@@ofkhod3638 There have been a few where a gospel phrase is played in a jazz context but I haven't seen one specifically focused on gospel. Unfortunately, most youtubers that say they are demonstrating gospel are actually doing contemporary christian and/or neosoul so I haven't found a go-to resource that discusses how to play the music.
Dear Adam, I love what you're presenting here and everything else I've seen. I'm a jazz singer who's been teaching herself piano maybe eight years now. I would love to learn everything you know about Ray Charles style of playing and accompanying himself. In my book you can't beat RAY. I did have to listen a few times to hear you count out the 12/8 so I could match up to the metronome which honestly I didn't do... I've gotta go much slower until I've got the the notes and the keys under my fingers fluidly enough. I don't know if you get these messages even though it was a long time ago that you presented this, but I would probably love to hear you do more popular music, the kind that was majorly influenced by jazz. I love the Sade stuff too! I can't thank you enough, Maggie
Love it. And there’s an infinite amount of subtlety that Ray Charles adds to those little slides. It’s taken me so long to even begin to approach it. He has a such a fine touch. You can hear a very similar kind of sensitivity in Dr John’s playing, to hear what I’m talking about.
"This is likely the best video lesson I've ever tried. I've watched it countless times and I finally feel comfortable enough with the content to incorporate it with my own playing. I love Ray's playing and Adam gives a great lesson. I have a few requests/suggestions for you which I think would make good lessons. To begin, could you possibly tackle any of "True" by James Booker?
Since you had to ask: Yeah, you are most welcome to “do” Ray all nite long ‘till we’re all old and gray! 😂 What would be nice is to take his language appart and apply it around Jazz Blues and some very standard standards.
Dude! This is what the world needs. More Ray Charles please!
More on Ray, more on old school gospel. I'd also like to learn more idiomatic stuff--what makes someone's playing sound gospel, r&b, post-bop, etc.
Did he ever make more videos of the type? I've looked but haven't found any

This is amazing! Love this style! I need to listen more Ray Charles…
These shapes and phrases are in a whole bunch of Ray’s songs, especially “Sweet Sixteen Bars” which is also in Bb.
Yes great lesson!! Would love to see more Ray lessons. Mid century Country, R&B and jazz share so much harmony and tunes too!!
This is beyond superb!!!
Thanks this is great! There's also a missing flat on the F7 after the accidental for those wondering.

Ray Charles was a jazz musician in his own right if u ask me. Check out his stuff with milt Jackson. He is one of my all time fav piano players
And thank you so much for this!! It’s great and I appreciate it.
Thanx, Maestro. 🌹🌹🌹
Thanks
Heaven! You’ve distilled some of my favourite stuff and 🤞 saved me hours of painful confusion 😂👌👌
Didnt realise there was a problem with the audio before you sorted it out. Was trying to work out the feel. The double version is sick!
l love it !! Thanks !!!!
PLEASE MORE RAY!!!
YESSAH!!!!
Damn that is good❤ new to your channel, sounds amazing at slow pace
SO GOOD
More Ray Charles deep dives, please.
This was great!
Nice lesson. A variety of styles is welcome.
Sounds like the piano link in Ketty Lesters Love Letters was Ray on piano on that session if not someone who studied Ray ?
i'm trying to work this out on the guitar
Are you're going to play the whole music?
I am going to add more on gospel.
Do you have more classes like this one?
Since you had to ask:

this is great ! I am a subscriber, will this become an open studio course ?
Could you do new orleans stuff?
I’m a member of your openjazzstudio.com website. What number is this in the practice lessons?
Also sounds richer and fatter in Bb.🤔
