I just bought a Roger ON recently and am very pleased with it. For the first time in 20 years or so I was able to go to a busy funeral reception with lots of people present and carry on a conversation with the person standing next to me. Hi Cliff. Something I don't believe you mentioned in your review which could be the most significant upgrade from its predecessors is the stereo capability. Yes the accessories are expensive. I have worn hearing aids for many years after enjoying normal hearing for decades. Mildly put I never realised what a difference the assisting device makes till I got roger. Better late than never.
One thing to note is the Roger ON has a USB C port, which is MUCH easier to plug in and out than the older Roger versions, which used USB Micro B (my mom had a Roger Select and it used that). USB C has a much better lifespan and amount of plugs/unplugs compared to USB Micro B, not to mention potential higher quality audio being transmitted and faster charging.

@Doctor Cliff, AuD You bring up an interesting issue I would love to see covered: How to connect to land-line phones. It seems the manufacturers think Bluetooth is the answer to our connectivity problems. It used to be relatively easy to connect to, say a cordless phone, now not so much. I have been trying to find a way to connect my Paradise to the 2 line phones we use at work with no luck. My T coil picks up rf interference from the nearby streetcar tracks and I have yet to find a device I can use with the 3.5 jack that I can use while I walk around. With lord knows how many hearing impaired folks working who need to be able to use cordless phones (esp in retail) it would seem worth addressing.
I just spent 15 minutes commenting on the importance that this device has a very quick start up time but I think my post was deleted. Why? Completely bizarre, I was making a really important point as somebody who has severe loss.
Hi, may I suggest to compare the different Roger acssesorries? For example, I do not really get the difference between the Roger On and Roger Select. Thanks for that.
Great video, thank you. Could I ask how well you think this would perform when being worn by a runner? The sound of it bouncing and wind noise are my main concerns. Thanks for your time.
Questions: Can you use multiple Roger On devices in table mode like a table mic 2 or will it only work in presenter mode like the Roger select? Is there any improvement in the distance the Roger On can handle in comparison to the Roger Select? I've personally noticed the Roger select's clip and neck loop setup to be difficult to use and prone to fail during active environments (like if hiking). Could you show all the different attachment mechanisms for the Roger On? Is it possible to select the direction of the audio in table mode from the device like the Roger select or can you only do that in app?
Judging from its manual, On behaves the same as Select - when there's more than one, all but first one go into presenter mode. Also, I didn't see any option to pick mic/beams on the device. So, unless they made it absolutely better in terms of mics, I don't see much improvement over Select. Ok you can lock it in some mic mode. App doesn't bring anything THAT useful, and yeah, not having buttons on the device for picking beams isn't appealing to me. I have pen (regular, 2nd hand from ebay) and select iN (new), and select is much much more superior in sound quality and ability to catch the sound you want. But leaning over and one touch and you have focus on another group around the table VS looking for a phone, opening the app, dying of waiting if it's similar to myphonak app - that sentence you wanted to catch is gone with the wind long time ago... reaching towards the middle of the table and clicking and those lights chaning onto who you want to hear better - actually is very very helpful because then your speaker gets very clear information that you're trying to hear them better. It ends being a nice gesture, and reminds them to speak louder/clearly/come closer - very very helpful :D I think gadget is superior to old one if it gives you more speed to react - so, autosense vs clicking buttons (and remembering options), autoconnect vs clicking buttons, but needing phone in order to choose beams looks like two steps back compared to what we already have on the market (select). It would be nice of dr cliff if he does some objective tests / recordings of demonstration of listening capabilities and do the comparison with the select.
@@DrCliffAuD are you 100% sure eg did you test? Because user manual says they won't be in table mode, but presenter, like select and pen do (they work so that first one is table, others are in presenter/lapel mode)... Unless I misread something whilst reading the manual.
@@DrCliffAuD thanks for double checking... It seems that phonak doesn't want us to make a network of other mics in table mode as long as they have table mic ii on offer. Pity. It is probably different tech solution involved though.
