Nunca he leído libros infantiles, pero suelo leer noticias. Empecé a leer libros en español desde hace alcancé un nivel cerca de B1. Para mí, lo importante es leer cosas que te interesa. Si estás interesado en el tema del libro, estás más motivado a comprender el texto.

I use it to give me keyword association ideas, for example, I asked it for an idea to remember "buscar," and it replied, "think of looking for a bus or car." And again - salir. "think of sailing out." As a beginner I try to find easy, slower movies with English audio and Spanish subtitles. I recently discovered "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," which has easier, slower dialog with high quality subtitles. I think subtitles on many shows are computer generated and seem to have mistakes. Your videos are very well done, thanks again.
I hit upon the strategy of listening to the audiobook first, and then diving into the print version. It seems to work because when I listen to the audiobook, I know I'm not going to catch every word, but I get the gist of it. Then, when I go to read the book, I'm already familiar with the contents and so it's not that intimidating. I just read "Los Cuatro Acuerdos" by Don Miguel Ruiz and found it easy to understand. My next goal is to give a synopsis of the book entirely in Spanish to my conversation partner in Bogotá.

This is so similar to how we teachers help children to read. I taught 5th and 6th in a mostly Armenian population. Lots' of English learners. The most common tip I would give them, If you don't know a word, but can understand the paragraph move on.

Mi experiencia es que las lecturas mejores son las que corresponden a sus interéses. Ejemplo: Tengo una tortuga, mi mascota hace 19 años. Leo mucho sobre las tortugas en español, desde instrucciónes de construir y mantener tortugeros y aquarios, revistas científicas sobre la biología de tortugas, etc.
I’m actually trying to change my iPad to Spanish, it gives several options. What would you suggest for a person a bit more than beginner from Estadounidense and quiero mi Sombremesa ( I just watched the video of Spanish words that don’t translate yesterday and remembered these two🎉)
Do you mean what would I suggest to read? If you're at a bit more than beginner level, I would advice short stories, simple magazine articles and even news articles! I hope this helps. =)=)=)

Aha, I occasionally have to help a Hispanic coworker with their scanner devices. I can understand enough to know how to fix the problem. I have to do the same with my deaf coworker. But, at least that's in English. 😂😅😂😅
I don't know how many times non-native English speakers have emphasized reading for being a significant help to fluency. So they must be on to something 😅

I agree! I have a Spanish/English copy of Don Quixote gathering dust, which alone motivates me to work up to Cervantes’ level.
