Billies brother was 17 ,he wrote and produced this song. BILLIE WAS 13,
They recorded it for her music class . It was all done in his little bedroom
Watch her carpool karaoke. If your daughter hasn't seen it ,she'll love it.
One of the trademarks of Finneas’ production for Billie is the layering of her vocals, big bass, and that panning in the headsets.
The way you describe the sound of this song after the first verse makes me realize you know what you’re talking about. You describe it perfectly
Not really a fan of pop. More of a rock n roll guy myself. But this song is so beautiful. The melodies are insanely catchy
Apparently, she does all her doubled voices as herself as separate takes and records take after take after take after take until it's perfect.
You should do more Billie Eilish. Her music is so great. From her LP to WWAFAWDWG and happier than ever!! Even her singles are wonderful.
Very interesting technical and aesthetic vocabulary you bring to the analysis. Like it.
Man this song really takes me back. I think tink this is the strongest nostalgia ive ever ive ever feelt. Back into those ocean eyes 💙
"Under 10 subscribers." Man! I love seeing your growth so much. I really do
Enjoyed your reaction to Billie's music. Finneas won a Grammy for Producer of the Year in 2020 for When we al Fall Asleep Where do we go, but you might enjoy the productions of the earlier Don't Smile at Me EP which is very creative as well. Great sounds! Thanks. Also, there is a great video on how they made Bad Guy, and another on sounds they made for Bury a Friend, you might enjoy.
I will check it out
I recommend that you listen/react to deja vu by olivia rodrigo! Also another song from Billie’s first ep is “watch” which I also highly recommend!
i recomend you to react to :
IDONTWANNABEYOUANYMORE by Billie eilish
Finneas is a self taught producer and and this along her first EP and WWAFAWDWG were written, recorded, and produced in Finneas’ bedroom. This was written by Finneas. and I suggest another early one Six Feet Under.
Wow Geebz, so glad you mentioned this other channel in your stream today! And this is truly a great song to decompose, you articulated a lot of things that I felt in there too. Great video. :)
When Billie was 12. She was told ,in her home schooling class to pick a tv show or movie and write a song about it, she chose,
THE WALKING DEAD,
She wrote the song her brother who was 16 helped with the arrangement and back ground vocals .
Check it out, it's called,
FINGERS CROSSED.
Agreed! Billie in interviews has never shown much love for this track ... she thinks it's about zombies and tends to dismiss it as juvenalia, but I think it's one of her and Finneas' most profound early creations. R (Australia)
Such a beautiful song
Congrats on all your new subscribers.
Just found this channel, you should promote it on the main channel! I like all kinds of music, but generally not pop. This song however blew me away when I first heard it, all I knew was she has such a beautiful voice, you did a great job breaking down what's so good about it
Enjoyed your take. I find Billie and Finneas' (her brother and producer) songs endlessly interesting. If you do more of them in the future I'd suggest "bury a friend" and "you should see me in a crown". Sidebar, Billie was a serious dancer until injury forced her to pursue a different career path. Seems to be working out so far.
Man I’d love to hear your reaction to her/ their third album. It is truly incredible. You would love CHIHERO
i like you! your channel is super underrated
Clark Little uses this as a soundtrack for some of his ocean/surf/wave videos. Fits perfectly 🌊
Please pick any of the 10 tracks on Billie Eilish’s new album Hit Me Hard And Soft and react.
Would you consider reacting to more Billie’s music? Especially her more complex songs, such as Bury a Friend, which I consider her best song (not the same as favourite songs, though it’s also up there). I’d be fascinated to hear more analytical details about her from you
pls listen to good 4 u by olivia rodrigo. I think you'll really like it!
It's amazing how u enjoy the music! As viewers we can see how your body just feel it and I'm kinda jealous that not everyone can understand music in the way you can! Maybe it would be a good idea to make next series about music from non-english countries? My polish proposition is Sanah - szampan.
Love this reaction based on your specific expertise. Also really appreciate your open mind about various types of music. Would you 'decompose' Hozier's Arsonist's Lullaby and/or Work Song? Would love to hear your take on either/both coming from a composer's standpoint.
I loved this reaction, ty. Would love to see you react to her " Everything I Wanted" Hugs from Sweden.
subbed and 500th like
Before she was famous, she did a cover of Drake's,
HOTLINE BLING
Check out her version. It's completely different.
She and her bro have a very strict self imposed work ethic, they are impassioned and professional when it comes to music production. And also they don't like using autotune (they used just for some specific effects). But when Billie won't hit a note, they just record it again... and again, and again, until it sounds good.
I recommend that you listen to exile by taylor swift and bon iver. It's (in my opinion) the best song from her new indie album Folklore, which did win Album of the year at the grammys a couple of months ago. I really think you would enjoy it.
