I've been doing astrophotography for about half a year or so now. And I recently got a Star Adventurer mount and a pretty big lens as my first real astrophotography setup. I had taken a few photos of Andromeda before but they never turned out well but boy, couldn't have imagined the results of actually having a good mount and a good lens. Expensive hobby with incredible results, mainly thanks to your videos keeping me interested and being educational at the same time.

Great overview Trevor and nice work with the Helix. I've been using the L-eXtreme for a month or so now and have had some amazing results. When I first took some test exposures of the Dumbbell and Veil I was blown away. The QHY268C and L-eXtreme are a winning combo. I'm in awe of the leaps and bounds this hobby is taking with technology for capturing the wonders of the night sky.

Both filters have very narrow bands, but am I wrong to assume the Triad would give more color/detail with the 2 extra bands? or do these extra bands also let in more light pollution---compared to the L-eXtreme? Your review of the Triad had me convinced to get it despite the price, and combine it with QHY268, Esprit 120mm for use Bortle 9 to get some decent shots....I really don't want to get both....does each have it's own purpose in your opinion?

Hi Trevor I've been watching your videos on your channel these past couple of weeks and your imaging skills are top notch. I've done a bit myself but never had the same level of success. I may look into these dual band filters sometime soon, my favorite targets are galaxies what sort of filter would you recommend to use with a osc camera or dslr to shoot those?

How well would this work on unmodified Nikon z6 mirrorless? Thinking about getting a RedCat 51. I have a 12” lx600. Thanks

Trevor please tell me, will the Optolong L-Xtreme fetch good results, if mounted in a filter drawer and shooting with an A7 SONY III FULL FRAME DSLR camera? I mean I have already ordered this filter, hoping for a good light pollution shield and a good signal of nebulas. Is the IR filter on most non modded DSLR's - as my SONY A7 III - blocking the capabilities of the Optolong L-Xtreme 2 inch filter?

I got a serious question here maybe you Trevor or the stand up comedian above (Dylan) can answer. What's the difference between this filter and the Radian Quad Band filter? is it technically the same thing with more the Radian collecting data from more bands?

It looks like the quad passes more signal for red end, ha and sii, fair ammount of targets have sii, the other two bands it passes are hb and oiii, very few targets emit hbeta, and this filter also is designed for f2 scopes and slower. I typicaly don't see the purpose of the use of h beta in these tri, and quad band filters, it only adds extra cost...

Hey Trevor, well I couldn't wait after your first mention of this filter. Ordered it on Sunday and received it a few hours ago. Ofcourse it came with a lot of Cumulus Interuptus, so trying the filter out will have to wait a bit. Also, as I am one of those guys with an older DSLR I am very curious if your warning in this vid also applies to me (Canon 60D modded). If so, it might be the thing that pushes me over the edge to go for a dedicated astro camera too. Although I would have to go for a ZWO as I became an ASI Air (Pro) user recently.

Hi Martin how did you get on with the filter? I have a modded t6i and a t7i trevors concern is putting me off. I assume these are older models so keen to know how you got on? I’m in bortle 4
      Thanks

@@simonpepper5053 The filter works perfectly with my 60D. I am shooting SH 2-129 with it currently. I do have to shoot lots and lots of images to get to a showable result though.

Great review of this filter, just another toy to add to my wishlist. Also... you use DSS for stacking and PS for editing? I always figured you used PixInsight (or other similar astro software) for stacking and post processing. The last few images I've done I find stacking in DSS and then PI for post to work the best for me.
