- In this video you'll discover the nootropic benefits of Quercetin. Including why we use Quercetin as a nootropic, for COVID-19 recovery, recommended dosage, side effects and clinical research.
Quercetin is one of the most abundant flavonoids present in over twenty plant and fruit categories.
As a potent anti-inflammatory, Quercetin is used to lower blood pressure, control obesity, lower cholesterol, and protect against heart attacks and stroke.
Studies show that Quercetin can inhibit Aβ aggregation, and tau phosphorylation. And inhibit acetylcholinesterase which in turn increases acetylcholine levels.
As a nootropic, Quercetin improves memory by boosting mitochondrial function and decreasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. And protects against brain toxicity caused by heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and tungsten.
Quercetin has also recently been found to be beneficial in reducing the symptoms of COVID-19. A study conducted in China found Quercetin bound with the spike protein in the coronavirus, reducing its ability to infect cells.
Quercetin users report that if infected with COVID-19, using Quercetin with Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and zinc made breathing easier, and helped them recover faster.
Many neurohackers using Quercetin report a dramatic improvement in seasonal allergy symptoms. And after coming down with a cold, Quercetin helped reduce cold symptoms faster.
NOTE: if you are about to get any one of the COVID-19 vaccines you should discontinue using Quercetin two weeks prior to your first dose. And do NOT use Quercetin after you have been vaccinated because it could reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.
Quercetin also has the unique ability to increase claudin-4 which seals Tight Junctions and healing a leaky gut or leaky blood-brain barrier.
Recommended dosage of Quercetin is 500 mg up to twice per day.
Quercetin dosages of 1,000 mg, and on the advice of your doctor, up to 3,000 mg per day to reduce COVID-19 symptoms. Note that this is short-term use only at such elevated dosages.

I've suffered from hay fever and severe sinus. Since taking it, I don't know what sinus is. Can't believe I've waited this long to take it!
I know, right? Quercetin is amazing for that kind of thing.
I managed to treat a uti with it without any antibiotics whatsoever. Took high dose at first sign and followed up with the same dose couple of times. It worked like magic. Great supplement 💯👍
Interesting! here I am holding back on the Q until "flu season" again because it's expensive, but I've been plagued in the past with uti's and will keep this in mind.
I love doublewoods supplements. The cool thing is bromelain also inhibits bradykinin storms. So if you are using quercetin for covid 19 your getting a 2 for 1
I’ve been taking this since before last Christmas and I haven’t had to use my inhalers for my asthma since then!
I've been using quercetin with bromelain for a while now. It helps me with rheumatoid arthritis. This has been very interesting to watch, thankyou.👍
Thanks for sharing Lynette!
Need an effective arthritis treatment
I'll have to recommend this to my dad, he suffers from pollen allergies a lot. Too bad i always get weird looks when i recommend nootropics, people always think I'm acting as if I'm a doctor while i honestly just try to help. Though I get it, I just think it's sad that people aren't as open to it
Nootropic supplements are beginning to go mainstream. And not just for us biohackers anymore. I'll take a little of the credit for that. But CB, I've also found that sometimes we need to wait for people to ask for help. Esp. those close to us like family members whom we want to help above all else.
@@NootropicsExpert i do think you've played a huge part in sharing and researching the foundational knowledge about nootropics, i wouldn't even be surprised if Derek from mpmd watches this channel. So much respect for that, and i mean that. Also thank you for the advice, it is indeed better to keep the initiative in the hands of other people. You can't change someone, but you can inspire them to change. And the same goes for nootropics
I can relate. Giving advice I've gotten from You Tube, or anywhere else on the internet, gets me the same reaction. They just ask me "do you believe everything you hear on the internet?" If I didn't give a shit about anyone but myself, I wouldn't share. I've all but given up on family and friends that won't believe anything unless a traditionally trained, pharmaceutical company influenced MD says it.
I love how he doesn't care about saying COVID like other people online.