Hi there. I was wondering if you had any suggestion/advice as to which one is better: the Roger ON or Roger Table Mic II? I've got the Widex Moment, can I use the Roger ON? I mostly need it for teaching in a classroom so that I can hear them speaking while they're wearing their masks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dr Cliff I would like to know if it is compatible with Med-El sonnet2? Do I need to purchase Roger X as well as Roger ON ? Will Roger X fit to Sonnet 2 ?

My old oticon streamer pro was my instrument for my old oticon hearing aids, the roger X, and the roger pen. Appreciate any suggestions on this issue. I noticed the newer oticon Connect Clip does not have a three prong connection port for the roger X reciever
Dr. Cliff's usual great video. Problems I have are with Phonak; cost & appearance. The Roger devices are far too conspicuous. You're carrying or wearing an obvious device that says" I'm wearing hearing aids." I've worn Paradise hearing aids for several years and most people are unaware of that fact. Why not make such a device that looks like a real pen, jewelry, or other commonplace wearable?
This video was informative! I really liked how that works! I also like that there’s an app that shows battery life! Now I wish I had something like that for my Roger Select iN! I have AB Sky M90 CI’s and I found out that the Roger ON iN is compatible with them! Also for the standard Roger ON (the one without the iN) does the boot work with the first generation ComPilot? I heard you mention ComPilot 2 but what about the first generation? It would be good to know for those that don’t want to upgrade their equipment.
Yes, the Roger ON is compatible with your AB SKY M90 CIs. The Roger ON is also compatible with the first generation ComPilot with the Roger X receiver.
Great video as usual! I love the suggestion to add the telecoil to the Roger On. I am bimodal, AB Naida CI waiting for my Marvel CI upgrade and receiving a Lumity HA to try next week. How does the Roger On work for bimodal situation? Can it pair with both simultaneously?
How much does it cost to turn a Roger On iN on? Does a generic Bluetooth directional microphone work with a Phonak Life? I understand it would not have a dedicated app and all the cool features of Roger On iN.
I am getting a demo of the newest Roger On. So far happiest with the table and presenter modes. What is the intended or ideal distance for pointing mode?
I have Roger Select device and Phonak Paradise. I wonder does Pointing Mode 2.0 make difference and make Roger On complementary to Roger Select. Can I give them (Roger On + Roger Select) to two different person in presenter modes and still hear them simultaneously?
To my knowledge, you can't tether the Roger ON and Roger Select to use simultaneously. Pointing mode is personally my favorite feature of the Roger ON.

Depending on what device you are streaming from, you can switch your audio to Mono. This would be done from the streaming device, not the CI or hearing aid.

Dr Cliff, I hope this message finds you. I have the Phonak Paradise HA and a Thinklab stethoscope. If I purchase the Roger On IN will this be compatible so that I can bluetooth sounds from my stethoscope to my HA? If so do you have any advice or experience with doing this? Thank you 😊
Do you know if older Roger devices will get a firmware update soon to be able to control them via the My Roger Mic app? Like particularly controlling Roger select direction selection or the Roger Pen mode using the mobile app.
Dr. Cliff, can you use the Roger On as a front microphone for being hands free on my phone? Using the hearing aid mic, people say my audio is not as loud and the hearing aid mic pics up all the noise in the room. So thinking my Roger On could work as a better option to being hands free. Not sure how one would set that up to work that way. Would also like to somehow set it up with my Cisco phone at work that would really be helpful to be hands free with my work phone.
I have my Roger On iN connected to my work HP laptop via a RCA audio cable to the an HP docking station. I use it for two way communications via Microsoft Teams all the time and people hear me quite well.
Hi Dr Cliff, I have just bought a P90 (13t) and a CROS P. I a roger X type3, a Roger Select and a Roger pen mic 1.1. I was told I would need another Roger X type3 and my provider will need an "installer". Why would I need (2) Roger X type 3's. My CROS shouldn't need a roger license intiated into it because it'll be shut off when I am streaming --won't it?
1. Does this means, Roger On is combining TV connector, Roger Select, Roger Touchscreen and Roger Pen all together? Buying Roger On is enough for me to do everything? 2. How's the price? Is Roger On more expensive than Roger Select?
