Hi, if you want to do it in different size, first you need to measure the photocard size. After that only can adjust the holder size and make sure the base slightly bigger than the photocard measurement. You can measure time to time while crocheting the base to make sure can fit the photocard. Welcome🥰. Ya you can use small ply yarn to create this. You can adjust the chain and the row to get your prefer size.

how did you get 2 yarns? to crochet them both? i only know how to use 3 at a time
The method I learned is to use the yarn from the middle pull of your skein and the standard pull yarn wrapped around your skein together.
