Fast forward to 2024-2025 and two new IMAX screens opened in Australia, one in Gold Coast and one in Canberra. Unfortunately these IMAX cinemas are not 1:43:1 like Melbourne and Sydney...
I live at Australia, NSW for most of my childhood and every time my parents drove through darling harbour, we would see this weird building that is in Construction. Now I am currently in Cambodia visiting my family but as soon as I found out that IMAX Sydney reopened I knew I had to go back to check it out . Great video keep up the good work 👍
This is the ultimate youtube arc. I remember seeing your old vlog from years ago and now that's it reopened you made another video, great. Was the aspect ratio of Oppenheimer in 1:43? I couldn't 100% tell from the footage in this vlog. they're showing some nolan stuff btw, check it out and get your tickets before they announce it, cuz it'll sell quick. Cheers mate!
Yep, it was in 1.43:1 as they were using dual laser projectors. And I just got Interstellar tickets so I can rewatch it properly this time (last time I watched it was in Melbourne, when the 15/70 projector fvked up).
@@MarkTDDPersonal I was also at that screening when it broke. Was yours the one where it broke during the opening logos? I’m hoping to see it in 1570 one day.
Honestly, other than the projection format/quality, there really wasn't much difference between the Dual Laser and 15/70 screenings. Sound was equally loud on both screenings, and aspect ratio was 1.43:1 for IMAX sequences. Though Vaughan's screen was slightly smaller in comparison to Sydney (though in Vaughan, we sat around the middle rows; Sydney, we sat at the near-back). If I had the choice, I'll choose 15/70mm (which is available in Melbourne), but honestly I'd stay in Sydney unless I had a flight voucher.
Here from Reddit. Thanks for this vid!

@@ClarkTeddlesMine broke during the wormhole scene.
@@MarkTDDPersonal ah yes I heard about that screening. Their print needs a re-splicing in some places.
Nice, thanks for the coverage man
IMAX moviegoers on Sydney, Rejoice!
Would have been interesting if you spend some words about the comparison to your 1570 screening in Canada compared to this in Sydney with laser
