0:10 screw the emulation, what's that food you ordered? Looks delicious! ...I'm just kidding. Or am I? Now I'm hungry. I love emulators. I was able to play through Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for a third time on my old Galaxy S3 thanks to emulation. Can't wait till us PC gamers can play Playstation 4 exclusives on an emulator... circa 2053 lol. Okay I can't stand it. What is that foods you got and where did you get it? I'm so hungry.
Thanks for making this video! I've heard you talk about the GPD XD a lot, but $300+ was a lot to drop on a device that's less capable then my phone other then the physical buttons. For people using a higher end phone that was released within the last 2-3 years, this is a far better option!
Welcome to the ipega bluetooth clamp controller family! I have been using bluetooth controllers for android for a long time now. I personally own an ipega 9023 and I absolutely love it. The 9023 is more like a Wii u pro controller with media buttons made into a clamp with a lock system. Ipega makes a bluetooth clamp controller that works with iOS, android, and PC and is also a nicer option for single player on the nintendo switch. I highly recommend ipega products they are very budget friendly and reasonable quality for the price point. If you dont need the clamp feature 8bitdo also makes great multi system controllers with slightly better build quality if you want a multisystem bluetooth controller.
Oh perfect, you're the person I could use advice from. How's the input lag on this Ipega controller? I have a MOGA Hero and it's OK for the most part. But on some games that demand some extra precision, it's kinda frustrating. Also, will this controller force me to resort to my phone's speakers for audio? I'm used to headphones and I really would like to stay that way. Is there any other options for me if I'd like to use this AND headphones?
@@darkflamesquirrel So there are some controller offerings that clamp vertically instead of horizontally if that make sense. So basically if you need to charge your phone or use wired headphones I would say get a controller that clamps the vertical axis so from the top and bottom. The disadvantage to clamping top and bottom is the balance becomes awkward, however it does free up the ports on a phone. The horizontal/ side clamps work well for balance (more like a PSP or vita) but they tend to cover most devices ports. Now if you want to you can buy 90degree adapters for your headphone and power port to compensate. It's not recommended because it puts a little stress on the phone, but it isn't terrible. I am tempted to make a rubber "foot" for my phone so I can clamp it into place with the charge cable going up or down at a right angle from the side. For vertical clamp style I recommend an xbox 1 bluetooth controller with the clamp attachment, a mocute controller (I have used one of these, they are light, but work well), or a gamesir g4 (my friend has one they feel super premium). Ipega also makes vertical clamp controllers but I havent tried them. The 9099 looks awesome For horrizontal I would stick with an ipega offering. Get the size and ergonomics that suit your needs. I like the 9023, 9055, 9083.
I love how your channel gives spotlight on mobile/handheld emulation. But I noticed you fail to acknowledge Android emulation on actual phones with bluetooth controllers until now! This setup has been around for a long time now. Even though I feel that you are just discovering this for the first time, I'm happy for you. But yeah, input lag sucks. That is one downside of this setup. Perfectly fine for most games but for oldschool platforming, fighting and schmup games where timing is strict, you'll definitely feel the lag especially if you're used to how those games control on original hardware (or PC emulation). I'm proud to say I share your fascination with mobile emulation platforms like the PSP and GPD XP. Love from the Philippines! Keep it up.
I saw the notification on my phone but was waiting until I got home to watch, I was waiting for the day when you were going to discuss smartphones (particularly Android) as an emulation machine. Love the fact you started with "You know I'm huge into emulation", yes I do, its the reason I subscribed.
This is nice! I already use a cheaper one (₹1000) and it mounts my phone onto it while this ipega mounts phone in between it. Mine has excellent buttons but no L2 R2. Works great for emulation!
what I don't like about this controller is fact that you won't be able to use cable headphones if you port is on one of the sides (which is a standard place for jack nowadays) holded by the controller. also, if your phone is running out of juice, you won't be able to play with the controller while it's charging. please correct me if I'm wrong, if it does have some counter measures for this problems. shame tho.
