(edit)My top fps are: FEAR series, trepang2, black mesa, metro series, bioshock series, atomic heart, stalker 1, homefront 1, rainbow six vegas, crossfire, soldner secret wars, cyberpunk 2077, HALO series, wolfenstein series, and crysis series
Thank you for including FEAR. My father used to play it when it first came out back when I was 8 years old - I used to watch him (not the best idea to let a kid watch you shoot the limbs out of bodies though) and he is the only reason I am still a gamer today
Just about the only horror games that succeeded in making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Jump scares and full-on gore don't do much for me but the atmosphere in those games, oh boy. With a pair of good headphones and played in a darkened room, they can make your skin crawl with just some subtle sounds and a shadow seen from the corner of your eyes here and there. Not that there wasn't any gore, there was but the subtle horror scenes were much more unnerving
I used to play with a friend in the middle of the night and he was a CS player so nailed the gun battles but as soon as it turned creepy he'd pause get out the chair and get me to play the horror segments. Something special about single player game that two can enjoy! (My equivalent of your story was as a small child playing quake with my dad, sat on his lap he'd do the keys/ movement and I did the shooting).
As an older Dad (pushing my mid 50's now lol) I've done this with all six of my kids and as they got older played a lot of co-op with them. From some of the Clancy games on PS2 to today where most of them are playing on PC with me from all over the country. The game didn't really matter it was the quality time giving them a look at some of the stuff I liked as both an adult and stuff I enjoyed as a kid myself. Me and My youngest spent an entire year playing RE 5&6 on co-op mode and had a blast doing it, as adults no they look back and remember and laugh about all the stuff we played and that is what has them always calling or texting me with new games to play with them, in my opinion videogames is one of the best ways to build a lasting bound, not the only way mind you just one of the best.
For me it all started with seeing Doom on shareware at a friends house in 1993. I couldn't believe what I was seeing in how you moved through the corridors and my god the violence at that time. A bit later I got my first PC with 3dfx GPU's Voodoo, then moved to sli. Unreal Half Life Sin Those were the games that hooked me.
Same. My friend back in primary school parents bought him a PS1 with Final Doom and we were all hooked. That was my introduction to FPS games. Doom Eternal is my favourite FPS game of all time
We must be the same age. I have the exact same story and hardware. We had two computers hooked up with Coax10-base2 using Novel 3comdrivers to play Doom multi-player. The SiN multi-player maps were awesome, most people over looked this game. I'm suprised Quake wasn't mentioned. GLQuake ate up a year of my life
His list does not have a single DOOM, QUAKE, HERETIC/HEXEN, BUILD ENGINE (DUKE 3D, BLOOD, SHADOW WARRIOR), or WOLFENSTEIN game on it, and it's top tier to you? Okay. To each their own. I can't take his list seriously. This guy comes off like he played on consoles until after 2004 and didn't play any classic FPS games on PC whatsoever between 1991 - 2004. He is far from an "OG" to me.
@ that’s what’s the point of the video, HIS favorite list, not yours. I get your point, he could have added games like DOOM, Quake and so on but if that’s not your go to game in that time, I’m okay with that 100%.
@@magicastra Everybody is entitled to their opinion, like I said before, to each their own, but at the same time, if you want put your opinion on the internet, then people will respond with their opinions as well, which may contradict your opinion, and will critique your opinion as well. So, in my opinion, besides Unreal Tournament 2004, everything on this list is meh.
@@BasedDoomSlayer”beside UT 2004 everything else is meh”? That’s the silliest hot take I’ve heard in a while. Half Life, Goldeneye, Battlefield, COD:MW are meh? Agree that Doom, Wolfenstein, and others could be in this list, but maybe they are not as enjoyable as they are in importance for kicking off the evolution of FPS gaming. Halo though, that is a weird blind spot. But still, to each their own. 😎
@@gogopossum When you have been playing fast-paced FPS games since the dawn of the FPS genre, then yes, a lot of modern day military shooters, like COD and Battlefield, are slow and boring compared FPS games of the 90s and early 2000s, like Unreal Tournament (1999, 2003, 2004) and Quake (1, 2, 3 Arena). Half-Life is literally just a slower version of Quake (literally runs on a modified Quake engine), and Goldeneye was a poor man's QUAKE 2, which came out the same year in 1997, and made Goldeneye obsolete from the jump. Don't even get me started on Halo, and how slow and overrated that was compared to 90s and early 2000's FPS games lol. We agree to disagree. Peace.
The absolute spectacle of BLACK at the time was so good that you almost didn't care about how bad the controls were, and that's saying a lot. BF2 was the first game I got a videocard for, and FEAR was the first time I upgraded it lol. God seeing BF2 brings me back to high school.
Solid review/video!!! Great choices For me, COD4 changed my life. I played it semi pro, so many years of fun on that game. One of the best game engines ever think it was based on Quake 3 engine. Unreal Tournament 2003 is legendary, pretty much my childhood! First game I ever bought for myself a young teenager, I was scared going to the cashier thinking I'd get busted for being underage... I remember trying to act like an adult just to not raise suspicion loool
I loved frontlines 2. It has this massive multiplayer with tanks and helicopters, and the frontline mechanism created the stratigic ideas of where enemies are coming from, created also the option of sneaking behind enemy lines and suprising enemies.
hahaha Im amazed you never got killed in the ghost recon video !!! , Yoh usually if you even look at a terrorist and you in the open you get clipped !!!🤣. So glad you included this game !! . You really do get the feeling of being an SF soldier !!! , you even get nervous because you never know exactly where the tangos are !!!. I'm also keen to play the others on the list aswel !! , great video !!
Thank you for recommending Medal of Honor. I grew up with that game. When we Hit our internet limit for the month i would replay the single player over and over again.

