This looks so cool, a handheld that takes a great, well rounded approach to providing a gaming experience that looks like a lot of fun. A whole lot of fun, but my experience with the handheld market has largely been fraught with disappointment due to those little things like that R stick being in the way of gameplay, and simply being too small to really maintain optimal performance as a player. I end up getting frustrated about the limitations of not having a more usable interface, like a separate standard sized controller. Without the R analog in the way, this would be an amazing compact handheld to carry around and maybe even set up to use as a phone (maybe), but it wouldn't be an authentic modern gaming experience without both analog sticks. If they created a model with an offset contol scenario and dropped the R analog to a lower, more agreeable location, then manufacture a collapsible grip for the unit, I just might need to have it. As it stands, sadly, I know the magic would wear off once I play the games and experience those same problems I have with so many portable gaming devices. Great video, though.
I kind of disagree with what you're saying of the second analog interfering because typically speaking the games that require a second analog stick usually don't require too many of the action buns that are right next to the analog stick you're referring to are usually requires the trigger Brian because it's for games of that nature
I want a phone like this because I want to only have to carry one device around for smartphone purposes and gaming purposes. To me, that's the value of a device like this. However, I would prefer if some company created on that looked more like a phone. In other words, I don't think it needs to be as large as this.
You can buy a switch lite, an SD card a wireless game controller on Amazon and a good condition galaxy s8 on swappa, not the best deal, but it's a nice idea.
A Vita can run the GBA version of Mario 3 great as well. Try a much harder game to run like Top Gear Rally. If you're using mGBA in RetroArch, make sure that 'threaded video' is disabled. That would tell me a lot about what this phone is capable of.

Love your content and I totally understand where your coming from with stardew valley. It is one game I have purchased over and over again. It makes me happy every time I hear the soundtrack 👍
400 dollars i can get a switch and a few games, if used even 10 of them maybe, i can get a ps4 slim with a bunch of games, can get a better phone with a controller grip, this price tag just killed it
for a device with premium pricing the button quality looks super cheap .I bought the rg350 for £74 that came with a 64gb memory card and the buttons feel great has l2 and r2 buttons along with great button quality in general. even better than the gpd which by comparison feel super cheap and again being in the higher price range buttons should have better quality.plus the rg350 is a good weight with great out of the box emulation with good battery life and none of the hinge problems of the gpd due to no screen shutter definitely the best go to emulation device for the price it's going for.
I bought an oled Vita that does everything this device does except for Android gaming for $100, and would choose Vita games over Android anyway. The other factor is reliability, in my experience Chinese devices like this die very quickly and the sellers try to charge you extortionate postage prices for a replacement.
I had already tested one of their old phone the "Much Snail w1", I did not particularly like the feeling of analog sticks (which was similar to that of a PSP). The finish was exemplary and the phone quite thin and compact. But personally I keep an excellent experience with the JXD S5800 which was really my best experience with a phone for gaming. So certainly the phone was not the most manageable and even less convenient for a simple phone call but me who had long train ride, the phone responded perfectly to my expectations.
All I see in the comments is people complaining about the price of the "console" no one seems to understand this is a phone... With the added benefits of a console yeah try buying a phone with these specs and a mobile console and see how much it costs, and you have to carry both this is both in 1
a symmetrical is the best cause u dont use 2 sticks verry often together. and the switch was not the first console to do that. it started with the xbox.
The action buttons south is boobs i think it's the most usable button of the 4. And maybe they put some weight on it inside because heavy means premium.

Yeah, that right analog rubbed me the wrong the first time I laid eyes on it. It's not a bad placement for something like the Xbox controller, where everything is big and there's enough space, but in such a small device your finger will touch it while trying to press some buttons. The only poor design choice, it seems, but a really bad one, for me. Something I notice too is that it doesn't have shoulder triggers, which's also a bummer for me.
Hey Izzy, new sub here. But I love your videos and what you're doing already. Any ETA on the full review of this? Any chance you could do emulation comparisons between this and say the GPD XD plus and the GPD win 2? That would be awesome. Interesting device, but since I already use a note 8 for my phone, I would get attachable controllers for it. But for those who don't have a phone, this is good to get as both your phone and console for the best use of the price on it.
Comparison with you favourite handheld please Izzy. I'd love to see how this holds up against GTA San Andreas and the redream emulator.
The other factor is reliability, in my experience Chinese devices like this die very quickly and the sellers try to charge you extortionate postage prices for a replacement.
i just use an ipega 9087 with my oneplus. my phone is always with me and snapdragon 845 runs most of the emulators i need.
yea i got s9 with a bad ass bluetooth one izzy reviewd but your carring 2 things in your pocket
@@burtmount4308 I definitely see what you mean. But I probably couldn't use this thing as phone anyways so then I'd be carrying around 2 phones.
Nice SAK representation. What model is it? Huntsman?
I had already tested one of their old phone the "Much Snail w1", I did not particularly like the feeling of analog sticks (which was similar to that of a PSP). The finish was exemplary and the phone quite thin and compact.
But personally I keep an excellent experience with the JXD S5800 which was really my best experience with a phone for gaming. So certainly the phone was not the most manageable and even less convenient for a simple phone call but me who had long train ride, the phone responded perfectly to my expectations.
They really screwed up with the shoulder buttons.
I want one myself, quite pricey!
All I see in the comments is people complaining about the price of the "console" no one seems to understand this is a phone... With the added benefits of a console yeah try buying a phone with these specs and a mobile console and see how much it costs, and you have to carry both this is both in 1
How much "I'm not a fan" am in gona hear in this video 😂
a symmetrical is the best cause u dont use 2 sticks verry often together. and the switch was not the first console to do that. it started with the xbox.
Switch handheld and 400$ price tag killed this project TBH
Price??
Not R2 and L2 ? What they where thinking? And Analaog don't click what the point...
I might buy this today
2:23 “let’s peel this off”
*doesn’t peel it off!
Olá Izzy, será que dava para testar emulação ps2 com o Emulador DamonPS2? Agradecia. Obrigado pela review.
Aparentemente ele roda alguns jogos outros não.
Little curious if this will top your GPD XD experience, great video 👍
Is this fit in the pocket? It seems a little large.
Dope Wars! So that's the name of the game I used to play thanks a lot! 😁😁
I love that game!
You can get it on Android too :)
@@nikonfan2407 what?! I will try that for sure thanks
@@jojobasco5877 Indeed the rumours are true!
The version I play is the closest to the original, simply called "dope wars classic"
Hey Izzy, new sub here. But I love your videos and what you're doing already.
Any ETA on the full review of this? Any chance you could do emulation comparisons between this and say the GPD XD plus and the GPD win 2? That would be awesome.
Based on your review I'll see if I pick this up, the win 2 was tempting but that price is just too steep. This device isn't cheap but it's a bit easier to swallow.
Thanks buddy keep up the great work.
nice. I like the design of it though a comment says it's pretty expensive imo for what is mainly a portable emulation device
Watching from new york❤️
Hi gringo! I'm going to New York because I don't like where I live
Hits!
is it waterproof/resistant? is there an ip rating on it?
400$ for 60hz low res lcd with weak sd 710 cpu or 500$ for 120hz oled with the sd 855+ , dual stereo speakers and a lot of amazing accessories?
Good point...
Rog 2 phone fo sho
