if I ever have my own tour bus Im going to build a bolt for bolt replica of Johnny Cash's bus
Oh, it's Rhett from R.J.'s channel :D
So many VCRs
RUclips’s rat pack
R.J. Ronquillo You could modify the VCRs to surf RUclips. No one would even suspect because they wouldn’t know how to operate them anyway. They would definitely have to put black electrical tape over the flashing clock.........Love the dog ear P90 on the Gretch!
Nailed it with you getting the Gretsch. The tone of those things is amazing.
You and Rhett need to get together, he just reconnected via a pick up change with his Gretsch. Thanks for taking us through gear fest. I have been considering a road trip there, now I’ll plan for next year. Enjoy the new guitar it’s really beautiful and sounds spectacular.
Excellent coverage, RJ! Thanks for coming to GearFest, we hope you enjoyed it!
That's some funky groovy track running in the back...
Keeping the Gretsch in tune the struggle is real.
SWater sells with a smile and takes it back with a smile, if its not working out. Quality place, and they work hard to keep you satisfied. Very nice Vid. Thanks for creating and posting.
Good to see you there R.J.!
Thanks for bringing us along for the day.
Great to see you bought a Gretsch, RJ - and the Eddie Cochran model at that!! I have to say I never thought you would, didn't think they would be your "cup of tea" as we say. Personally I have always had a soft spot for them, they are just different and so cool.
That Gretch sounds soooooooo good! 🤗And it looks cool to 😉
Ah very cool Gretsch RJ! I played for many years before ever considering one. Have owned all these at one time or another before looking at Gretsch.....LPs, 335s, Strats, Teles, Heritage, Ibanez, PRSs, Yamaha, Epis etc. I now have 3. Two Sparkle Jets and a White Falcon w/TVJs. They are excellent guitars and can cover more sonic ground than one may think.
I Really Liked the Kotzen Tele. Great Artist.
DUDE! Had I known you were there, I would have went just to meet you. I live 30minutes away from Sweetwater. It's a great company. Loved the video.
RJ - I love it that food is always given a segment in all of your videos!! Keep rocking and snackin man.
wow, loved the Friedman T-style !
I was really digging that JB 355... It sounded like you were nailing his vibrato and some of his licks, too, on it. Plus, that treble level sound on those high notes sounded just like Joe. I would certainly like to have it, but, as soon as I saw you playing those specific chops on that Gretsch, my money was on you buying that one.
Nice video! First time I’ve ever seen you! Thanks for covering gearfest. This is the first year I’ve heard of it too. Didn’t realize how big Sweetwater actually was. Great company! Is that music store open all the time? It’s within driving distance and I may be broke from now on out. Again, Thanks for covering it! And that was some very nice playing! Love that New guitar!
I've spent a lot of money at Sweetwater, my favorite music gear source. I'm not too far away. Maybe I'll make next year's Fest. Thanks for the tour RJ. The new guitar is beautiful.
That JB Epiphone sounded unreal!
So the good news is that it was a beautiful day. and not really that crowded. You and that Gretch sounded Great. RJ and Baker watching Vai. lol Oh cool you got the Gretch... perfect. That really sounded great when you were playing it. I think Rock a Billy is the real you. I love it too.
I LOVE me some Sweetwater!!! I am so jealous! You live an envious guitar life my friend. :-)
You playing the Gretsch sounded so good
I thought you were gonna buy the ep, Sweetwater looks like a cool place, I bought a Les Paul and a audio interface from them online, they even have on line tech support for old men like me. thanks for posting the video R.J.
Great video RJ - you really gave us the feeling of the event and it seems like it was a blast! That's a beautiful guitar you bought, it sounds great. I saw you were featured in the Wampler video of the event too :-)
as soon as you said you bought something , I was SURE you had bought the Gretsch - enjoy it !
Great vid RJ, thanks for sharing💥🎸✌
Got to go to my first SWEETWATER gear fest in my home state. I was stunned by how many great drummers were there! (I'm a drummer) I can't believe this event is free! So overwhelming! The only negative is it's crowded...uh...wait...what I really meant to say was gear fest sucks! Stay away!
