2003 5.3 pcm in a 2007 6.0 followed procedure, took my pcm home connected it and truck started right up and stayed runnig. Thank u for this knowledge! great video. Simple and easy fix.

Took it out and plug into project truck 07 Silverado classic, security does its things, no start. Great video, maybe it just don’t work for 03+ pcm, blue green connector or something else. Going to get a tune if it doesn’t work for one more time.
Just tried this in a 03 Silverado cat eye VIN T. The BCM has 2 extra side plugs on each side of the BCM. It did not work for me. I tried it a couple times. Im thinking you gotta have that 3 plug BCM vehicle to do this. Good news is I just plugged in my old ECU and it fired back up with no issues....Im guessing the early trucks will let it slide but mine did not. Still a cool vid for people that can get it to work. @@OOLilDel check all your grounds and positive connections, also make sure your key on hot wire has power in the cranking position... I've seen that happen
@@mikeytuned8944 I just hooked up my aftermarket ecu & harness from Edelbrock(pro flo 4 system), & it cranked right up & ran fine. Hooked it up the exact way I did the factory ecu & harness. Just swapped it back over to the factory setup using same ground/hot locations & it want crank.
I've should done this before removing my ls engine from donor vehicle. You think if I plug the body control module to the harness when I do the ls swap, I won't have to delete the vats?

It should not effect your pcm, and you want to match pcm's/engines together unless you are planning on tuning the pcm... 4.8 with 4.8 5.3 with 5.3 6.0 with 6.0
Can I just disconnect the pcm in my 01 sierra to disable the vats? That's vats has left me stuck a few times I have to do that key relearn in the parking lot. Not fun on a summer day.

Used my stepfathers truck for this and his truck started right back up no issues. My truck is a 2003 Sierra 5.3 (swapped to a 1998 Silverado) and his is a 2007 Silverado HD 6.0. Probably should have, but I never even disconnected his battery during the procedure.
if you do this process on a ls swap the vehicle your swapping into won't have a body module. that being the case is this process necessary? if so would i just do this like the video says and obviously skip the unplug of the body module? since the car I'm putting it into won't have one?

Yes it will work... the 04 Silverado should have green/blue pcm connectors instead of red/blue... just pop the green plastic cover off with a flat head and it will plug in and work fine for the bypass
@@manuelsarria1377 yes leave the key on and try to start it. If it starts up and shuts off repeat 1 more 10 minute cycle and try to start it again. Sometimes you have to start it a couple times before it runs that's part of the pcm's relearn process

That's strange🤔 the only way I've ever had that happen is by clearing the continuous memory codes out the PCM. You want it to store the bcm codes so if your clearing it in any way it could effect it.

Well. He might have used lsdroid or hp tunners or even pcm hammer to delete the vats with a computer you will not need a laptop to run the car if thats what your asking

@@chevycaprice8956 it depends on your setup... if ur running a bigger cam or whatever then yes. If you have the pcm for your engine it will work fine. What it's doing is allowing you to run your ls engine without the pcm security system locking you out

Just got my harness all hooked upon my 86 squarebody 5.3 swap and went to start it and got as far as a dome light turning on😭😂 figured its most likely the security lock out but also saw your comment about the fuse block key on wire being different on the 03-07 and I might have to switch that around as well

From watching and reading comments you posted it sounds like since im a stock swap i shouldn't even need to send it out? I did however delete the evap system and o2s so i may still want to send it out. Im more or less trying to make sure it cranks at the moment

Some times i have had to do it 4 times in a row also there has been 1 time that I had to bump the starter every 10min cycle for it to recognize the key relearn
We have done this on multiple occasions with multiple ls swaps if your having problems doing so I have no problem helping but dont say it doesn't work if u dont understand the process lol

Have to keep power to the ecm somehow while swapping out

Yes just unplug the bcm and allow it to run long enough to trip the bcm code

U can plug it back up. The objective is to set a bcm contentious memory code in the PCM once it's set ur fine just don't delete the codes.

It does not effect the vehicles factory pcm at all just plug it back in and ur good

Yes you can change the throttle body out and leave the plug in hooked

U need the computer to set a stored permanent bcm code so that the vehicle immobilizer is bypassed and the chipped key is no longer required

I have no idea how I could be clearing the codes. Its not connected to any bcm. It's in a 1981 Malibu. Is there any way the ecm can do it on its own?

The key has to be on for 10 minutes in 3 different increments it's part of the relearn procedure
I've done it with 3 different pcms in the past month all 3 work in the swap vehicles with no issues

It works as long as u have the pcm I have unplugged and cleared check engine codes without issues same pcm on multiple swaps

After you removed the vats dose that do anything to your transmission.
May sounds crazy but I'm using the rebuild 700R4 transmission from my 86 suburban and thd Ls 5.3 from a 2001 Tahoe

Okay once you unplug BCM and it learns that security code to key. Can you replug the BCM again shortly?
Yes, you just need the pcm to set a continuous memory code for the bcm
