Also, people don't seem to understand how French people see the Spurs. For any French basketball fan, the Spurs are special, essentially because of Tony Parker but not just him. The Spurs have welcomed more French players than any other team in the last 30 years.
Without even stating the obvious that the Spurs are more than a team , they a family spirit unlike unlike any other

But I think he still has some growing to do too. Like even if this season worked out and everyone on the spurs team progressed, they wouldn’t win a playoff series.
Wemby needs to develop a go to move in the post and get more confident in the spurs system to where he sinplifies the game and doesnt have to work so hard for his buckets. AND with these last games, hes not so great handling blitzes and how about handling his frustration on the court.
hes great, but hes not playoff ready.

Lmao straight fantasy world. Spurs fans are so stupid and act like nothing changes in 20 years. They haven’t had some great skilled front office drafts and developed jack shit in years lmao. They’ve sucked for 8 years and the only big draft win they’ve had is being handed the globally known generational prospect that did everything that he’s shown so far before he got near San Antonio and they have nothin to do with. Just the nba yet again ran the script for the spurs to get the number one Pick when this type of player is in a draft and they have a lottery pick. Nowadays society has no patience. He is a rookie for the love of god. Continuity, synergy and adaptability. That was the key to Duncan, Parker and Ginobili's core that formed a dinasty.
You already have the star. Draft properly, build a coherent roster and show your guys the path to gold.
Get Sarr or Zacharie and luckily people sleep on Topic. Vassell and Sohan, perfect 1 to 5.

@@MostUnbiasedFan And he can be the goat only if he has the right players around him to form a lasting dynasty. Talking heads are still fawning over LBJ's decision to change teams and managers like diapers but he is no goat comparison if he doesn't stay and win with the same team and with the same coach. Spurs is the perfect franchise to do that.
The Spurs will never again repeat what they did wasting Robinson's first 10 years.
They intentionally tanked this season to get the lottery pick, and they don't even need a top tier player, they just need a Scottie Pippen or two, and preferably from Europe rather than AAU. Yes drafting Sarr and Topic would be absolutely stacking the deck for 10 or more contending years.
7 rings with Spurs is all Wemby needed to challenge Mike for the goat debate. Can he do it in the next 12 years till he's like 32? You can bet Pop won't be coaching then, but you can also bet it will be the very Pop thing to do to tee up his successor for a decade long dominance.

Hes a great off the dribble shooter but needs to improve his catch and shoot, needs to improve his handle and playmaking. If the spurs rush this learning process and make him have to produce and compete too early before his skills can catch up, it will hurt him. Rebuild over the next 2 years, he will just be scratching the surface of his prime. if you rush it, youll be the Atlanta Hawks for the next 10yrs

I get his reasoning but I'm still skeptical of the ideal pairing being someone with Giannis' skill set... Sure, Wemby likes to play more like a hybrid guard, but still seems like combining a good point guard and great wing with Wemby makes more sense, especially on defensive side. The crux of his reasoning is the effectiveness of the Giannis-Brooke Lopez duo, but Wemby is pretty different from Lopez, no?

They might not be able to draft that high but they still have a lot of picks, I think rebuilding through the draft is the best way to go, and they could potentially trade or swap picks on draft day. Like if they could cooper flag and then develop or trade for a pg down the line they’d be a solid team

All they really have to do is make some moves and become competitive but ESPN acting like Wemby can just walk out the door and win a championship is silly. The guy still has some learning to do. You can see his growth in many areas. Spurs haven't done bad by him so much as it's about discipline and improvement this season. The ultimate goal. He knew what he was getting into and has said Pop talked to him about it directly.