Levi, I found out about Quercetin from my primary doctor early in the pandemic when he told me he was using it for his COVID patients. The two that refused to use Quercetin passed away from the virus.
Thank you for this video. I never knew that queretin did so much.
Sam, I'd never heard of Quercetin either until a few months ago. My doctor told me about it when I asked him what he was using it to cure his COVID patients. And when I heard that I just had to look into it.
More informative then D.r. Ber.g on this subject. Appreciate it!
I just started taking Quercetin two days ago and I knew some of the benefits but all of this is just the icing on the cake! I also just so happened to take the Double Wood brand that you mentioned 😁
Good choice!
I also really appreciate how he even recommends a brand as other people don't for whatever reason. Again, thank you!
Levi, I only recommend what I use myself.
Just read the book "Drop Acid." Quercetin is recommended to lower uric acid and I've just started it. So many good things it does
Quercetin is a potent supplement.
Excellent presentation of quercetin. I found myself rewinding and rewinding the video to catch all of the details. Thank You 👍
Glad it was helpful Jack! Thanks.
Same here! Love how he has it broken out by chapters.
Thank you for creating this video and sharing this valuable info on quercetin. This sounds like a great game-changer for homeopathic treatments 🙏
I am convinced I have PCOS. I just started today with Quercetin. I hope this will help me. (I also have leaky gut, Lyme diseases and several autoimmune diseases).
take a heaped tea spoon of slippery elm bark powder in a glass of warm water 15mins before food ,it takes about ten days to heal the holes in the gut and that will end the auto immune conditions , ebay quercertin and bromelain 1500mg you also need zinc 50mg and a 1000mg caps vit c when you take quercertin, bromelain, zinc and vit c you are making sure the quercertin can do its job,its highly effective at stopping the coronavirus from entering the cell but it needs the other stuff to work properly, ivermectin is synthetic quercertin,i think the natural version will be best,if you know anyone with long covid the dose is 18mg ivm and 50mg zinc taken for 4 days ina row ,thats the cure, i think the preventative route is the best way,
Thank you for sharing your wisdom 🙏 listening from Ireland ❤☘
Sounds amazing! Must try it.
I like the new background. Great video!
I just bought quercetin! Great video, thanks!!
Thanks! The background goes well with the title of the channel :)
Glad you like it Hamid! Thanks.
Great supplement for ASD children, especially with leaky gut and neurotoxicity.
Quercetin has indeed to been proven to heal a leaky gut.
Quercetin works as a ionaphore by facilitatating zinc intacellularly which inhibits viral replication, in a linear dose fashion
That us not the way Quercetin works with zinc. It helps deliver zinc into cells. So it is not upsetting the zinc/copper balance.
Wow! Just when I thought you covered all the essentials. 😁👍
More to come!
Fantastic content David thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Emma! Thank you.
Thank you, so much, for your time!
Glad it was helpful!
This was so informative 👏 thank you!!!
Always amazing David, helpful information ✌️ thank you for sharing 👌
My pleasure RS! Thank you.
I've been using Quercitin for awhile for autoimmune issues from Mast cell activation(Mcas). I also take histimine blockers.
Did it help you with your autoimmune disease?
Quercetin works great for my allergic rhinitis
TY
Nootropics need to go mainstream.
They are starting to go mainstream. I've been talking about them for years and a few of the big supplement companies are now putting out product that they are labeling as a "nootropic". That started happening only in the last year or so.
Your the man!
I have lym disease! Very painfull , no cure! Someone recommended quercetin, just revided my bottle today💕
Great videos thank you
Thank you!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks my friend !
You are more than welcome Theo.
Thank you!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are welcome!
Thanks for the dosage info, I need to reduce my daily dose!.
Yes, 1,000 mg per day is the maximum safe dose for Quercetin.
Awesome!
Thanks!
excellent review
Thank you Charles.
Started quercetin a week ago.