Hi Dr Cliff Very helpful review! Thank you. I currently use a Roger In Pen with my Marvels and it's great. Other than the app, is it worth the money to upgrade? Also a review on Phonaks My Call to Trxt app would be great. Thanks again for your helpful videos.
Cliff, you missed the boat by poo pooing the ability to hook up a "radio". Do you know what happens when your older patients retire? They travel. And when you travel with tours they hand you a little radio and you can hear your guide. Everyone else plugs in their headphones and is happy. Those of us with hearing aids are screwed. Unless you have a device like this. Then you plug in your radio to the Rodger on and you hear directly. My trip to Italy was done via a pair of rexton hearing aids that had a streamer with that little 3.5 mm jack and I almost cried at being able to hear like every one else. Two years later with oticons in Ireland it was a nightmare. I missed so much of that expensive tour bc oticon didn't see fit to add that jack to their streamer. So don't sell that feature short. I'm literally buying it for that and that alone
You know, my hearing aids have telecoil, but I have NEVER been in any public place that has telecoil streaming...guess it's too expensive for them to install.
My left ear completely deaf and right hear 50% able to hear. Plz advice which brand suit me better, phonak or this one or any other brand.plz. I try signia, but the device so bad.
My son has the phone marvel sky hearing aides and it came with a clip on microphone. How do you think the remote would compare to a Roger as far as clarity goes.
Good question. I currently use a Signia Easytek neckloop with a tv transmitter and it does send stereo sound to my Signia hearing aids. If the roger can do the same that would be great.
I have my Roger On iN connected to my work HP laptop via a RCA audio cable to the an HP docking station. I use it for two way communications via Microsoft Teams all the time and people hear me quite well. I also connect to my home PC using a USB-C connector to the Roger and listen to videos such as this one. However, it does not look like the microphones work for USB-C connection. My only problem with the Roger is that when you get out of range, it beeps incessantly with the program change beeps.
Dr Cliffe the Roger select used to make you look like Iron Man on with all the lights going, clearly Phonak are moving away from the device as a fashion accessory!
i have this device, woorks well at home, in the car etc. but at parties the backgroundnoise also gets directed to my ears and i have to turn it off again
For the price paid, the version I received does not include the dock. That's kind of absurd. Also, Phonak has lost the plot with regard to cost in general. Sadly I'm a die hard Phonak person, having switched from Resound ITEs to Phonak BTEs nearly 20 years ago.
Great video! I have a Phonic Audio Paradise and still find the need for an assisted device to help me during meetings, so have been considering the Roger On. A few questions.... How would this help with a stage production in a small, community theatre that doesn't have telecoil capabilities? Do I need to have my audiologist install the microphone in my hearing aids, or is it just a software addition? Thanks so much!
How does this device compare to the PockeTalker assisted listening device from Williamson in one criteria i.e quality and ease of conversation. At less than 200$ the Pocket talker has been my preferred option so far. Thanks for your great videos
Question I have is there a slight delay in the word spoken and the sound entering the hearing aid? I have listened to another receiver and there is a half second delay, hard to hear clearly.
What if I decide to upgrade hearing aids in the future, would it be possible to transfer the roger X receivers already installed on my phonak Marvel over to the paradise or the KS-10 hearing aids?
Oh my god, what a waterfall of information. You are speaking to fast and don't breath in between ;-). Please speak next time on a lower speed, so people can absorb the information in a better way.
@gordonaramsay6648 Re. your comment - you can slow down the speech by going to the RUclips settings icon at the bottom of the video and changing the playback speed. Also, you can activate subtitles/transcript by clicking on the CC at the bottom of the video.

A very helpful review.
Questions:
Can you use multiple Roger On devices in table mode like a table mic 2 or will it only work in presenter mode like the Roger select?
It ends being a nice gesture, and reminds them to speak louder/clearly/come closer - very very helpful :D
I think gadget is superior to old one if it gives you more speed to react - so, autosense vs clicking buttons (and remembering options), autoconnect vs clicking buttons, but needing phone in order to choose beams looks like two steps back compared to what we already have on the market (select).
