Great video! I have some Rupes tools, I found them used, and very, very reasonably priced. A couple Minis, and a couple Duettos. I use them with their pads and polishers, and I really like the system. That bring said, the Porter Cable 7424 and 7424xp can do everything I need. If I wasn't a "tool junky", I'd just use the 7424. I never have vibration issues, they're light, I can sand with them, compound, polish, wax... They're a great investment - specifically for the guy wanting to take care of his own vehicles. You can find them on Craigslist every once in a while for $50- $75.00, and they last forever. I had a Flex 3401, but I liked the PC more, and sold it.
***** - Absolutely, Junkman, I just picked up a really old 7424 - pre XP, and it performs just as nice as the XP I purchased new in 2011. You used it in the sanding video, where you removed the sanding marks with Meguiar's M01, and M02 on Orange Lake Country CCS pads. One of my favorite video series!
back in Dec, I picked up a 15mm Griot's and a Rupes 21mm. I can see where each can have its use. if I could only have one, I'd stick to my flex 3401. just my own personal preference. to each their own, I always say.
I have no plans to ever buy a Rupes. My Flex and PC combination can take care of anything I run into. If some paint really wants to be nasty, the rotary is quietly resting in my tool chest.
If I am doing a dual action only process I will go large throw. Short throw I like after using a rotary to correct and then finesse before going to da to finishRotary is still the king for gloss most times

Just would like to have all the tools in my Arsenal eventually. LOL since I have the Porter-Cable should I just go straight to the 21mm? I am just doing family and friends cars. hey I will answer for you ..seems as though with a 21 you are more likly to heat the paint and leave marring or holograms compared to 15 ... so my next one is going to be 15-19 .. my griots sucks compared to harbor freight ( HF is was more powerful)

I love the 15! Its the perfect size if your looking to buy only one polisher. I use the 21 more daily, but every time I use it I am quickly reminded of why its perfect.
For those experienced enough to use one, I highly recommend it. It is my go to polisher for pretty much every job I start that has never has a correction done before.

Hello, sir.... please why NOONE thalks about the HEAT??? if you really using 21mm throw polisher your will have seen the heat matter that they provides. not so much with the 15mm but still excists
I purchased the Flex 22D long throw after all the great reviews it seemed to work well but for the money the durability was lacking. I would not recommend this machine because after only 21 vehicles it totally failed parts flew it out every where.

Get good with the rotary and you won't need anything else.

The 9227c is a Makita polisher guys, not a DeWalt. Still both great rotary polishers.

I like my 3401 over my Rupes 15 for cut...
That's because they are two different class of polishers with the Flex being far superior for cutting. Add to that, it cost LESS.