LOVE THAT SONG
Can you please do another songs of billie that would be great. Thanks
Perhaps you ought to check her latest song "30th" because it would be interesting to see your decomposition skills, especially the bridge of the song. Very simple, yet no less captivating.
I have suggestions for more billie eilish videos!
When The Partys Over
Bad Guy
No Time To Die
You Should See Me In A Crown
thanks for the reactions, they're great!
Hey, just found this new channel of yours! For me personally you can have it all in one single channel, that would be fine... But anyway, would be lovely to hear your take on Lo Vas A Olvidar (Billie Eilish + Rosalia).
And why not "Me Quedo Contigo" - Rosalia live (with the wonderful red dress).
And can I suggest a Portuguese artist David Fonseca - Chama-me Que Eu Vou ; Oh My Heart
I could go on...
I am not sure you are watching the original video. I think the original one is just a headshot with her hands. The way you describe the dancer's (in the video you are watching) movements flowing with the composition of the song, Billie hands and head does the same thing. Love your take on songs.
I really enjoyed you breaking down the sonic elements of both this and Oliva's songs. I'd like to recommend you check out Aurora Aksnes. She's a Norwegian singer/songwriter who has been creating since she was a child and she's actually the person who inspired Billie to become a performer. Her music, her voice, her personality are all such a gift to the world and there's honestly not a song by her I dislike. If you're interested, some of my favourites would be:
Runaway (if I recall correctly this was her first official single - she wrote it at age 11, which really speaks to her talent)
Churchyard
Gentle Earthquakes
The Seed
The River
It Happened Quiet
Queendom
Cure For Me
Soft Universe
Forgotten Love
But as I said, there's really nowhere you can go wrong with Aurora's music. She's incredible live and is constantly rearranging her songs for various performances. If you're keen on live performances at all, I'd highly recommend Aurora Live on KEXP, Live at the Current, the HAIK concert (which is more of a documentary-type programme with a concert at the end - very good and will give you a sense of her personality), and her live at the Nobel peace prize concert.
Just discovered your channel! Love your energy and the breakdowns. You should check out some Hozier! Particularly Moment’s Silence and Movement are songs where the production really really makes the songs!
GIRL IN RED- SEROTONIN! Eilish's brother had hand in production
Dissect Rufus du sol : underwater and interbloom! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
How about Portishead 😀?
The Rip. Machine Gun.
She was 14 when that song was released, she's now 20.
You don't seem to have a link to your "other channel" in the description? I'd be interested to see if you've done reactions/breakdowns to BAND-MAID, BLACKPINK or THE WAGAKKI BAND?
Please do Lido Pimienta "Nada" and Fatoumata Diawara "Ntereni" and Eivor Palsdottir "Trollabundin", all sound great (maybe even best?) on the live versions! And they definitely wouldn't fit on your other channel (which I love, btw) but are super diverse and fabulous and viewcount friendly. ;)
The whole world and their dog has reacted to this, Billie & Finneas' first track, recorded only for Billie's dance teacher, which accidentally went public online and, to their surprise and disbelief, went viral overnight! I must have sat through hundreds of reactions to this and subsequent tracks of theirs ... some good, mostly bad ... but although late to the party, you've brought some fresh perspectives to this and the recent Angelina Jordan track. If you want to see a startling increase in views and subscriptions, just stick to Billie, Angelina and Aurora ... and forget the rest! 🙂 R 🇦🇺
Love your videos 💕 could I please request either Pink Floyd*wish you were here* or Beatles *Hold your hand*?? PLZ 🙏🏼💕
If you haven't already you should try "Lovely" by Billie Eilish featuring Khalid and "Copycat" by Billie Eilish the Mahogany Session (acoustic) is the best version of that song in my opinion.
Lovely is such a good song. When I listen to it, it feels like ocean waves crashing over me. Almost overwhelming sometimes...
Since you are walking this path and you love Mexican and some latinamerican flavor consider go and explore female voices like Natalia Lafourcade ... no particular song ... there is a tiny desk music concert that condensed a lot of her music then and now. see you then geebz!
Think it could be awesome for Billie and Tool to get together and bring us a track.
That would be like an Ant trying to collab with Giants. Shes not even close to the skill levels of all the Tool members. Perhaps maynard can teach her to actually sing.
Pronounced Eye-Lish ;) Eilish
Listen to Demi Lovato- Dancing With The Devil
Please listen to " NAVARASAM" by Thaikodam Bridge and " MADARI " Coke Studio Vishal Dadlani
Have you ever listened to Lana Del Rey? She has a very unique style. I recommend anything from her :)
I've just watched the whole video, and wanted to add a few words to my comment. I would really recommend Lana if you are into production. The hardest part is to recommend a song. Let's say we stay basic and start with Born to die to see if you find it interesting. Thanks :)
