A peek at Kevin Deal's new music room. And news about a crazy trade-in event that can make impossible dreams come true.
Glad to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor Kevin. You have worked very hard on the industry! You deserve all the joy you have achieved
I love your personality and energy for audio. Glad business is good.
I am a customer and you really do give great service. Thank you Kevin. I only got an SBooster and a few tubes and a bad ass little MM Mofi cartridge but everytime your staff was the best on the phone.
Kevin’s shop is legit. Great speakers for all budgets ! I highly recommend making a new speaker or audio purchase from Upscale Audio ! Fast and meticulous shipping included for free !
Dude!!! Wow. Glad all is going well.. shows what great customer service, passion, and quality can do in any market! Your team is legit, your selections are amazing, and your prices are great.. love getting my gear from you. keep up the good work!
I would love to have those speakers so I can sell them and by a pair of $5,000 speakers , pay off my house , buy a car that's not 17 years old , but I do want a 56 Thunderbird ,and still have $160,000 left . Love Kevin & his gang. Always someone there to help.
That means someone has to pay for those speakers first and give them to you for free then!!
Congratulations.
That is a lively room that are easy to pick up only by listening to your voice. I also have slanted ceiling that are great.
Most likely you will have long decay times.
Keep us updated on what you are doing acusticaly to that room.
Maybe we can demystify some acustic vodo and get some sales of bass traps, Helmholtz resonator, broadband absorbers, membrane absorbers and other types of room treatment.
Then audiophiles can hear what their equipment can do for the first time. When the decay times are ~300 ms instead of ≥ 1000 ms.
When you have for example a 50 Hz tone that left the speaker ≥ 1000 ms ago. That smearing over and makes it hard to destlinguish other frequencyies that are playing when "old" already played frequencies are still bouncing around in the room after 1000 ms it have left the speaker..
Congrats.. Enjoy them.. After 43 years you deserve them.
In the world of audiophiles this is how the other half live.
Audiophile Heaven
To be fair he has been doing this for a long time and it’s his passion. Great honest salesman.
lol now I feel inadequate with my new Legacy Focus SE!
All I can say seeing the joy on the face of this man is that I am glad for him.... I don't know much about these speakers but I am sure they sound heavenly
Congratulations Kevin on owning a pair of my absolute dream speakers I envy you!!!!!!!!!
FOCAL 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm so excited for you sir!!!
You reached the top of the HIFI mountain 👍👌🤘
I had my Dynaudio C4's (5') in a similar attic room with acoustic tile ceiling, carpeting, and no walls. With no other treatments it was the best listening room I've ever had.
Gratulation Kevin,great speakers.I heard them
on the Highend Munich show,on of the best.
Wow..beautiful speakers....love the color
.can only imagine how great they must sound. Thanks for sharing...your passion is infectious 👍👍
Beautiful. I helped my dealer assemble a pair of these. The top module is easily 150 lbs.
For some reason I trust you. You are passionate about your craft for sure. Thank you.
Congrats Kevin! Fantastic system!
Love Focal. If you spend 5% of what you paid for the system on room treatment, they might sound pretty good.
That was a lot of hard surfaces. Echo hell.
You guys are so dumb. Echoes are bad myth is last decade. Room resonance is bad. Resonance is NOT echo.
Awesome 😎 enjoy those puppies, congrats and yes hard work pays off and any one can get their things in life if you put their mind to it.
man, I want them! I have the vintage Mezzo Utopia.
I want them also I have the Bose mini mites for trade.
Whoa!!!! Incredible. Thanks for sharing.
“I bought a Prima Luna dialogue premium preamp from Upscale audio 2 years ago and I can vouch for what Kevin says. My experience was exactly as he describes.
I cant imagine how they sound!
I would love to see a unboxing video & how you got them into your room considering how much those beast weight! Lucky guy!
200W Class A! I hope the room has good aircon XD
Winter is coming in a few months so electric heater wouldnt be a problem for him 😂😋
As a stereo geek I can TOTALLY appreciate your geek-out

Loudspeaker/Room Interface
well, you've got the loudspeaker...
Great room, it's beautiful, totally befitting the Utopias!
(granted, there may be some treatment not obvious to one viewing this vid, but any indoor listening room benefits greatly from LF damping to even up decay times and increase bass clarity and resolve detail.
Also, that ceiling angle directly behind and above the speakers will have a pronounced effect focusing energy back to the listener. May be beneficial, may be detrimental)
Beautiful room but in serious need of treatment. You can hear echo in the video, surprised he hasn't mentioned at least running a frequency sweep and how the speakers react to that room placement.
