  • This video is old.. by a few years. But the noise/loud crack I heard when I would accelerate or when I would come to a complete stop was about to drive me to the insane asylum! Only after crawling my ass under jeep and grabbing hold of the rear diff and rocking it back and forth was I able to finally find the annoying problem & have peace of mind. Hope it helps anyone else with the unknown noise after replacing bushings, shocks, track bars ect.. ect.

It's funny how no one watches my part 2 of this video. Which fixed the problem.

The rattle and kind of tapping sounds coming from : the REAR passenger side upper and lower shocks bolts( 15 mms)
and the upper sway bar LINKS bolt. the bolts were worn out .
Only happens on path holes or uneven surfaces.
took me 3 weeks to found out the origin of the sounds, you think the Gas tank is loose or the hitch assembly,
Replaced the bolts with new ones NO MORE NOISES.

Special bolt store in my city .
It’s hard to find them in Home Depot or Lowe’s. But you can try it .
      Good luck.

That is rear lower control arm , not track bar . Just a fyi. Good explanation video.

Yeah at the time I did say it wrong thanks. I should've done a 3rd video after I welded that piece of steel plate in on part 2 video. It fixed it. Banging and clanging noise was finally gone! It was a great Jeep! The engine was still strong with 275k and chassis was flawless But everything else was at it's end. Now it is at it's new home.. the junk yard, Pick N Pull.

That thing was moving a lot wasn't it. I just put sway bar links on last night and it cured mine for about a hour. Now I got the same thing. I bet I got the same problem. Mine is a 04 grand cherokee

Yeah if you remove your lower control arms & the bolt is sloppy because it has egged out the hole as you can see in part 2 video chances are you have the same problem. Or it's that boomerang upper control arm over your rear differential. If it's that buy it on either Carid.com or Rockauto (if you buy anything on Rockauto make sure you don't buy anything in the economy section to save money. Not worth the save when the parts only last 6-8months daily driver or better) then either attempt it yourself or like me I just dropped it off at my mechanic. Not fun doing it without a lift lol

Can the also make the rear end rock side to side when I hit and let go of the gas and got bumps?

    • @robtosoni8804
      @robtosoni8804  3 года назад +1

Yes but it can also be sway bar bushings or bad bushings in rear upper control arm. I'm not exactly sure when you say side to side. Let's put it this way. I ended taking all of my good parts off of this Jeep and put them on my newer lower miles 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland ( I know I love my WJ's)
After removing passenger side rear lower control arm to put on the Overland. I forgot that I never put one back in this Jeep. I then had to move this Jeep out of my Driveway.. yeah not a smart move! The whole rear axle shifted where it was rubbing against rear fender well (obviously 🙄) then vise versa when I backed up. Almost shredding my tire. So if you mean shifting side to side as in back & forth then yeah I would start there. Good luck.

When I hit the brake my Jeep pulls to the left because I have a bad control arm rubber bushings four wheel drive does this as rear wheel drive does not

It was a broken ring pinion gear tooth that shattered four or five other back teeth on the pinion gear itself and I cleaned the fluid out and it drives fine laugh out loud. It had no magnet to catch the tooth .
