    I’m a newbie who’s been thrown truly in at the deep end with a hive that’s not been inspected for approx 1 year. I found this video to help me before the inspection. Thankfully I have 2 experienced beekeepers coming over to help me. Im nervous/excited and hoping all will go well later today 🤞

      As I read this I expect you’ve went through it already. Sure happy my video helped and I do hope it went well. Those experienced beekeepers will help get you out of the deep end I am sure.

    Hello Mike , watched what you did , I have the same problem just didn't want to do it. I guess I'll tackle one at a time , I have mixed supers and I have no one to blame but myself ,but like you I will try to fix the problem. You can say that your videos and knowledge has helped one lazy bee keeper . Thanks .

    • @MikeBarryBees
      @MikeBarryBees  4 года назад

      Well, I'm sure glad that you got something from it. One good thing in your case is that they are your supers, so you can just leave them on once you get them above the excluder. These on my hive weren't mine and they have so much crazy comb, and who knows what's been done to them. So I guess in a couple of weeks, I'll take them and freeze them so I can feed them back in the fall. I'll just add my own supers when the flow starts. Thanks for the comment and for watching!!

    Seeing how fast those workers are moving across the frame I'd have been looking to replace that queen.

    Barry, you speak so softly and you have a sweet southern accent so I need to turn up the volume just a little to understand what you are saying. I have to use ear buds so I don't disturb my grandsons and then my ears get blasted! I can turn the volume down fast enough. I had to stop watching you tonight in order to preserve my hearing. Please keep the volume level of the music the same as your voice so I can enjoy music into my 80's

    • @MikeBarryBees

      I have fixed that, but there are still a couple of videos that have the issue. But as of a few days ago, all music has been reduced. Thanks for the feedback.

    Thanks Mike. I enjoy the videos. If I could ask one thing? When you fast forward the video, the music is really loud. I have the volume up to hear you and the music blasts me out. Can the music be turned down a bit?

      I’ll take care of that. I do apologize. I can drop the bar on the whole music clip and I believe that will take care of it. For the next 3 or 4 videos though, I’m not sure which ones have music, but they’ll probably be loud because they are already on RUclips waiting to be released and the projects are moved. So I can’t go back in and edit those. But starting today on any future videos, I will get that volume down. Surely appreciate you mentioning this!! I don’t want to blast it loud like that. Thanks for letting me know!!

    If they run the queen to slim her down to fly with the swarm, she is not laying. So, most likely, that swarm didn’t come from your box or the old queen stayed.

  • @iangodfrey4518
    @iangodfrey4518 3 года назад +1

    Theres far too few bees to have 4 boxes. I would have put all the bees into 1 deep, then queen excluder and put 1 medium on with brood to hatch out.

      @@MikeBarryBees Thank you Mike for another video. I came across a hive just about like another beekeeper and her husband was moving and couldn't take the bees with them so they wanted to know if I wanted them and I went and picked them up and it was just about like the one you have. It was too late in the season to do much with it so I am going to deal with it this spring. After watching your video I may have my work cut out for me, Thanks again Mike.

  • @trevor311264
    @trevor311264 4 года назад

    If they swarmed then there would have been some queen cells in the hive, they don't generally swarm until after the queen cells are capped.

    • @MikeBarryBees
      @MikeBarryBees  4 года назад

      They swarmed. No doubt. The cells were already torn down and there were some old cells on one frame. They probably swarmed a while ago since I didn't do anything with the hive and we had swarms coming off of hives around here the beginning of March. But agreed, if it had been the one in the yard the other day, I would've seen some cells or at least some freshly opened cells. Thanks for the comment!!
