Wow, just superb really gives me some nostalgia the VHS feel and the beautiful East Strasburg yard, engine house, East Strasburg station are amazing. Even if you made this documentary and didn't even release the model I would be thrilled with that. Less like a promo and more like a full on documentary and the open air coaches look stunning. You never cease to impress! Keep up the outstanding work!
Otaku Railfan they actually pay the other person to blow the whistle the most out of all the employees at Strasbourg u can here them say it while riding the train irl
I love the SRC. I first went there when the station was a crossing shanty and no steam. I've been back as often as possible over the years but my biggest thrill was in 1967 when I walked from our parking spot past the shop and there was the 90! I had seen her many times in TRAINS and Railroad magazines but never dreamed I'd ever see her in person and alive. What a great engine! Always be a special spot in my heart for the 31 but nothing compares to sights, sound or smells from the 90.
The first steam locomotive I ever saw in my life (in person anyways) was this beautiful engine, I have to say, it might’ve been some time ago that I saw the engine but the model you have create fits every last detail I can remember and it’s amazing, you can bet I’ll be picking this up very soon
I love they way that all the coaches were painted back then during that time, and i especially love the way the Hello Dolly Looked too. I wish The Strasburg would repaint their coaches to appear like they did during this time and rebuild all of their open air cars to look just like the Hello Dolly Does from this time period.
Amazing work on this model, it really does look and sound the part. I also really like the model of PRR 1223. You guys really make some amazing content for Trainz.
Watching K&L make fantastic models make me regret buying train simulator by dovetails. Good thing is the Trainz 12 and K&Ls models aren't that expensive at all so I'm gonna be having lots of fun.
As of 2014, Strasburg 90 and Frisco 1630 are the only preserved decapods in operation, at least in the United States. And I look forward to what the N&W 475 will come with.
Saw 1223 in the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania about 12 years ago. Beautiful old engine. Rode behind 89 a day later IIRC. Strasburg truly is a magical place.
“Yup. We pay that ghost 27.50 a day to sit there and blow that whistle back.” XD It’s beautiful. Well done. I can’t wait to see what the Trainz community does with this. On a side note, where did you get the 31?
What a great locomotive, I think this locomotive had quite some history to it. For instance, did you know Steve that Strasburg Railroad #90 and Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 #127 formally known as #1278 doubleheaded together in a special passenger train run. When I first saw that footage of those two highballing, I was astonished by the display. But whether that Canadian Pacific #127 ever gets commissioned or not, I don’t care. I’ll always be excited for this locomotive and all the rest of your iron horse collection for many years to come.
WUT RKProRacer Oh yeah, and there is video proof of it too. Look up Twilight of Steam video, the entire length of the video should be about 30:00+ long and right around the 26:40 mark you’ll see what I just described above. The sound for the steam locomotives have been dubbed unfortunately, but that is just the way the dvd producers half to do it because the footage is so old.
WUT RKProRacer Maybe after they complete Norfolk and Western 475 (which is the next train up #1 on the list to be commissioned if you didn’t already know), they would do that. That would be a great addition to the Strasburg Railroad.
That’d be cool if Jointed Rail Collabed with you guys to make the Strasburg Railroad since you have literally all the engines for it. I love this locomotive especially being around it all the time! Great job guys your unbelievably talented.
I wanna go to the Strasburg Railroad someday, and if you're wondering what happened to #7002, #31, #1223, let me tell you. #7002 was retired from excursion service on December 20, 1989, and it was donated to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, where it stands today on static display. For #31, it was removed from excursion service in 2009 for a heavy rebuild. As of 2022, it's currently undergoing restoration to bring it back under steam. #1223 was retired on October 26, 1989, and like #7002, it was donated to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania where it's currently on display.