I KNEW the Gretsch would be it. (Sorry Joe) Great video!
I thought for sure you was going to get the 335 but I remember you checking out another orange gretsch on a earlier video so didn't suprise me. I know a lot of players who really dig the Bonamassa 335's. Great videos.
FYI RJ has been around for many many years before Rhett. Sorry RJ but I’ve been watching since the lonesome Joseph days. 11 yrs to be exact.
Rhett obviously markets his "brand" better than RJ, who is such a great musician he doesn't bother marketing himself at all, other than his playing....!
Damn man that Gretsch sounds killer! :)
Another phenomenal video RJ, thanks. Living in Ireland, and having never heard of Sweetwater, such an eye opener, Tks.
I've been told it's similar to Thomann in Europe.
The Epi sounded killer in your hands!
Worked there for 3 years as a Sales Engineer, love that company, very cool to see you do a video on it!
I wish I could've been there I live 2 hours from Sweetwater but I had gigs all weekend!!!!
I did think you bought the Joe B. but the Gretsch is beautiful! Welcome to the Gretsch family.
Robert Baker! I just bought his course :)
Thats a real guitar, great choice !
I was the guy in the Ford Expedition who said I know that guy when you were walking in!!
That was you!!
Nice job with that Howard Roberts stuff at about 11:00 . The Velvet Groove is one of my all-time favorite albums. Insanely great.
That Epiphone was pretty cool 👌
That was a slick purchase; that Gretsch is 🔥🔥🔥.
-Aaron
When you were playing that Gretsch I was thinking "BUY IT MAN! BUY IT! IT's THE COOLEST GUITAR THERE. BUY IT!!!!!"
....and you bought it. : )
That's funny, I was thinking the same thing 😄
Excellent choice with the Gretsch 6120-EC. That model is the third Gretsch I ever bought and I have no regrets. I love having the P-90 in the neck and the DynaSonic at the bridge. It's a killer combination. Plus I love the western motif, even though Chet Atkins apparently wasn't thrilled with it 😄. I hope you enjoy your Gretsch as much as I enjoy mine. Great video too. I really enjoyed it.
That gretsch was beautiful.
Thanks for the tour, RJ. Was awesome. Nice guitar.
RJ, I love your vlogs. If you ever ask yourself if it’s worth all the editing... the answers is yes. It’s like Christmas when there’s a notification about a vlog on your channel. Keep it up!!
I knew it was going to be the Gretsch ,that’s an Eddy Cochran or Horton if my memory serves me well..Enjoy it and imo a great guitar to have in your arsenal...
Eddie Cochran is correct!
It would be really neat if you tabbed out all those licks you played on the Gretsch. Those were tasty.
I thought you were going to get the ep, but that Gretchen is sweet
Thanks for cutting back to Shawn Tubbs. Gearfest looks like a lot of loud fun. Been contemplating a visit; maybe next year... Keep up the good work RJ. Enjoying the vids!
Hey RJ aren’t you Rhett’s tech?? Love your stuff man I’ve managed to round up bout 23 subscribers for you over the last few months bud so keep it going!!
Happy New Guitar, RJ
It's a beaut.
Sweetwater looks great, we don't have anything like that in the UK.
Great vlog RJ!
Sweetwater is fantastic! Great video
Eddie Cochran's signature Gretsch! One of their prettiest models imo. Actually got my first ever Gretsch a few months ago. Loving it even though not liking the volume knob's position which keeps sliding and lowering the volume when playing sitting down. Great video and insight for sure. Thanks!
no way you were getting the epi ! LOL Gretsch are great value 4 the $ Cheers ✌🏼
LOL "HOY! pssst!"
Great video RJ! Would you ever tab out those jazz licks for us rockers looking to test the waters? Hope you are feeling better
Wow!!! What a place to go, and you RJ are the man. Walking around playing guitars ,lookin at gear and no matter what ...you could play a skateboard with bailing wire and it would sound good. I am still trying to play the slide part that you did on that video with the Eastwood Hound dog guitar, damn good .Thank you
I got on Johnny Cash's bus in 2017, i almost forgot about that. thank you for your recording of it
Bummer about the food poisoning, but I went there last year for the first time and 1 day is definitely enough to get the whole experience. I only live 2 hours away, so I'll probably go again next year. I think the best part is meeting all the guitar player pros, the freebies, and the seminars.