I’ve been using NOW Quercetin/Bromelain 800mg/165mg, and Life Extentions. VitaminC-Bio-Quercetin Phytosome. I think I’ve got this covered.
Love this channel, 👍!
Thanks JayeBird.
Thanks👍👍
Welcome 👍
Thank you!!! Good information!!! 🙌🙌
Glad it was helpful! Thanks.
Does it work if you randomly use it? Or do you have to keep a routine dose in order for it to work? Thanks so much for your vid..awsome!
Thanks Dr Tomen for another great video on Quercetin. I am from old and abroad Med School. We learned Quercetin many years ago. I would like to hear your opinion about my preparing Quercetin. I make tincture with vodka and peels from red onions.
Luba, it should work because Quercetin is soluble in alcohol.
@@NootropicsExpert Thanks Dr Tomen and continue your great job.
Very informative! Thank you 🙏 should you take it with food?
James, good question and food containing healthy fats will likely increase the bioavailability of Quercetin. But some researchers are saying we need to be careful about how much we boost the bioavailability of this compound because of its strength and how your gut metabolizes it for our body and brain to get the benefit from it. www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/9/2/111
😊👍🏿
You have an excellent series, altho some of the words are hard to understand for me.
Felix, there is a link below the video that will take you to the original transcript for this video. That article also has links through to a glossary for words that are new to you or hard to understand.
i just found your channel - researching a few what I'd consider supplements - so this term "nootropics" is fairly new to me. What makes something a nootropic? i just purchased quercitin for a histamine reaction. I'm binging your videos & really finding them to be interesting, informative, helpful & insightful... but I'm going down a rabbit hole I fear. 😅 I'll be stuck here for hours!
Dr. Corneliu Giurgea coined the term “nootropic” in 1972. It is derived from the Greek nous (“mind”) and trepein (to bend).
Dr. Giurgea gave us a list of five criteria that a substance must have to be considered a ‘true’ nootropic.
A true nootropic:
- Enhances memory and the ability to learn
- Assists brain function under disruptive conditions such as lack of oxygen and electroconvulsive shock
- Protects the brain from chemical and physical toxins like anticholinergic drugs and barbiturates
- Increases natural cognitive processes
- Must be non-toxic to humans, nor stimulate or depress the brain
can it be taken with blood thinners like pradaxda?
Red wine? Say no more!
Quercetin helps zinc to get in cell on spike part. Therefore blocking virus to do same.
Absorption of zinc is protein related.
500 mg quercetin + 7 mg zinc(15 mg clinical)
Bromelain helps too.
Taking after that( hour or more)
5000 IU + 200 mcg K2 + Mg + fatty food + A + E.
I am very interested in speaking to you. Just ran across this video this morning.
Michelle, I offer Personal Consultations and here is a link to my calendar: calendly.com/davidtomen/60min
I simmered the skins and white pithy parts of two organic grapefruits and 5 lemons for three hours in two and 1/2 lts of clean water. Strain and refrigerate. Take two tbs 2x per day. Take with food. David what do you think of this recipe?
Sandy, it sounds like it tastes good!
@@NootropicsExpert No actually it really could use a sweetener, and it will double you over on an empty stomach. Powerful stuff!
Can it have effect on neuroinflammation? How long to stop it in order to reintroduce again? Assuming that I take 500mg once a day. Thank you very much.
EDIT: Is it possible that evening dose could be diuretic?
Ivan, Quercetin, will begin working on inflammation the first time you take it. And will continue to work for as long as you take it. 500 mg pre day of Quercetin is an effective dose for most people.
And it is not a diuretic as far as I can tell.
Do you find citrus bioflavonoids to be helpful?
James, they have a lot of science backing their use. I just haven't go around to researching them yet.
Thanks for this excellent video. Can you do a video on Lions mane mushrooms?

@@NootropicsExpert thank you
Which is better to take for repairing leaky gut and blood brain barrier, quercetin or reservatrol? And which is a better antioxidant and more bio available?
