This looks so delicious. I’m puertorican and this is also a known dish in our household we cook it almost the same. My mom used to fry yellow plantains and a slice of avocado on the side, we also used corn too. Our Caribbean food are so similar. 😋😀
Hello Janet welcome home and I am so glad you've found me. I appreciate your kindness and support, sister. I am doing my best to represent. Love you sis.
You put to mind my mother, who come from Moores Island Abaco. You have the real old school teaching of the elders when it comes to old fashion bahamian meals prepared to the way we were accustomed to. Thanks 😊🙏 God bless an keep up the great passion you have!!
Happy Sunday Melda, I made this yesterday following your recipe and it came out great. Ate it with white rice yesterday. And I had some leftover cornbeef so I ate it with yellow grits this morning. As a newbie in the cooking game, I appreciate your videos. Thank you!

Grew up with this 😍😍😍😍. One of my favourite alone with macaroni pie 😩😩😩😩. My dad's mother ( my grandmother) is bahamian from inagua district , came to canada is 1945 💖😁. Momz is a white lady and makes blesssed rice N peas 😍
Boy...I remember my time with corned beef. I can't deal with it anymore, but this video sure brings back memories! Along with potatoes, I loved mines with cabbage. 🥬 Then on top of that, the leftovers (hotcake) was the best! #goodSTUFF 😀😀😀😀
I love your videos, but this doesn't seem like the traditional Bahamian way. You should have fried your tomato paste down with the herbs. Even better, to have a better sauce texture WITHOUT using water, I use the bottle crushed tomatoes with the tomato paste , then I add my corned beef. But nice video. I must try the old fashioned way with the cabbage strips. Caribbean food or nothing! 😋🤤
@@Melda242 You're very welcome my lady. I just actually stumbled across your channel and fell in love with it. I just discovered a passion for cooking and baking; then unfortunately, my tank was stolen during lockdown. Was using a portable gas stove, but just got a small tank yesterday. Wish you could invite me to join you on one of your videos. I just can't seem to get peas n rice right 🥴 It's usually an epic fail. But thank you so much for trying to keep our culture alive. May God richly bless you ❣️💕
Ok. Thank you for watching my friend. Mommy said that it will balance the salt content, but you could leave it out if you want. My recipes are not Gospel feel free to add multiple subtract or divide. Work your pot, Latoya!