I like rainbow 6 siege. Unreal tournament took me back to my mid 20s though. Left for dead 2 was super special as well. Great list man!
The nostalgia just keeps building and building with each take, The fact you mention ODD JOB yelling matches from the golden EYE days hahahahha. And then in my mind instantly thinking about Perfect Dark and poof its the next game. Great List, hit all the points about what made each game so impactful. It's easy for people to pull open a list of games from the past look at some reviews or even play them. It was entirely different to be growing up as the industry rapidly expanded, and these epic titles continually setting higher and higher standards. Ill tip my hat to Counter Strike, Halo ce. They were the first steps away from LAN multiplayer for myself were I actually enjoyed the experience.
i asked alot of my friends if they remember strike at karkand, and how it was the only popping map back then, no one remembers, finally someone mentioned that map
@@icesh0t905 Hi, I've played BF2 and UT 2004 for years almost every day, and didn't play any other fps online for more than 50h. I think that I had about half of my time in BF on Karkand, favourite map.
Escape from Tarkov number 1 for me. Kudos for having listed Red Orchestra, this is a choice of connoisseurs :) The first one was amazing back then, like 20 years ago and the second one was really good as well. The tank battles and combined arms maps especially were epic.
Great video! Thank you. It was pretty divisive at the time, but I played Project IGI so much. Deus Ex was a great game. Return to Castle Wolfenstein another.
Still playing my all time favorite FPS MOH; Frontline on the Odin 2 Pro. That game completely blew me away the first time I played it, it was such a massive leap forward over the original MOH.
Nice list , in my 30 years of exp i would honorably include Heretic , being the first multiplayer i played in my life . Huge fun and turning ur enemy into a chicken was superb . Cod 4 , Fear and Americas army Proving Grounds most favourite games of all time . Fear was my first multiplayer clan , load of fun and the game was superb for 1v1 . AAPG holds a special place in my heart . Prolly the best game for me .
@@lamson1990 It's this persons list of favorite FPS games. It's not a "best games in the genre" list. Maybe they don't like Doom or Soldier of Fortune etc. or just like these other games more in the end. How does that invalidate the video, when it's an opinion video?
While everyone’s list will obviously differ and of course it’s impossible to not be biased with nostalgia playing a big part of what the picks will be, I still want to mention Squad. Throughout this video you described the teamwork factor of some games and the tactical nature of others as a large part of your picking them. Squad is all of this in a game. I grew up playing Battlefield 1942 and Desert Combat mod hoping that one day a game would perfect the team work and hardcore aspects that were present, but totally ignored in these games. You mentioned your love for BF2 and Squad is literally the game inspired by Project Reality. The immersive, platoon sized coordination, superb sound design and large, densely populated maps are fantastic. I had given up gaming entirely for about 10years, then I saw a RUclips recommendation for a video of Squad and endeavoured to get a PC to play the game. It’s been 5 years and I still come back to it almost daily. They’ve just announced the game will be moving to UE5 as well so it will be even better soon. To summarise: Liked BF2? Then get Squad.
I would add Time Shift (2007) to this list. The game has cool slow motion and time stop mechanic, that may remind you of FEAR. Also it had a good atmosphere and graphics looked cool for its time.
finally insurgency sandstorm is getting the love it deserves what you said about coming back to it no matter how many new games come out is absolutely true
As a 34 year old gamer that has been gaming since I have memory… sir, you have excellent tastes. Just add Halo and Call of Duty United Offensive and the list is pretty similar to mine.
I'm a very picky gamer and I agree fully with this list , However I would have added Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Vietnam DLC as one of the best Game ever ... doing destruction and leveling the map flat and having to do everything in it , amazing
I always saw the Halo series as a solid series for what it is, but that's it. To me, it just comes off like a toned down, casualized, slower-paced version of QUAKE, Unreal, Tribes, or other classic 90s and early 2000s game series. It's fine, but there are definitely better FPS game series out there.
Someone needs to get this Global Game Explorer guy some DOOM and QUAKE games pronto, as well as a copy of Return To Castle Wolfenstein. My top 10 games of all time list would be this: 1. DOOM ETERNAL 2. DOOM (2016) 3. QUAKE CHAMPIONS 4. QUAKE 3 ARENA 5. QUAKE 2 6. QUAKE 2 64 7. QUAKE 1 8. DOOM 64 9. DOOM 2 10. DOOM 1
And that's what matters in a game. The gameplay. Everything else is just a bonus. However, if the gameplay is garbage, then the game is garbage, regardless of pretty graphics, music, or any other aspect that isn't the gameplay itself.
RO-ost or RO2 those were my favorites, when i moved from COD1or2 over to RO it was a breath of fresh air, also like learning something you cannot unlearn, still affecting my choice of games to this day 🙏👌, thx for the Vid ✊️
I often have gaming ptsd. I will be at work and my mind wander to a map I was traversing 20 - 30 odd yrs ago. Battlefield 2 top of list and BF 2142 right behind. Loved everything about 2142, needs to be revisited.