Quercetin is a better option. And have you seen my video on healing a leaky brain? Because the same goes for healing a leaky gut. ruclips.net/video/r38OSqyPvyM/видео.html
Why Double Wood brand over Nootropics Depot?
Damien, I know the couple who own Double Wood Supplements and trust what's in their supplements. I don't know the guys who own Nootropics Depot and they've never reached out to me.
Do you have any videos or recommendations for headaches and migraine?
Hassain, not specifically for migraines. I know I've mentioned migraines in a couple of videos but can't recall which ones.
Go to nootropicsexpert.com and use the search function top right of the main menu. Search for the keyword "migraine" and see what turns up. it'll take some reading but you'll find a couple of supplements that should help.
do you have metal fillings in your teeth
Have you see quercetin being used to lower cortisol levels? … might be good for anxiety sufferers like me.
Matthew, there are some animal studies showing Quercetin helps lower cortisol levels. But nothing with humans yet and we're not sure of the dosage needed to affect cortisol.
Hi doc,
What if I start taking Quercetin Dihydrate w/bromelain 500mg twice day for alopecia areta?? Any recommendations?
Quercetin is a JAK3 inhibitor as is Berberine and there are plenty of anecdotal reports that Berberine supports hair regrowth. I have been using both and have plenty of hair. So it must work.
Thank you for sharing this information
I want to know if I take QUERCETIN
And I’m on Xarelto is it dangerous?
There is no published contraindication so not that I know of.
any good stack for helping with Parkinson's desease?
Daniel, try Pine Bark Extract, N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC), Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALCAR) and possibly Mucuna Pruriens extract (L-DOPA).
@@NootropicsExpert Thank you! I will look into these.
Will quercetin di hydrate be effective ???
Craig, on its own quercetin dihydrate will not likely be effective because your system can't absorb it. That form of Quercetin is soluble in alcohol and not water.
Can you use quercetin every day? I thought I heard you say to only use it for 12 weeks at most?
Mark, it is safe to use 500 mg Quercetin twice per day for as long as you need it.
The thing is most supplement studies are no longer than 12 weeks because no one want to pay for longer studies. So we have no clinical proof that you can only use something like Quercetin for a limited time. When someone says to not take something any longer than 12 weeks its because they're covering their own butt.
In my opinion, if you find something that works then keep on using it until it doesn't. Get your labs done a couple of times per year to check kidney and liver health. And it there is no problem then you have your answer.
Hi, I tried the link you added for your free download, it didn't work. Ditto for your other book. Thanks.
William, sorry but there was a typo in the link which I just updated. Thanks for the heads-up. Here is the correct link: nootropicsexpert.com/free-download
Question. When you recommended using for no more than 12 weeks, is that for higher doses to fight an infection or virus?
Can we use daily if kept under 1000 mg?
Can we use if we take NAC daily?
Kristine the thing is we don't have any clinical studies showing using ANY supplement longer than 12 weeks is safe. Primarily because no one want to pay for a longer duration study.
On the other hand there is no evidence that it is unsafe to use 1000 mg Quercetin daily for as long as you find it useful. And if you're worried about your liver take it with Milk Thistle extract.
And it's 500 mg NAC 3-times per day and every day. I have for years and it's one of my favorite supplements.
Does it reduce estrogen as being an Amortization inhibitor?
Negative. Animal studies show us that Berberine inhibits the growth of and provides Androgen Receptor downregulating effects specifically in prostate tumor tissues. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3154574/
I've had the vaccines and the booster. Can I still take quercetin?
I would give it a couple of weeks between the vaccine and using Quercetin. But after that it should not be a problem.
Is it contraindicated for women who have had breast cancer of any kind?
Annie, Quercetin inhibits aromatase so if you’re being treated for breast cancer - talk to your doctor before supplementing with Quercetin. It may not be a good idea for you to use Quercetin.