I actually saw your video yesterday and i bought the controller right after the video ended... that never happened to me but this time i did it because i trust your judgement and ... man this controller is cheap and works great! thanks for the review / advice; keep going i love your videos!
I am literally this close to purchasing a gpd xd plus...what's your honest opinion? Gpd or get this controller and use the emulators/roms on my galaxy note 8?
Lol, you have a note 8, it will run games better, but maybe you'll have less space, since you have other apps and files which are not games and emulators
I think is basically the same, GPD runs Android, so the games/emulators you run in it will be the sames. The big question woul be: You want to use your phone battery to play games or do it in another device?
The Note 8 will be able to run later gen emulators (Dreamcast, N64, Dolphin) much better due to its more powerful hardware. However, you’ll be using your phone battery more. If you are able to top up and don’t mind the extra task of clipping the phone in, that’s a pretty decent setup, especially for less than 1/10 the cost.
S10 user here. Works like a charm in all games that support external controllers such as Minecraft for example and will also work with emulators as well. Please note however that in order to comfortably play on Drastic in Portrait mode you will need a case on the back of your phone because without it it might not be wide enough to fit into the controller properly.
I'm from France and I love your test, it convince me to buy one on gearbest, I like retrogaming, but I bought it not to play on emulator apps but at the android version of Chrono trigger and Secret of Mana
I already owned the controller before I watched this video. Just wanted to say that I'v had it about four months I use it every day and it's great, haven't had any problems with it. The D-pad feels decent, the triggers are surprisingly clicky, the thumbsticks are about what you'd expect, I'v tried better and I'v tried worse but they are entirely usable and responsive. It's also my preferred size and shape, it's very portable, able to fit into my pocket and being more like holding a PSP or PS Vita as opposed to the full size controller design of something like the ipega 9083. For what I paid it was more than worth it for me. I will say that you should order it on Amazon, you'll get it for less than on Gearbest and you won't have to wait weeks for delivery.
This seems interesting. But I like the reviewers to test the products for a longer time. Like a week. Dont review it as you open it and test it for 2 minutes.. Touch buttons for 1 second and give opinion about them. How about battery and charge time?
I have ipega 9028 for around two years now and its still works flawlessly like from the day I brought it out of the box. You are right about the testing tho.. also never measured the batery, I play with it a couple of hours a day and charge it every few days. Never actually run out of juice now that I think about it.
i always like how you be so excited anything emulation related. your gpd xd videos was the reason i bought one... and i might be buying this on as well! haha! thanks dude!

I have it's bigger brother, it fits my 10" galaxy tab for glorious 4:3 emulation. But the combination is quite heavy. It is quite big, but fits my massive hands nicely. I am currently using it to play persona 3 portable on my old phones quad hd screen. The emulator triples the resolution, and it looks a lot better than my psp screen. The one you are reviewing looks really good for portable use.

Hi Izzy, just wanted to thank you for your video. I have been wanting to turn an old Android phone into my emulation station while I travel, but didn't like the touchscreen controls. After watching your video I bought one of these Ipegas for myself and I love it. Thanks for the videos and recommendations. Now, I have to fully load the phone with all my favorite games.
Cinco A Mano Yes he does. Only issue I have with the .emu series of emulators is that they can be VERY sensitive to input lag (at least on my phone), which requires me to turn off WiFi, mobile data, and GPS. Seems to interfere with the responsiveness of my Bluetooth controllers. It's totally worth it though. They're the best performing and most accurate emulators on the Play Store aside from the cores on Retroarch.
This emulator is great and I used it before, but I just can't use it anymore because it has input lag when using controller (And it's not my gamepad's fault, it's fine when using every other emulator)
Gosha You mean with SNES9X EX+? Try turning off WiFi, Mobile Data, and GPS when using the emulator (wasn't a problem on my old LG G4 or Galaxy S4, but seems to be an issue on my V20). Also make sure to turn GPU copy mode to "standard." If you leave it on default, it just defaults to the "surface texture" mode which causes input lag. This is something that has affected every Android device I had.