Kingpin Life of Crime was a great multiplayer game especially bagman mode pinching money from the safes ... fond memories of being in clans when i was younger👊
F.E.A.R is an awesome FPS. I used to play in the dark with 5.1 surround. Holey shit you’d find yourself looking behind you… One game I’m supprised you didn’t mention is CRYSIS. What a fantastic game. If you had the GPU to handle max settings the graphics were way ahead of their time.
Are you me? Ive played and loved every one of these games. Never seen a gaming list where I agreed with every single one. One game that should have been on this list is Soldier of Fortune 2. Dismemberment was amazing and multiplayer was a lot of fun and still played to this day.
Glad we share the same thought that bullet sponge enemy in Black actually make it more satisfying to shoot 'em, complementary to its punchy weapon sound and effects. Also here's my 5 favorite FPS: 1. Half Life/Black Mesa 2. Black 3. F.E.A.R 4. Bioshock 2 5. Left 4 Dead
That’s a good list alright. All of my top shooters are in there. I’d only add battlefield 2142. It was a short time period when that game was filling lobbies but it was something special.
@ the campaign isnt suuper long. I think its like a dozen missons? Not too much of a story lol. Just action packed for the most part. Id get it on a sale 👍🏽
Started playing cod (multiplayer I played since big red one) well after cod 4 came out and bo1 was the release of that year… that being said cod 4 is still one of my fav fps games of all time because it’s just so quintessential to the genre.
@photonmaniac QUAKE 1, 2, and 3 are still in my top 10 best games of all time. It's amazing that they were the first of their kind, and have remained some of the best games ever made to this very day. Id Software are some serious geniuses. I said it once, I will say it again, John Carmack was right when he said that a story in a game really doesn't matter, because he knew that it was all about how the game plays, which is why QUAKE 1, 2, and 3 remain some of the best games ever made due to their amazing timeless, speed, pace, feel, gameplay, gunplay, mechanics, and more. Gameplay is what makes a game good. Everything else is just a cherry on top of the cake. If the gameplay sucks, then the game sucks, no matter how good everything else about the game is. Video games are not movies or graphic novels, they are GAMES, and if the game isn't fun to play, then it sucks. Period.
Thats biutiful ❤️, but im really woundring if you can add more détails, like if its compagne coop or if it is Lan playbal or not, and also if the game is free or not. Thank you ❤
A mostly good list, But I'd definitely have Halo1, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Doom1&2, BioShock 1&2, And the most underrated shooter of all time, Oddworld Strangers Wrath.
Putting The Hidden Source here is based af, I remember that game fondly, the maps, the lore, the characters. It was a simple 1vsall game with an invisible guy trying to kill the army guys, but the theme was so strong i couldn't help but love it. And how could I ever forget the voicelines? "He is one ugly motherf*cker" was so iconic. Red Orchestra 2 too, last good Tripwire war videogame before they fell from grace.
Man i remember playing F.E.A.R. with my geforce 6600gt , that was actually first game when i played i felt different its was revolutionary good(story , gameplay A.I, sound , ground breaking graphic) nothing could prepare me for shock i had faced. Still remember it was on 3 or 4 cd-s and i gave them to my school buddys i was 7th grade , easily top 5 game i have ever played
@@mattonthemoon225 yeah that era started with 2 3 dvd, before it was cd-s and i cant remember if fear was 1 dvd but if you say so okay, i stand corrected
Legit my favourite game of all time, I would have died inside if he added Goldeneye and not PD. I am pretty much a PC gamer through and through (designing gaming PC's actually my literal job) but PD has never been toppled for me. Never been so hyped for a game in my life and yet it overdelivered. Imagine saying that about a game these days 😂
Man I really really miss playing hardcore search and destroy on pc with my clan in the original Modern Warfare…. damn 😢😢😢 But bro how could you not include Timesplitters 2!!!!!!! Sad I missed The Hidden. You know it is wild because Day of Defeat was my intro to PC FPS online gaming. It actually is the cause for me building my first pc.
For eastern europeans like myself STALKER,Metro,Criostasys,Nosferatu:Wrath of Malachi. There are also Return to castle Wolfenstein,Far cry 1,Condemned:criminal origins or Bloodshot. For americans Halo is king. Now companies are not making tactical shooters like Rainbow six,Ghost recon:advanced warfighter,Brothers in arms,SWAT 4,STar wars:republic commando anymore.I like some game from the list that myself played like Black but i like single player games and this list has many multiplayer games, the only multiplayer FPS that i played was Call of duty 2.Now many FPS and action games have RPG elements, the best FPS like this is Borderlands (2).
I know right? Return to Castle Wolfenstein is actually my #11 favorite game of all time (My top 10 is filled with all the DOOM and QUAKE games). Furthermore, his list does not have a single DOOM, QUAKE, HERETIC/HEXEN, BUILD ENGINE (DUKE 3D, BLOOD, SHADOW WARRIOR), or WOLFENSTEIN game on it. So, I can't take his list seriously. This guy comes off like he played on consoles until after 2004 and didn't play any classic FPS games on PC whatsoever between 1991 - 2004.
Yeah, Return To Castle Wolfenstein is definitely in my top 20 games of all time, and is easily the best Wolfenstein game to this very day. That id Tech 3 engine (Quake III Arena engine), is just god-like. QUAKE 1 8. DOOM 64 9. DOOM 2 10. DOOM 1