It would be nice of dr cliff if he does some objective tests / recordings of demonstration of listening capabilities and do the comparison with the select.
@@inesucrvenom I would definitely love to see the objective tests, or even double blind subjective tests.
@@DrCliffAuD are you 100% sure eg did you test? Because user manual says they won't be in table mode, but presenter, like select and pen do (they work so that first one is table, others are in presenter/lapel mode)... Unless I misread something whilst reading the manual.
Sorry, you are correct, you can use multiple Table Mics along with at Roger ON, but not multiple Roger ON devices in Table Mode.
@@DrCliffAuD thanks for double checking... It seems that phonak doesn't want us to make a network of other mics in table mode as long as they have table mic ii on offer. Pity. It is probably different tech solution involved though.
Problem is as soon as you connect a toslink cable the TV speakers stop working.
Hello Doc. Is that Roger mic is Alexa compatible? Or do you know any proscription hearing aids with Alexa compatible?
Are either of the Roger On accessories clip-on? I've noticed that my other medical professionals are much more willing to clip on a device (like my Resound Multi Mic) rather than talk into my iPhone.
Yes they are!
Just test driving the rogers on do you still think it is the best with my marvel hearing aids
Hi Dr Cliff
I would like to know if it is compatible with Med-El sonnet2? Do I need to purchase Roger X as well as Roger ON ? Will Roger X fit to Sonnet 2 ?
Dr. Cliff, I have the roger pen and roger x receiver. I now wear oticon exceed 3 hearing aids. What instrument can I connect the roger X to the new hearing aids? My old oticon streamer pro was my instrument for my old oticon hearing aids, the roger X, and the roger pen. Appreciate any suggestions on this issue. I noticed the newer oticon Connect Clip does not have a three prong connection port for the roger X reciever
I'm aware that this is an old video, but my VA provider only gives us the phonak partner mic is there a comparison between the two of them
How do I set up a Roger Network to use my Roger Select and Roger On to have them working together with my Phonak Paradise 90 battery hearing aids?
Have your hearing care professional set it up to do so. It can br complicated.
Hi Dr. Chiff. Both my wife and I wear Phonak hearing aids (bilateral). Can we use a single Roger On to link with both of us? Thanks.
How much does it cost to turn a Roger On iN on? Does a generic Bluetooth directional microphone work with a Phonak Life? I understand it would not have a dedicated app and all the cool features of Roger On iN.
Question: Can Roger devices be used with BiCROS hearing aids?
I am getting a demo of the newest Roger On. So far happiest with the table and presenter modes. What is the intended or ideal distance for pointing mode?
I have Roger Select device and Phonak Paradise. I wonder does Pointing Mode 2.0 make difference and make Roger On complementary to Roger Select. Can I give them (Roger On + Roger Select) to two different person in presenter modes and still hear them simultaneously?
To my knowledge, you can't tether the Roger ON and Roger Select to use simultaneously. Pointing mode is personally my favorite feature of the Roger ON.
@@DrCliffAuD, thanks! I also think that pointing mode is most useful function of its.
Does this work with the newer Lumity models?
I have Signia 7x hearing aids. Is it compatible with Roger ON or Roger On iN? Thanks.
Hello, I am a mother searching for microphone systems for my son with hearing loss in a classroom setting. Your videos are really helpful, so that I quickly decided to subscribe your channel. Have you made any videos comparing EduMic and Roger on? Thanks!
Edumic is probably more appropriate. The school should be paying for it.
Has any one used this. Does the sound of your own voice coming through the roger and your hearing aids at the same time distracting?
Hi Cliff, so I have a challenge in my case, I have a Marvel CI on Left and a Marvel hearing aid on right, I have good low frequency hearing on hearing aid but high frequency on CI side and need both to hear well. so is there a way to set device to mono? its real issue when streaming as well as sometimes the sound is only on left channel because of how it was recorded or edited.
Depending on what device you are streaming from, you can switch your audio to Mono. This would be done from the streaming device, not the CI or hearing aid.