I love ipega controllers. The past 3 years I've owned 3 of them. My first one was really small with the phone holder thing on top, and didn't have proper analog sticks. They were these flat ones with bumps on them that were hard on the old thumbs after a while. The buttons were also quite clicky. My second one was similar only bigger and less compact, but it had proper analog sticks. One of the analogs on it got busted somehow. The third one is massive. I bought it about 2 years ago for my tablet. This one looks like a nice size and has proper joy sticks too
I just got the Moto Z2 alongside the Moto Gamepad, what an emulation machine! GameCube, Wii, GBA PSP, PS1 all with a controller that attaches without Bluetooth hence little to no latency.
More like ee-pey-gah. In Asian languages, I is pronounced like the letter E just like in Spanish. Actually, the vowels are pronounced the exact same way. A = Ah, E = Ey, I = Ee, O = Oh and U = Yoo.
@@saysoun752 maybe you are only talking about people of the mongoloid race like the Chinese and the like. Filipinos don't speak like that. Spanish vowels don't sound like that either. Filipino language has a lot in common with Spanish. Words are mostly spoken in both languages based on how you spell them. Save in cases of silent letters in Spanish words that do not have a derivative. And I studied Spanish, so I know.
Maybe e - pa - gi in english, ipega in indonesia. E = I, A = E, I = A. I pronounse like Ai, but in Indonesia I pronounse just like i in "in" word without the n. #sorryifimwrong
Do you know what I wanted to do when I was watching this video? Give you a pill to calm yourself down 😂 It's like the moment that controller lit up, you lost your shit completely and went berserk 😂 I can relate to that adrenaline rush cause of my ADHD. And thank you for spreading the word. Retro gaming is so fun. I completed Super Mario brothers after years and years of trying cause I had it in my hand, on the "Go" if you know what I mean 😂 Thank you for this content. It makes me really happy. God bless brother! 👌🏼
How about the ergonomic feeling? Do your hands or fingers hurt after a while? I am asking because it is not really shaped like a classic controller and I have pretty big hands....
Do you have any problems with the left joystick. I've heard some bad reviews about the controller's. That why I wanna hear if you have any problems with this?
You cracked me up when you put the GPD XD+ in it. Actually, I bet you could map the extra controls. Not sure which game/system that would be useful for. Maybe a PC game, DOSBOX?
If you want something bigger, the Ipega 9082 is up your alley. It's a bit more expensive but it has a grip, it extends longer. Would fit for something bigger tbh.
I've got one of these controllers. I use it with an old Sony Experia. I have 2000+ titles for NES, SNES, Master System, Megadrive, Neo Geo and PC Engine. I haven't noticed any lag.
I bought control because of this video, I am extremely satisfied with the control, small, practical and resistant (great for short games) I even play with him at work interval and between classes of the college (thing of no max 40 min) it is ideal for emulating DS since it has a vertical mode to accommodate the two screens! only cons is not being able to use the headset in landscape mode and the lack of support (feet) in the hand control, which makes it very uncomfortable to play more than an hour with it Everything depends of course on the need and context of how you play, I usually play long games with my PS4 control that is also paired with the phone and if you buy a support is very worth it (if you already have a ps4) Want practicality for transport and short games? so buy without fear, if you want something more comfortable for long hours, buy an ipega more like a conventional control ALIAS suppressed by Izzy does not comment that the Red knight is an almost identical copy of the joycons of the Switch
I have the same Ipega + a bigger Ipega, both are absolutely great for emulation on my phone. Combine this with a seperate profile on your phone and Daijisho as a launcher on that profile and you got a portable emu console
this guy: "relatively expensive" me in the UK: £130 per device that isn't "relatively expensive" that is just expensive and would take about 2-4 days to earn for someone on minimum wage.
The PhoneJoy which had the same overall design came with a small piece that you inserted next to the phone. It plugged into the phone jack, and then you could plug your headphones into it. A bit clunky, but it worked.