@@mattonthemoon225 All legendary games for sure, with all of them running on glorious id Tech Engines, which are the best engines in the business in my opinion. Nothing feels or looks like them. id Tech engines just feel amazing, look amazing, super fast, buttery smooth, and just so dang perfect. Valve seems to agree with me because Half-Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, and dozen of their other games are running on a modified Quake engine, which means that without Quake, the id Tech 2 engine (Quake Engine), and id Software (legendary developer and creator of the FPS genre), Valve would not be where they are today, and may have never succeeded or existed lol. id Software is one of those rare developers that has never put out a bad game. As far as your list goes, the DOOM games (1, 2, 64, 2016, and Eternal) and the QUAKE games (1, 2, 2(64), 3, and Champions) just have it on total lockdown for me, and they are my top 10 of all time, which I could play for the rest of time, and never get tired of it. So much dang fun, so dang addicting, and it never gets old, whether it's single player mode or multiplayer mode. As for my #11, that goes to Return To Castle Wolfenstein because it's just Quake 3 Arena, but with a Wolfenstein WW2 cover, setting, weapons, enemies, etc., which is not as interesting to me as Quake 3 Arena, but still, RTCW is an amazing game though, best Wolfenstein game ever, and best WW2 FPS game ever in my book. #12 and #13 go to Heretic and Hexen 1, which are just DOOM 1 and 2, but with a magical medieval dark fantasy theme cover, which is not as interesting to me as DOOM 1 and 2, but still amazing games. The #14 spot goes Hexen 2, which is just Quake, but with a magical medieval dark fantasy theme cover, which is not as interesting to me as Quake, but still it is an amazing game. My #15, #16, and #17 spots go to the holy trinity on the Build engine: #15. Blood #16. Duke Nukem 3D #17. Shadow Warrior My 18th, 19th, and 20th spots go to the best Unreal games: #18. Unreal Tournament 2004 #19. Unreal Tournament (1999) #20. Unreal (Incase you are wondering, yes #21 and #22 are Unreal Tournament III and Unreal Tournament 2003)
@@BasedDoomSlayer I totally agree. Don't forget early 2000 Monolith games: NOLF, Alien Vs Predator 2 and FEAR are also amazing games with a great engine. I see you don't put Doom 3 (and Quake 4) on the list, didn't you like it? I think Doom 3 was great too (it's still looking good with today's graphics standards!) but I didn't like Quake 4.
@@mattonthemoon225 Cool. I never played The Operative: NOLF, but I see that it is very well rated with a 91/100 on Metacritic. So, it seems like an amazing game, but from what I understand, it contains stealth and sneaking elements/gameplay, which slows down the game, and I'm not a fan of that. I like fast-paced, quick movement, high-octane, action-packed boomer shooters, where I just move fast, blow through enemies, and kick ass from start to finish, which explains my top 22 best games of all time list, as you can see for yourself lol. AVP 2 and FEAR are great games, but they are more horror themed, slower-paced, tactical, and story driven games akin to Half-Life, which again is not really my thing. DOOM 3 and QUAKE 4 are absolutely gorgeous technological masterpieces that really show off what the amazing id Tech 4 Engine can do (and another good game called Prey (2006) also ran on the id Tech 4 Engine and showed off what it could do), and those games definitely set the bar in the industry with innovative technologies, techniques, standards, and