Next time in northern Indiana contact me. I'm in between Fort Wayne and South Bend. If I didn't have a gig that day, I was planning to go to gear fest.
I had so much fun at my first Gearfest this year I'm making it a regular thing! It was great!
Well now that you've got the Gretsch you're gonna need to polish up your Chet Atkins chops. It seems like you've already got Duane Eddy and Eddie Cochran down pat!
Luv that Gretsch! :)
Motion tracked 80's themed call outs? Awesome - great video!
Glad you had a good Gearfest, man. I was demonstrating over at the Seymour Duncan booth all weekend and we were positioned between Orange amps and Aguilar basses, so it was really loud! A week later and I think my ears and voice are getting back to normal now, finally lol. Nice Gretsch! Cheers.
Wait what?? Was that a B bender Friedman?? Great VLOG RJ, the only problem I have with Gearfest is that you need a US address to register, as a Canadian I always need to "borrow" an address to register!!
Yes a Glaser bender installed by Friedman. It's Brian Wampler's.
Finally!!
Thanks for sharing RJ! And yeah, I thought you were getting the Epi. Lol. Enjoy the new guitar! Ingat bro! :)
I knew it was Gretsch the whole time... You liked it
Love how you make that Gretsch sing!
LOL! "Yep.., it's a music store..."...
Damn I was going to go this year!!!
That was an awsome video! I love it coming from the perspective of a Guy who's been in the LA scene and the Nashville scene. By the way did you ever bump into Jay Graydon or Luis Carlos Maldonado your LA days? Now I'm gonna go look for Vai's video of R.J.'s soundcheck...
I've never met those guys unfortunately.
That Gretsch is awesome! Great buy!
Good one dude
What a cool video to wake up to LOL. Yes I enjoyed this much!! Thanks RJ
Glad you made it!
Thank you for posting this. Good job, great summary and coverage with a bit of everything! Are you planning the same for summer NAMM or even a 30 min live streaming feed: R.J. Talk from the show floor?
Great video. I see you didn't buy the JB355, but you sure made me want one! Killer demo!
THIS BACKING TRACK THO! What is it RJ?? Sounds awesome.
Love your vlogs! Greetings from Germany
Nice! That chet atkins one looks killer
Damn! I wanna go! I can't go to NAMM.
Brand new Caddillac on that Gretch please .
I am sorry you also got food poisoning, what did u eat ?I was the guy that said hello wearing the grey blazer, while u near baker, happy u had fun.
Your quality has gone up! Must be hanging out with Rhett 😎
Best caption award goes to you RJ
Nice Silverado.
I'm going to plan a trip for next year.
I am so bummed, I was 2 hrs out and realized I lost my wallet on the road somewhere on my drive. Was looking forward to it and possibly meeting you.. I did get to have some breakfast with my friend Miquel Cancino before the debacle. Thanks for this video
That sucks man!! I hope you find it.
R.J. Ronquillo it’s somewhere on 65 in Kentucky. Thanks
Wish I’d known about gearfest before I moved from Ohio. That would have been an hour and half drive. Thanks for sharing
Maybe it's my choice of breakfast herbs but when RJ was playing the red tele and made that face he looked just IIke Buck Owens.
I was thinking that you were going to get the Gretsch.
Nope - I knew you were going with the Gretsch when I saw you playing it, although the 335 was nice obviously. Thanks for the show tour. I am a relatively new sub and yes, I did see you on Rhett's channel first, but I would not say you are "from" Rhett's channel. Are you planning on going to Summer NAMM? I think I am going to check it out this year.
I'll be at SNAMM for sure!
Thought the ES was your choice, you looked like it had passion for ya
That Gretsch sounds awesome man, did you make a clip with it yet?
7:42 only if epiphone headstock are like this