I bought one of these, and found out the battery is busted... And it's impossible to read anything on it... Could bother you to open yours and tell me what battery is in it?
I know I am late for this but I have one of these controllers now and it wont connect. When I try to connect with it, all it says is "Cannot Pair With Device" anyone have a solution?

They're the best performing and most accurate emulators on the Play Store aside from the cores on Retroarch.
This emulator is great and I used it before, but I just can't use it anymore because it has input lag when using controller (And it's not my gamepad's fault, it's fine when using every other emulator)
Gosha
You mean with SNES9X EX+? Try turning off WiFi, Mobile Data, and GPS when using the emulator (wasn't a problem on my old LG G4 or Galaxy S4, but seems to be an issue on my V20).
Also make sure to turn GPU copy mode to "standard." If you leave it on default, it just defaults to the "surface texture" mode which causes input lag. This is something that has affected every Android device I had.
@@LarryLopez91, thank you! I've changed it to "standard" and it removed input lag!

*GPD looking at me*: "This isn't even my final form!"
Video console the anima episode one
I just got the Moto Z2 alongside the Moto Gamepad, what an emulation machine! GameCube, Wii, GBA PSP, PS1 all with a controller that attaches without Bluetooth hence little to no latency.
9:25 "the new nintendo 4DS Looks great!"
@Ethan Stam is also a Word game
You're amazing i was literally looking AT this very same controller and I was skeptical about it then found your video ;)
It's eye-peh-gah
@@supremalex3572 Spanish vowels always sounds like that.
Skeebeep Boopeepeep i-pig-a
Maybe e - pa - gi in english, ipega in indonesia.
E = I, A = E, I = A.
I pronounse like Ai, but in Indonesia I pronounse just like i in "in" word without the n.
#sorryifimwrong
This looks better than all the missing the on-screen buttons I currently do
Do you know what I wanted to do when I was watching this video?
Give you a pill to calm yourself down 😂
It's like the moment that controller lit up, you lost your shit completely and went berserk 😂
I can relate to that adrenaline rush cause of my ADHD.
And thank you for spreading the word.
Retro gaming is so fun.
I completed Super Mario brothers after years and years of trying cause I had it in my hand, on the "Go" if you know what I mean 😂
Thank you for this content.
It makes me really happy.
God bless brother! 👌🏼
Today and last night I’ve been binging you’re videos because I’m interested in getting a psp for emulation
*Sees Red Knight controllers*

What is a good quad core phone with 2 GB of RAM for under $100?
Lemme look it up and I’ll get back to you. I’d love to review more phones here!
Thanks!
✔️Tagging for later
Dont mind me I'm just saving this thred
look around for a huawei y7, octa core 2gb ram
Nice video man. I am from Bahia/Brazil and no matter the language, you are at the top!
I'm a native Chinese, according to their Chinese transliteration, it's supposed to pronounce /ai'pegə/.
Pretty sure written like that means "eye-peg-uh"
It says..... Ping ling ding dong
Thank you for considering that not everyone who watches your videos live in the states or Canada it's very considerate of you
How's the latency in this thing?
I'm not noticing any. Sure it is there but I can't see it.
Little to no latency
definitely not as bad as a ds4 controller..lol
@@bojidarmartinov5949 The DS4 latency is really low
Is it comfortable to play with?
"A *CHEAPER* way to emulate"
It costs... one thousand over here..
You need inflation medication.
over where?
1 thousand what though?
1000 php
20 USD = 987.40 PHP now.
For that price point, you can't really find something better unless you want to settle with a low-quality controller.
How about the ergonomic feeling? Do your hands or fingers hurt after a while? I am asking because it is not really shaped like a classic controller and I have pretty big hands....
First, you get me wanting the XD Plus. Now you got me wanting this controller? What is your game, Nobre man?
Do you have any problems with the left joystick. I've heard some bad reviews about the controller's. That why I wanna hear if you have any problems with this?
tbh i just use a combination of my Wii and Android to emulate
You cracked me up when you put the GPD XD+ in it. Actually, I bet you could map the extra controls. Not sure which game/system that would be useful for. Maybe a PC game, DOSBOX?
