Today is a day that we celebrate how girls can succeed with access to clean water!
The International Day of the Girl Child (Oct. 11) is a global observance declared by the United Nations to promote girls’ empowerment and fulfilling their human rights.

Before Easy Water for Everyone entered the villages we now serve, girls lacked access to clean water. They needed to travel miles from home while exposing themselves to disease-polluted water conditions.
More than 25% of the population of many Sub-Saharan villages must walk longer than 30 minutes round trip to collect clean water, and these collectors are overwhelmingly women and girls. They are, therefore, susceptible to acquiring the crippling disease of schistosomiasis, carried by parasites in snails living in the water.
On the Day of the Girl 2022, Easy Water for Everyone focuses on the challenges girls face and celebrates the resilience of girls like Laurencia, 5, the middle child of three daughters in a family living in the island village of Aflive.