I listened to these speakers in an hi fi show playing child in time from deep purple, they sounded great but I prefer BY FAR JBL Tannoy or Klipsch heritage because they sound more real.
@ margix - Yeah and something from the Klipsch Heritage line is actually somewhat affordable for the common man! Those Focals cost more than a nice house in many areas of the country. I happy for Kevin but most people will never be able to afford such luxury, especially during a global pandemic and economic meltdown.
I'm a TAD guy myself.
Yeah focal are way vibrant/their treble is way more accentuated & hence they can kill someone with their sharpness & most of the people don't want that.. 😂
A gershman/legacy/silverline/pbn will be way way better than these & more people will enjoy that type of sound
I heard Focal home audio speakers and IMO they don't compare with the Professional Line, which is less expensive, perform great with built-in amplifiers. Check out the top of the line which MAPS around $4K/pair. These include Class AB amps for each speaker(Tweeter, Mid, Bass), have equalization capabilities which allow you to adjust for your room. What you want to look for is the Mid-Field monitors, which are usually for the Brass that sit in the back of the studio, rather than on top of Near Fields.
Those speakers are works of art! Congrats!
That has to be the World Record for compensating for something!
I'm fascinated with focal but I'm so happy with my goldenears and their customer service has been amazing to me. But I don't know how long I can go before I succumb to the lure of the focals.
Grande utopia with 200w class a power, must be such a sweet sound ❤️
Hopefully we're talking 200W only going to the mids/highs section, because this subwoofer will need way more than 200W.
Like way way more.
@MAD GRUMPYMAN No they're not self powered. And they need a ton of power, just like any big woofer.
@MAD GRUMPYMAN Yea, I know, this power plug is misleading.
I think most people do not remotely have the setup to play with Grande Utopias the proper way to be honest. That's the sad truth. Nor the space (what we see in the video is nowhere near the space you need to have the Grande Utopia).
If you want to play with that kind of setup you need bi-amping (with 2 real different amplifiers, or well, more 4 to be exact) and some sort of active crossover before that (like a Trinnov system, also french lol).
Some fine amplifiers will power those with 200-300 watts of power of course. You will still get decent performance. And it really doesn't matter that much in this kind of small space anyway. But if you really want to benefit from this 16" bass driver, you need more power. More in the thousands watts. This is why Focal rates those up to 1500w recommended amp. "recommended", not max.
Just look at some of the finest subwoofers currently made, like Funk Audio or others, and see how much power they put inside those (the bass units of the Grande Utopia is essentially a passive subwoofer). You can also check the data-bass.com to see what kind of power is placed into those subwoofers to get an idea. If you want to reach really low frequencies at some decent power (which is the sole purpose of getting the Grande Utopia, otherwise all the other Utopias will perform just as well) you need a lot of watts, that's simply how it works.
@MAD GRUMPYMAN that’s what women are for, these will buy you 20+ years of goosepumps on command
Le rêve absolu! 😍😍😍
Kevin those Grand Utopias are gorgeous!
Is it just me, or did you also see stackable laundry machines at first?
Wow. Just.wow! I've a pair of Elegia headphones which I love but this is something else! Happy listening!
I got my Chorus 726 the other day, not even remotley close, but its still focal, and i love them!
And probably more natural sounding.
@@jrg1man1978 Have nothing to compare with, but they sounds great :D
@@Riffen they sound more natural than new 900 series
Uncle Kevvy, feel good about yourself and ship all your audio equipment from that room to me here in Canada for Christmas. Oh the joy you will feel !!!
My dream car does not approach the cost of those. Lol. Enjoy !!
Who needs a car anyway..
Take care of your health exercise and eat healthy food not to spend all your time with all those material things,They,re not that important in life.Believe me.
Shut up Dr Phil
Wow!!! that's my dream speaker Kevin!
Arnnie Nudel"s Infinity/Genesis, makes the World sound happy.
To quote Kevin those are big MoFo's. Thanks for making hifi shopping fun.
Congratulations Kevin upon your new home and your exquisite system. Keep safe and enjoy!
As a Tannoy and SET tube amp guy myself how someone would choose a Wilson over Focal's is beyond me as they really are a world class manufacturer. Use them in good health Kevin!
@Lloyd Stout Really? My best friend was one of the biggest Wilson dealers, I've owned a couple of pair because I wanted to like them and the fact I got them on accommodation, they are beautifuly constructed but in the end just don't sound like real music. As Kevin said Focal is a real engineering firm that produces all their components and Wilson isn't. In the end high sensitivety done right is what I believe it takes to get closer to a live performance anyway..
