  • Viega MegaPress System fittings are tough; but don't take our word for it, here's the proof!
In this video, Bo performs a destructive test (also known as a torture test) to demonstrate just how tough MegaPressG fittings can be. This is a test commonly done live at our seminar centers in Colorado and New Hampshire.

Have you ever done a torture test on that Mega Watch you wear?

Can you use it on a brass pipe , cut the treads and press a fitting thank you

I’m going to say now. These fittings are not used for potable water if I understand correctly, and if you have a brass pipe/nipple anywhere outside of a water delivery system, I am going to say that is not the correct application of that material to being with. If it’s for a potable water delivery system, aka what’s in your home. Brass fittings are easily transitioned to copper material with threaded adapters which are available in pro-press systems. Also keep in mind if you are using brass to carry a liquid, electrolysis is something to keep in mind. Since copper is highly conductive, and brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, the electric charge generated by the movement of water is transferred equally. Transitioning to a different material, like brass to iron, can cause the electrical current to build up and essentially heat the pipe causing unwanted expansion and contraction which will loosen mechanical joints. There are dielectric unions available, but I do not believe they are available in propress or megapress, and they are not legal in many municipalities (including mine) due to how easily they can fail. Overall, could you do it? Sure! Should you do it? No!!!

Can you use Fittings on High Pressure Steam?

    • @steamplant3817

No 15 psi max on steam. Use mega press with fkm seal. For residential and commercial for steam you'll see at most 7.5 psi. Normally steam heat for commercial buildings is as low 2.5 or 3 psi. Mega press on steam is only suited for low pressure residential/commercial steam.

I wanted to see a twisting action. Turn the fitting 180 degrees one way and back under 600psi. Then try 360 degrees to see if it blows off. - I'm thinking it will.

I'm not convinced. Press 2 end caps on a foot of 2inch pipe and fill it full of black powder and add a fuse. Blow it up and compare it to a regular threaded pipe bomb in slow motion. OrdinanceLabs on youtube has all the appropriate licenses and I'm sure he would be more than willing help with the test. It would make a great thumbnail.
