I watched this movie with my dad back in 2012. He said he wanted to walk the Camino but he was too old and starting to deal with dementia. Fast forward to now, he passed away last year and I have my ticket to France booked for next summer of 2023. Can't wait to walk "The Way" with my father's spirit.
after watching "The Way" when it first came out....My wife and I were inspired to experience the Pilgrimage. This past Wednesday we returned from Santiago De Campostella after completing the Camino Portuguese Spiritual root from Porto to Santiago.....Mahalo's Emelio & Ramone Esteviz....
my favorite thing about this movie was watching it before walking the camino and thinking “okay it’s a movie it’s dramatized it will probably be a lot less eventful when I do it.” and then walking the camino and realizing everything in the movie could have very well happened to us. All the quirky characters you meet and crazy experiences were an understatement if anything. Excited to walk it again soon :)
Hello! I have watched the movie again, or better still, I have walked The Way for the 3rd time today. Yes, it is a spiritual journey/movie. Always new! It touches the Soul, the Spirit! God bless you Martin and all who took part in The Way! Thank you!
One of my favorite movies! Since I watched The Way, I've longed to walk The Camino de Santiago myself, but I unfortunately have two bad knees. Thanks for such a touching, spiritual film.
I just watched Dein Weg (The Way) on Servus TV from Austria in 🇩🇪 in German, enjoyed it much, was the perfect movie for the Karfreitag (Good Friday) Holiday.
My favorite Movie is this One! And the timming of film it was correct. The son Aubery, dies due to the weather, it closed on him, add some lack of misdirection, and he wore eyeglases, those get foggy easily do to steam heat, rain, etc' .. The father had, the same way , of just walking on....great film. Now, with allot of Pelegrinos....most likely, he wouldn`t gotten Lost. Get it. Nice scenery, am sure year around it must be beautiful. I hope to make it there in 4 weeks. To walk a couple miles! This film has a hearth` thank you
My father passed away and it was obviously pretty intense. Saw this movie and it hit a cord but in different ways. My sister showed up a few days later with my father's ashes in a scallop shell, completely random, she's never seen the movie. So I told her well, I know what I'm doing.
@@GenXer333 corona virus shut everything down in March and my plane was in may. I ended up hiking around Kauai for 60 days and I received the peace, clarity, direction, and faith that I was seeking from my Camino journey. However, this journey is still something I really want to do.!

I walked the Camino 3 years ago. I never went home, I stayed here. Now I live in Leon with my spanish girlfriend and we have a spanish/danish dauther who is 1 year old. I gotta say that this movie disappointed me a little. It does not capture the true spirit of the Camino, and it should not have been filmed in the fall/winter. It should have been filmed in the summer when the Camino is crowded with pilgrims. A great thing about the Camino is that you meet many interesting people with fascinating stories and motivations for walking the Camino. This movie only has four pilgrims in it! But the best part about the Camino is the internal and spiritual journey you undergo as you walk the 800 km. This is difficult to capture in a Hollywood-production. To me, it is much more interesting to hear interviews with Martin Sheen when he talks about the movie and the Camino. He is such a nice and cultivated person. It would have been a much better movie had it been a documentary about him walking the Camino. It could have been even better if Martin had walked with his two sons Charlie and Emilio. That could have been a blast to watch!
I think we all have a very different experience. I have walked the Camino Frances 3 times now. The first time in 2015, having been inspired to do so by the movie. My own experience I have to say was very close to that of the characters in the movie. Not that I expected it to be, who would. But the range of people I met, the spiritual experiences I had and the transformation that took place.........were far more than I could have expected or hoped for. So in my mind at least, the movie captured all of those aspects very well.
It was a movie with totally different message then capturing Camino and the crowd of people there. For that you should watch documentaries not movie :-)
Hey Martin, when are you going to apologize to all the women with miscarriages and non-viable pregnancies who tried to quietly seek abortion care. You protested them outside clinics. You stood there passing judgement. You are such a good man harassing women at the lowest point in their lives where if they did not remove the foetus they would likely die. Women are dying now that abortion care is illegal. I hope you are happy.
i have always said that all actors are so full of shit and themselves. look at me, look at me, oh please everyone just look at me. the words of all actors.
@Allen D Yes, The Way in truth is not about embracing the world but overcoming it through the trials and tribulations to arrive at a destination with eyes opened. Jesus overcame the world and said I am the way, the truth and the life. This is the higher calling, the pilgrims progress.
This movie is so comforting and beautiful. I watch it so often and it always brings me peace. Thank you Martin and Emilio.

This movie was great. It had a very Dante Alighieri, Divine Comedy feel as well.
Great movie.
Greatest Pilgrimage
I want to do the walk.
7:50 - they must have done, because St Jacques La Mecque (2005) filmed inside the cathedral and that was a drama-comedy movie.