many other things that were never seen before, that blew everyone away at the time, which all developers and future games in the industry would be inspired by (Which is typical id Software fashion that continues to this very day). Without DOOM 3 and QUAKE 4, a lot of future games, or even future developers, would have either never existed, or would have turned out very differently (Just typical id Software leading the way for the rest of the industry, as usual, nothing new there, because they are still doing that up until this very day. Can't wait for DOOM: THE DARK AGES, which is already looking like the best thing ever since sliced bread). Both DOOM 3 and QUAKE 4 are great games for sure and technological marvels, but again, DOOM 3 is more of a slower-paced survival horror shooter themed game, which again, I'm not a big fan of slower games (and even though slower-paced horror games are not my thing, if i had to pick a favorite/best horror game of all time, it would be DOOM 3 for sure, because to this day, I've never seen another game do a survival horror shooter so dang well as this game. DOOM 3 is a survival horror shooter masterpiece, with amazing visuals, sound design, game design, technologies, set pieces, etc., that still look, feel, and sound amazing today. To this day, there is still nothing else like DOOM 3). So, DOOM 3 single-player mode can be pretty slow, but otherwise, its fantastic. The DOOM 3 multi-player mode is pretty good too. It's not as face-paced or exciting as the multi-player in all the other DOOM games, but still, the multiplayer mode is pretty good. As for QUAKE 4, it's a similar case to DOOM 3, and just like DOOM 3, Quake 4 is a great game, with gorgeous visuals, awesome set pieces, great sound design, great technology, and just like DOOM 3, there is no other game like it to this very day. While QUAKE 4 is a more action packed, faster-paced, and higher-octane kind of game compared to DOOM 3, which is more of my thing (though it has horror elements as well), you also move pretty slow for about the first half of the game, and it's not until about half way into the game, where you get stroggified, that it turns into a faster game, and even then, it still isn't that fast compared to QUAKE 1, QUAKE 2, QUAKE 3, and QUAKE CHAMPIONS. So, just like DOOM 3, QUAKE 4 single-player mode can be pretty slow, but otherwise, it's fantastic. Just like DOOM 3, The QUAKE 4 multi-player mode is pretty good. It's not as face-paced or exciting as the multi-player in the other QUAKE games, but still, the multiplayer mode is pretty good. So, don't get it wrong, I like all these games, and all of these are great games, but they are just not in my top 22 list of games because they don't cater to my needs as much as the other games on my list do. So, these games are just further down my list below those top 22 games that I listed. That's all.
I think it’s worth adding that RO2 has a great expansion called Rising Storm, which gives you US vs Japan in Pacific (jungle) theater with assymetrical (J has weaker base weapons but got booby traps, mortars, banzai charge w katanas) gameplay!
My list would have to include: Half-Life Half-Life 2 Halo Reach Doom Eternal Wolfenstein The New Order Titanfall 2 Resistance 3 Killzone 2 Left 4 Dead Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Call of Duty: Black Ops Crysis Far Cry 3 Borderlands 2
Call of War World at War. Good history followed the game as well as many of the early COD games. Seelow Heights was a favorite map although there were many others too. Shout out for Battlefield 2142 also

