Kumiko exists to tell the story of our goddess, Asuka. SPOILERS NEXT: Hell, they couldnt even get to nationals after Asuka graduated (because plot lacked the actual main character and her ambitions to play for her father). Plus, they only made a movie instead of a whole season for that part. Moral of the story: Asuka best girl
Asuka is indeed best girl but let's not get carried away here. Think about what happens if they win the nationals in their 2nd year. It's too early for that. There wouldn't be any plot at all if the main characters just win competitions all the time. Heck, even in One Punch Man. The writers would make the side characters get beaten up before they make Saitama appear to make the whole story longer. Kumiko and the others may or may not win the Nationals when they're in their 3rd year. There's still a possibility they won't but if they do, Asuka has nothing to do with it. All in all, Asuka best girl lol
My top 10 character list hadn't changed for a long time -- but just 2 episodes with Asuka in them changed that in a hurry. Well, let's say she got my attention and by season 2 there was no doubt (sorry Utena ).
I've always wanted to sit down and have someone draw my ideal anime waifu... To think she was here in this anime. She checks all the boxes on my long dark hair waifu checklist. She just needs a small amount of color to the tips of her hair to be perfect. Hair always falls to one side which nearly aligns with my side ponytail preference and her personality with a bit of Hiyakasudere and I couldn't ask for more.... Chef's kiss.
