2:09 I bet that is one of the main reasons Grievous hates droids and being called one. He would especially hate the fact that he would be guarded by droids that were awfully similar to the ones that terrorised his people.
You didn't mention the IG 86 which Im pretty sure a there were quite a few of the IG 86 made. The IG 11 might be a IG 86 with new memory circuits and maybe that's whys he doesn't match the name of the previous units.
Since his consciousness was uploaded into the 2nd Death Star, it’d be really cool if they found IG-88’s lifeless body and took the part they needed from him. There’s also one of IG-88’s bodies in the ugnaught’s room on cloud city. It may be a little far fetched that it would still be there after so long, but maybe they salvaged his parts because he was so rare. IG-88 is my favorite bounty hunter and i’m really hoping he at least gets brought up. Literally wearing an IG-88 sweater while I type this.
I really do love how explicitly "Terminator"-esque Jon Favreau made IG-11, and I how we get to see two IG models (or an IG model verses another type of killer droid, like a new model of Darktrooper) fight it out with each other later in season 3 to hammer that comparison home even more. Or just have another IG model join Din Djarin on his quest after a scuffle so it will fill; the role of IG-11, needing to learn "the value of organic life" from scratch just like IG-11 did.
Ever since his first appearance on screen I have wondered what in the hell kind of robot/droid he is & where he was manufactured. Also, as an eight year old seeing Star Wars in the theater I thought the stormtroopers were robots and thought that it said "OIL" on their backs (so when they need more oil the technician knows where to put it). I thought they would get rusty like the Tin Man in The Wizard Of Oz if they weren't kept well lubricated.
I feel like an IG tv series would, if done right, be an amazing show that could help tie the Disney stuff together and get more hardcore fans back into Disney Star wars
The episode came out and the whole IG-11 repair subplot was kinda useless since they didn't restore him. But at least R5 finally had to pull his weight after fainting back with Owen and Luke.
Given Filoni's penchant for using extended universe stuff the way he does, my gut says we'll see his take on KOTOR 2 cut content. The HK Droid factory story could be modified for the purpose of obtaining the IG part.

So, hear me out, if his memory unit was damaged (thus ... seems it default to basic imprint of the manufacturer's code when reactivated?? back to assassin's protocol) ... that means that the IG-11 unit Din knew is gone... he was an amalgamation of the experiences he had and re-learning with Kuiil. If we are not able to replicate that... even if he gets hold on a compatible memory unit, he will only get the IG-11 body back... not its personality. It would be better if the memory unit was still intact... that way the quest could be finding an appropriate body for IG-11 mind... being the body just a husk that could be discarded (leaving the original on the monument). Imagine installing the IG-11 memory unit to... say... a Dark Trooper.
This things are creepy even on a pic. I can imagine what happened. I hope they are just Legends. Or will be destroyed some time later. I think IG-11 isn't that bad. Too bad there are no parts. It could help. Factory would be good location. May the Force be with you too. See you soon :)
If they used miniaturized tractor beam fields they could mimick force some force abilities. There are also instances where kyber crystals/ force spirit infused objects could be used as Droid a.i cores/power sources and allow them to touch the force.

I do think its funny that the assassin droids killed their creators but still listen to them by self destructing if they cant win.
Quite cool to see that Mando and IG-11 will end up with a reunion. One of the best episodes of season one where with those two together.

Yes, I remember in the story how IG-88 was messing with the Emperor by fighting against the Force and kept trying to close the lift doors on him.

IGs are pretty dang stupid if they honestly thought that destroying any methods of reconstruction/self repair was a good idea.