Me: mom can we get a nintendo switch
Mom:no we have one at home
Nintendo switch at home:
Stop talking about my life
If you want something bigger, the Ipega 9082 is up your alley. It's a bit more expensive but it has a grip, it extends longer. Would fit for something bigger tbh.
Input lag video for these type of controllers would be amazing. I am looking at trying to get a usb wired xbox controller ..
I've got one of these controllers. I use it with an old Sony Experia.
I have 2000+ titles for NES, SNES, Master System, Megadrive, Neo Geo and PC Engine.
I haven't noticed any lag.
I bought control because of this video, I am extremely satisfied with the control, small, practical and resistant (great for short games) I even play with him at work interval and between classes of the college (thing of no max 40 min) it is ideal for emulating DS since it has a vertical mode to accommodate the two screens!
only cons is not being able to use the headset in landscape mode and the lack of support (feet) in the hand control, which makes it very uncomfortable to play more than an hour with it
Everything depends of course on the need and context of how you play, I usually play long games with my PS4 control that is also paired with the phone and if you buy a support is very worth it (if you already have a ps4)
Want practicality for transport and short games? so buy without fear, if you want something more comfortable for long hours, buy an ipega more like a conventional control
ALIAS suppressed by Izzy does not comment that the Red knight is an almost identical copy of the joycons of the Switch
1:52 dont twirl that knife young man!
I always do that in cooking class
you shouldnt then mmmmmhhhhhhmmmmm
I have the same Ipega + a bigger Ipega, both are absolutely great for emulation on my phone.
Combine this with a seperate profile on your phone and Daijisho as a launcher on that profile and you got a portable emu console
What Phone are you using
I think it's the Google Pixel 2
@@LuisLupina mi a2
Dude! I love your shows. That controller is hot! More please.
"Physical controls the way it was meant to be played!"
....plays Mario World with analog stick. 😋
An analog stick is still a physical control!
1:52 ....that is simultaneously badass and also concerning given how many times you must have tried that...without success.
Get this and a dock for your phone that has an HDMI port and boom you have a Switch
You know i got a PSP 1004 in mint condition over a week ago and it's working great as emulation platform. Great video
this guy: "relatively expensive"
me in the UK: £130 per device
that isn't "relatively expensive" that is just expensive and would take about 2-4 days to earn for someone on minimum wage.
Thank you for reviewing this product I'm definitely going to pick it up now
YOU CANT ACCESS THE HEADPHONE JACK WITH THIS CONTROLLER!
Well, duuuuhhhh....
The PhoneJoy which had the same overall design came with a small piece that you inserted next to the phone. It plugged into the phone jack, and then you could plug your headphones into it. A bit clunky, but it worked.
That, is an epic bruh moment.
I bought one of these, and found out the battery is busted... And it's impossible to read anything on it... Could bother you to open yours and tell me what battery is in it?
It’s pronounced I-peg-ah (I’m on my mum’s acc ok)
I got this one, used with SS Note FE
And really satisfied with it :D
Na hora do Tony Hawks parecia vendedor do 1406. Kkkkkkkk
Ordered mine, excited!
I begged you on Insta to post a new video and you did???? I LOVE YOU IZZY
Great video! That bluetooth controller looks pretty cool I might check it out.
Don't break the law
Just ordered mine, should be here Friday. Thank you for the video.
Does it work I heard some did not
From the reviews
I love these kind of videos, It'd be awesome if you made more of these
Nice to see iPega following the designs of flyDigi Wee.
My 9055 is getting old and broken should I upgrade or get a replacement
Thanks for the video Izzy. Any idea if it is possible to connect the controller to the phone via a USB OTG without using Bluetooth?
Please upload more videos like these and more about emulation on pc too :) love your videos
I know I am late for this but I have one of these controllers now and it wont connect. When I try to connect with it, all it says is "Cannot Pair With Device" anyone have a solution?
