That’s actually a pretty cool old-school set! Plenty a room on the base to pose your divers and sharks in action scenes or even add to and create your own big coral reef. Great set Stacey!
So behind in my videos! But this one is really cute for sure - I remember seeing this in stores! This one is very reflective of how Lego used to do more expansive builds on baseplates back in the day. Too bad most stuff isn't like this anymore. Great seafloor details here!
Great review! Divers is a such great but often overlooked theme. I really should look into this set. I cannot believe that at this time Lego had Hydronauts, Stingrays, Aquaraiders and Divers all selling around the same time. At least this theme is sort of surviving in the for of City Divers.
Ooooooh Divers! I love underwater themes, and even had that one diver set with the submarine (6442-1 - Sting Ray Explorer). I'd always look at the Diver's page in the LEGO catalog and think how cool it'd be to have all of them, especially the 6559-1 - Deep Sea Bounty for the whale skeleton, and the 6441-1 - Deep Reef Refuge for the underwater base! As of to day, I haven't gone through the inventory of the parts left for my old 6442-1 - Sting Ray Explorer, but a quick glance tells me I've lost most of the parts : I can't see the yellow panels. I also can't see the propeller, but by chance I got my hands one one while buying a copy of 6155-1 - Deep Sea Predator. They both have the same propeller, and for some reason on the copy I bought second-hand had the Diver stickers on it! So now I have to order a propeller for the Deep Sea Predator (without stickers), and I'm tempted to also buy all the missing parts for the Deep Reef Refuge (I guess it'd be cheaper to buy a new one second hand, but I'd still get bothered to have an incomplete copy!) Funny that you mention your burps and lurps were missing the fish stickers: mine is too! I guess those stickers just tend to peel off overtime. The upside down vine is so genius, I love it when parts are used in inventive ways like this! I love the guy's shirt, it gives me a Paradisia vibe for some reason. Thanks for the video, can't wait for the next!
Even though LEGO still has "Divers" Sets nowadays, they just don't compare to these old ones. I think that is mainly due to these older sets having more focus on the ocean terrain. They have a bit of an Adventurer vibe in this regard. Also Juwels weren't around until one year later with the Ninja and Adventurers theme. :-)

Another favorite of mine growing up. The shark cage was such a fun creation, I repurposed that for a lot of my builds

Were you ever into Alpha Team? The divers reminded me of the first wave of Alpha Team and the underwater theme