Hi Dr Cliff, I have 2 pairs of Phonak Marvel aids, M30-T and M90-R. Roger On iN is paired with M30 aids. Can I connect the same Roger ON iN to M90 aids as well? I would like it to connect to either pair I choose to wear. is it possible at all? Thanks
Are these microphones tied to one HA or Phone only or can 2 people share the same microphone at the same time?
I have Widex Evoke 440 hearing aids. Would they be compatible with the Roger On? Thanks, Eve
How MAH power battery roger on have installed inside?
Dr Cliff, I hope this message finds you. I have the Phonak Paradise HA and a Thinklab stethoscope. If I purchase the Roger On IN will this be compatible so that I can bluetooth sounds from my stethoscope to my HA? If so do you have any advice or experience with doing this? Thank you 😊
Do you know if older Roger devices will get a firmware update soon to be able to control them via the My Roger Mic app? Like particularly controlling Roger select direction selection or the Roger Pen mode using the mobile app.
I doubt it, but nothing is impossible
I've been trying to google this but I can't seem to understand. What would I need if I wanted to connect this to an oticon more?
How can I switch between several mics, when having having classes at college?
does it use an inductive link (like with tv connector)?
No. It uses a form of Bluetooth.
Hi Dr Cliff,
I have just bought a P90 (13t) and a CROS P.
You don't. You only need one.
1. Does this means, Roger On is combining TV connector, Roger Select, Roger Touchscreen and Roger Pen all together? Buying Roger On is enough for me to do everything?
2. How's the price? Is Roger On more expensive than Roger Select?
#1. Pretty much yes. #2. They are approximately the same price.
Dr Cliff, i already have the Roger select, is it worth upgrading?
If you want the Pointing function and the ability to use App controls.
Hi Dr Cliff
Very helpful review!
Hi Dr. Cliff, How much it will cost? and can you program it for me online remotely? I just got fitted with KS10.0.
thank you.
My left ear completely deaf and right hear 50% able to hear. Plz advice which brand suit me better, phonak or this one or any other brand.plz. I try signia, but the device so bad.
does roger x works well on zoom?
Could you do a review of the lively hearing aids being advertised
How much does it cost?
My son has the phone marvel sky hearing aides and it came with a clip on microphone. How do you think the remote would compare to a Roger as far as clarity goes.
Clarity will be similar, but you can get this clarity in multiple situations that you could have access to with the clip on microphone alone.
can you hear sounds in stereo with this device? Thanks in advance.
Good question. I currently use a Signia Easytek neckloop with a tv transmitter and it does send stereo sound to my Signia hearing aids. If the roger can do the same that would be great.
Yes, stereo sound.
Thanks doctor. Now getting money to buy it is the issue.
If I connect this to a laptop PC, does it allow two way communications in the same way phone streaming directly to my HAs does?
No, it does not.
Dr Cliffe the Roger select used to make you look like Iron Man on with all the lights going, clearly Phonak are moving away from the device as a fashion accessory!
hOLA
HABLA De como emparejar pilot air ii phonak a la computadora POR
How about a way to connect to android cell phones that won't pair to hearing aids.
Yeah, might need to get a new phone.
i have this device, woorks well at home, in the car etc. but at parties the backgroundnoise also gets directed to my ears and i have to turn it off again
Would love to
For the price paid, the version I received does not include the dock.
The Roger ON is in a different category. I have a detailed review of the PocketTalker on my channel as well. Love the PT myself.
Yes, easy to transfer.
@@DrCliffAuD great to hear, thanks for your quick response!
Have some company build roger cel phone easy to have mike phones placed for different directions wold be very a discreet.
I disagree with you..roger pen is the best really I feel so sorry that I took roger on and I was hasty with my decision 😢
Sorry in nederlands aub
😪
Oh my god, what a waterfall of information. You are speaking to fast and don't breath in between ;-). Please speak next time on a lower speed, so people can absorb the information in a better way.
@gordonaramsay6648 Re. your comment - you can slow down the speech by going to the RUclips settings icon at the bottom of the video and changing the playback speed. Also, you can activate subtitles/transcript by clicking on the CC at the bottom of the video.