I wouldn't even mention games like COD 2 without COD WW2 if I'm talking about an all time great FPS campaign. The original Left 4 Dead is a great choice & also Halo2. Ridick Escape from Butcher Bay may not be a war game but is a very unique first person View/shooter game that nobody has ever replaced with today's games

Peace.
Thank you for bringing up some good memories. Goldeneye 007, BF1942, HL, Black...
F.E.A.R. Combat was really incredible. My favourite from this video.
Right now I'm replaying the "Metro" trilogy and thinking one of them would be a snug fit for number 21.
Or maybe S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Also played Metro "Last Light" recently. Now "Exodus" which is another big step in gameplay mechanics compared to the trilogy.
Black and Battlefield 3 and cod 4
Are icons that i will never forget
Never agreed with someone’s list as more as this one, this games really hit home for me, great video man
The absolute spectacle of BLACK at the time was so good that you almost didn't care about how bad the controls were, and that's saying a lot. BF2 was the first game I got a videocard for, and FEAR was the first time I upgraded it lol. God seeing BF2 brings me back to high school.
Love your selection, man.
Such a nice journey listening and watching through all these gems
Great video. The way you kept emphasizing the “4” in Left 4 Dead was giving me aneurysms tho lmao
Great vídeo, quite nostalgic to me! ✌🏻🤓🎮
This list is incredible and I couldn't agree more. Great job.
I'd add TFC classic and Counter-Strike as honorable mentions for me.
Huge respect dude, what an awesome list.
Great video soo much nostalgia and great memories!
Solid review/video!!! Great choices
For me, COD4 changed my life.
Crysis series deserves a mention, imho.
Farcry Primal with Permadeath is a unique experience as well.
never got into primal. something held me back. idk.

