 the seller told me its mature already and advantageous. Did I really bought healthy elephant bush? Kindly enlighten. Have a blessed day
There are many different varieties so it is possible that yours is slightly different than mine
Thanks to your reply. Been watching now your vlogs even im WFH bec. Im down with Colds and Cough😷🤧
@@Ok-dw4gz sorry to hear that, get well soon
How often do you water your elephant bush plant?
I water it once a week but it depends on the weather. Water it when the soil feels dry when you stick you finger in it
I live in New York, and the weather is pretty cold right now, so maybe I will wait every two weeks before watering. Thanks
What happens to the stem that you cut from? Do 2 new branches form?
yes
How often did you water it during the two months?
It depends on the weather but the whole idea is to keep the rooting medium slightly moist
@@EasyPeasyGardening I asked because I just trimmed mine for the first time since I got it. Also I see that yours has a different type of bark I guess you would say. Mine is like an actual tree bark it's light in color like a tan color. I'm wondering what kind mine is. It does have the red stems like yours but the older parts are like tree bark (The main stem area near the base).
Thank you for the comment.
I just think these are interesting plants!💚🌱
@@EasyPeasyGardening Is it best to start them out in gravel/Sand until they get established?
@@Joey-vw1id I have never done that but you can try

Where do you cut it
Anywhere, about 4 to 5 inches long
My plant is dying. The root is roton and the stem is drying fast.please suggest any possible care to make it alive.
Find a branch that is still good, cut it and plant in a separate planter with good drainage

You shouldn't giving her a water strait away you should give her a water spray after two week time till the root develope stronger.
I think once callous forms, it's ok to water it right away but otherwise wait