Also used to treat erectile dysfunction.
It has been shown to increase testosterone levels and prevent it from being converted to estrogen. And likely why it may help some men with ED.
What do you think of sunifaram and unifaram ?
Harm, no peer-reviewed clinical studies with humans and not enough authoritative information that either are safe to use or beneficial as a nootropic.
What about quercetin dihydrate? Absorption?
Quercetin is a natural plant flavonoid. And quercetin dihydrate is a synthetic chemical compound.
Our bodies prefer "natural" compounds that it doesn't need to try and convert into a form that it can use.
Thank you for posting this video. It helps knowing there are products that support body defense and immunity boosting.
Have you ever heard of Idebenone? If so, how close is the structure to Quercetin?
Idebenone is a drug first developed by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. So, Idebenone is a drug while Quercetin is a natural flavonoid from several different fruits and vegetables.
Idebenone is claimed to have properties similar to CoQ10.
I’ve been using quercetin and I’ve noticing that me allergies are better. Should I take it at night or during the day?
I take it during the day and once it builds up in your system it should help you through the night.
Raw honey is great for allergies also
Brain EDEMA not enema...ED-ee-ma
Mike, but think of the value if you were able to give your brain an enema every once in awhile. Just to flush things out.
IMO, The main attractive feature of Quercetin as a nootropic is how it's been shown to raise BDNF significantly and consistently in rodents.
Giorgi, you can boost BDNF many ways including by using Quercetin. I think it's most beneficial benefit is its anti-viral capabilities.
Can you only take it for 12 weeks
Blanche, you can take it for as long as it benefits you. And your system including your kidneys and liver are healthy.
thanks
You're welcome!
So this may not be good for women with pcos.
Here is a review of Quercetin and PCOS which may help: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6993490/. But as that author states "further studies are needed".
@@NootropicsExpert Wow, thank you so much.
Is this supplement something you can take every day?
500 mg twice per day. Unless you are treating COVID-19. If that's the case work with your doctor and use 3,000 mg per day until you're clear. But that is ONLY short-term at that dose.
How much Quercetin can we give to 11 yrs old?? He has pollen allergy, nasal polyp and sneezing problem every day..Can u recommend any dose for 11 yrs?? His doc doesn’t have any clue about this..
Reenu there is no long-term safety data available for Quercetin for kids. But one study used a combo supplement containing 70 mg Quercetin per 10 lbs. of body weight for 26 weeks with no negative consequences (pulse.ly/zz5dxo77vf)
It upsets my stomach
Geraldine, then do not use it. Or try it with food. If it still causes you problems then it is the wrong supplement for you.
Is this good after you have a Pfizer shot
Great question. I would avoid using Quercetin for 2 - 4 weeks after getting the Pfizer shot. Because while I do not have any proof of this common sense tells me that Quercetin may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine. But once the vaccine has done its job of creating antibodies it should be safe to start using Quercetin again.
I'm taking Quercetin and I don't feel any different. If anything, I've put on a few pounds since I started taking it (but I've got other crap going on so I don't consider that). Quercetin, to me, is more hype than anything for really real. I've been taking it for more than 2-months.
Quercetin has its place. Like any supplement not everyone should be using it.
I think Quercetin turned my semen green, its been very beneficial but gonna stop taking it to improve sperm health. Has anyone else had this problem? Will it go back to normal once ive discontinued using it long enough? Many report the same issue but there arent many resources for this sort of thing.
studies show that high doses of Quercetin can have a negative effective on sperm quality and sperm count in males. But only when coupled with elevated oxidative stress. Other studies show it helps boost testosterone and sperm quality. But dosage is key and high dosages are not a good idea unless you are using it temporarily to get rid of COVID.
Oh no - you've been squashed. Thanks for the video regardless.
Yep. All new equipment and software that I'm not yet used to using. And that is the result of rendering a video when you're dog tired.