I'm also keen to play the others on the list aswel !! , great video !!
damn near perfect list, always happy to see a fellow ready or not enjoyer as well
Thank you for recommending Medal of Honor.
Day of Defeat! Almost forgot about that one, loved it so much
first one : Battlefield , Got an instant like, one of my first online FPS, Strike at karkand was the place :DD
i asked alot of my friends if they remember strike at karkand, and how it was the only popping map back then, no one remembers, finally someone mentioned that map
@@icesh0t905 Hi, I've played BF2 and UT 2004 for years almost every day, and didn't play any other fps online for more than 50h. I think that I had about half of my time in BF on Karkand, favourite map.
Karkand best map ever
List is stacked with great FPS games, some a little bit underrated. Great list.
can someone please tell me how to play black on iphone😭😭
I'm so glad most games from your list are still alive. Including Battlefield 2!
Bf bad company 2 is the best !
I don't know ow why "Warface " doesn't get the love it deserves. It's HUGE in Russia. They fill stadiums for the open cup tournaments
So much nostalgia in this video!

An honest and solid list indeed.
I would add Time Shift (2007) to this list. The game has cool slow motion and time stop mechanic, that may remind you of FEAR. Also it had a good atmosphere and graphics looked cool for its time.
And Singularity. Underrated also.
@ Yep, totally agree
Thank you for recognising Perfect Dark.
To this day, Perfect Dark is my favourite ever game. Utterly timeless.
Thanks for a great video, brings back lotsa memories. ;-)

This was a very good list imo!
Glad you enjoyed it
As a 34 year old gamer that has been gaming since I have memory… sir, you have excellent tastes. Just add Halo and Call of Duty United Offensive and the list is pretty similar to mine.
Its Insurgency 2014 for me, that game was something else.
none by these would exist if it wasn’t for Doom. The real GOAT of FPS
I'm a very picky gamer and I agree fully with this list , However I would have added Battlefield Bad Company 2 - Vietnam DLC as one of the best Game ever ... doing destruction and leveling the map flat and having to do everything in it , amazing
Halo CE was truly a memorable experience.

I always saw the Halo series as a solid series for what it is, but that's it. It's fine, but there are definitely better FPS game series out there.
BF2.. such a great time. The music when loading in to Strike at Karkand.. oh boy
Half-Life 1 Multiplayer was great. QuakeWorld (Quake 1) and Quake 3 / Live were also amazing...

2. DOOM (2016)
3. QUAKE CHAMPIONS
4. QUAKE 3 ARENA
5. QUAKE 2
6. QUAKE 2 64

8. DOOM 64
9. DOOM 2
10. DOOM 1

I fully agree with your list, BF 1942 was groundbreaking. It led the way.
Nice some real solid classics in this. The graphics may not stand the test of time but the gunplay does.
And that's what matters in a game. The gameplay. Everything else is just a bonus. However, if the gameplay is garbage, then the game is garbage, regardless of pretty graphics, music, or any other aspect that isn't the gameplay itself.

Bf 2 is my DNA for sure!! What a king of fps
F.E.A.R is an awesome FPS. I used to play in the dark with 5.1 surround. Holey shit you’d find yourself looking behind you…
One game I’m supprised you didn’t mention is CRYSIS. What a fantastic game. If you had the GPU to handle max settings the graphics were way ahead of their time.

Goldeneye, R6:Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon, Desert Combat, R6:Raven Shield, MW2, BF:P4F, Warface. That`s my journey as far MP FPS.
Also here's my 5 favorite FPS:
1. Half Life/Black Mesa
2. Black
3. F.E.A.R
4. Bioshock 2
5. Left 4 Dead
That’s a good list alright. All of my top shooters are in there. I’d only add battlefield 2142. It was a short time period when that game was filling lobbies but it was something special.
If you like F.E.A.R you should try Trepang 2, the REAL spiritual successor we never got until last year.
I liked the demo but was skeptical of how they would flesh it out into a full game, how long is the campaign and is the story any good?

A lot of solid games here. I would have added a few more, like Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield.
Delta force land warrior. Far from perfect but somehow it gripped me.

id Tech engines just feel amazing, look amazing, super fast, buttery smooth, and just so dang perfect.
My #15, #16, and #17 spots go to the holy trinity on the Build engine:
#15. Blood
#16. Duke Nukem 3D
#17. Shadow Warrior
My 18th, 19th, and 20th spots go to the best Unreal games:
#18. Unreal Tournament 2004

That's all.
A quake, wolfenstein, crysis, doom and nolf is missing here.
I would also put jedi outcast, stalker and maybe early days pubg on the list.