this is a great video i've now gain a liking for the 90 (after i said n&w 475 is my favorite one of the src fleet the gwr 90 is in the same position and cn 89 too)
I didn't know that the GWR railway made an American steam locomotive I thought they just made British steam locomotives. But I love this video of strasburg railroad #90.
That’s how 90 actually blows down now. The earlier GW and SRC engines will blow outward but the newer era models will blow straight down as Strasburg 90 actually does.
Steve lerro the PRR 1223,PRR 7002,and Canadian National 31. Are they reskins that y’all done? Because I have to say they’re not that bad to be Strasburg railroad reskined locomotives. One of the best videos ever in my opinion. Good work. Thumbs up for this video.
89 came in 1972. It was out of service most of the 1980s. Which is why it wasn't shown in the video, and also a big reason 7002 showed up. 7002 went back to the museum around the same time 89 came back into service in the late 80s, and 1223 was done in 1989. 2 years later they bought 475, putting her into service in 1993.
In your consist, you have #200 the “London Rub”. I’ve seen photos and videos of this actual car, but I can’t find any information on it. Does anyone have anything on it?
London Run was originally Western Maryland coach #200, and later #835. Strasburg acquired the car and renumbered it to its original number 200. Strasburg eventually traded to the car with the museum of PA for the WM wood coach which is now car #105 the Warren F. Benner. London Run was painted back in it's WM scheme and renumbered back to #835. As of now, the car is at the Durbin & Greenbrier line in WV.
I went to Strasbourg a few months ago and I loved everything so thx for making a video about 90 it’s the most famous locomotive there. And at the Strasbourg museum there’s a Virginia and Truckie RR engine
In the future, here are some projects you could try: GSMR 1702 Morris County Central Railroad 385 ATSF 2-10-4 Strasburg Camelback 1187/Reading 4 PRR T1 5550 GTW 6323 (Unsimilar to 6325, same class tho)
Another amazing model as always. And an amazing route to go with it! Is it the route from Commuter Rail or entirely custom? If it’s custom the attention to detail is amazing as well!
It's noted in the credits that I made all the scenes. The Commuter Rail route was not used at all. It's station buildings where but I ended up making my own engine shed because of how much older it needed to be.
When Steve Lerro decides to make a narrated documentary, he does it with style. Which is why is he never ceases to amaze me! Even without narration!
Jachon Clark I agree this video was really cool it was able to turn it into an old video tape
8:13 love seeing 90 whistling at the Amtrak crews
I know right
There's just something about old the steamer whistles that gives me goosebumps. What a sound.
Superbly made! I particularly liked the amtrak scene and the extra VHS-like effects.
It's one of my favorite scenes in the video!
K&L Trainz Who’s F40PH is that? More specifically, which K5LA is that on the DLS? I dig it.
Awesome video Steve!

Have to say you’ve done it again. Superb job Steve!!
"we pay that locomotive $27.50 " lol wonderful model!
They've been saying that every single trip since the 1960s. I'm sure they're sick of it by now lol
I Know its corny ( no pun intended) but it's funny to me
Otaku Railfan they actually pay the other person to blow the whistle the most out of all the employees at Strasbourg u can here them say it while riding the train irl
[WUT] RKProRacer well the real deal is it’s an echo. But you pretty sure get a few people with that.

Absolutely outstanding Steve. Great work!
This is probably the best model you made hands down

OH MY GOD IT’S OUT! I love the SRC, and I’ve ridden behind the 89 and 90, so this is great!

I modified one side and the front end of CN 7470 for the video. Nothing substantial enough to consider release worthy.
I see. Thank you for the info. May I guess, however, that you may create the O9 switcher should it be commissioned?
Patriot Works the “ghost” gets paid the most out of all Strasbourg employees
The narration I heard a few weeks ago they said $20. The economy is really taking a hit!
Sad 90 going for the inspection
Very impressive job well done! Next project N&W 475!
I love how you added the “yep we pay that Ghost $25.50 a day to sit out there and blow the whistle back” that was the funniest part of the ride.