I love these Focal speakers, and though it's nice, you don't need super high end kit to make them sound awesome.
200k for the speakers.. that is highend.
Your listening room looks amazing!! Do you mind to upload a sound demo of Focal Utopia with Pethos amps in your room?
It's a Dream of Loudspeakers, fantastic
Freaking awesome! You need to tell us how the place was put together (assume you built), wiring, floors, insulation etc. And any treatments that go in.
I'll _suffer_ with my Kanta No2's and Balanced Audio amp/preamp for a while I think. Why don't I have neighbors like you? I'm the only one around here with French speakers and a British bike.
That tweeker really must love his music.
I would love to see a video on the pathos inpower mk2/incontrol mk2???? Thanks
Fabulous speaker’s. I would work my knackers off for them.
If I had any let
One has to seriously question the placement of speakers , especially massive ones costing $250,000 , in front of windows.
TerryM these aren’t rear ported. Think Cornwall or KHorn...
sewines doesn’t matter if it’s ported the cabinets will resonate regardless
@@MichelLinschoten true
Just jaw-dropping.
Man o man, I'm drooling 🤤
Congrats Kevin I can only imagine the sound coming from them..
Wife: You paid wha'?! Either those speakers go... or I go! 🤔
Bye Wife 👋
I want to apply a housekeeper job in your house.
Full time or part time housekeeper? 😀 Just treat his system like it's his, not yours!👊😉
I just purchased Focal Maestros Evo that I am going to power with two Primaluna HP monos with KT 150’s. With a Primaluna Dialogue pre amp. Will let you know how the setup sounds when they arrive.
daverolson A Chinese amp’s for Focals ?! Interesting!
@@JohnDoe-sp5jd FRENCH AND CHINESE WITH RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH TUBES.
Beautiful colour on the speakers
I hope you had the Contractor that built your house do a Kiler Soundproofing on your outside walls!!
By the Way Richard is a Great Asset to your Company!
My gosh how very cool Kevin!
would love an opportunity to just hear these in person.
Would love to hear about your listening room's construction.
This man just spent 260 thousand dollars just to hear clean music.
If that isn't dedication, I don't know what is...
I'm very disappointed Uncle Kev, it doesn't matter how much you're stereo costs, rule number 1 is room acoustics!! All I hear is one biiig echo.
He is right!
He isn't even there, it's a green screen. I think Kev might just be still at the Focal Factory. They never let him out.
@@DesignVisStudios even with the reflection on the boxes?
@@o.walker1370 Probably not really - it's just the lighting on him makes it look as such... unless it's a 3d rendered prop ;-)
windows right behind the speakers....yikes
There is no world where these are worth their price.
But people pay that kind of money for shiny little rocks and don't even do anything.
Congrats on your new speakers! They look cool! do a sound demo.
Do you really receive the great Grand Utopias or are we viewing a dream sequence you had a last week?
I would have bought these in a heartbeat if only these came with kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. 😂
Awesome 😎
He might become "that guy" to the neighbors...You know the one where they can hear your system inside their home.
Enjoy.
Well that's what happens when you get old and hearing diminishes. Come to think of it, I used to pump ridiculous levels when I was young too.
I had a room with slanted walls/ceilings like that years ago that I dedicated for my 2-channel setup. Had Dunlavy 5's in there, Mark Levinson front-end, etc. Could never get the performance up to what I heard out of the big Dunlavy's in other environments. No matter what setup I tried, the room limited imaging, soundstage, and overall performance. Even tried DSP at one point. Those angles just add an unpredictable element that I never want to deal with again.
Would love to hear these in person.
That must sound amazing! Congrats!
I’m still waiting for your Naim Uniti Nova review.
Any more videos on these ?
Oh how Ive been waiting to see a video on these
Hello from France !!😉 the better model in the Focal Utopia, is the Scala Evo....more easy to use !! And a beautiful soundstage for the " price" 😃
Luv 20.7s all vertical sonics 😊
Happy for you Kevin. Can’t wait to hear them after your room is ready. Enjoy 🍺🎸😊
Man I need to get into hifi sales. His listening room could fit like six of my apartments in it….actually my apartment could fit into one of his speakers 😂
One of these days. Just one of these days! 👌
Audiophile N"5048732. That spend the budget of his life in speekers. And CERO 💰💰$ in acoustic tratetment. 👌🏻
If you look at the wall behind those speakers, the room is clearly a work in progress. Kevin has been in the industry long enough to know what needs to be done in his own room, ffs - watch any of his vids in the Upscale Audio listening room and you'll see plenty of acoustic treatment. We're not looking at the owner of a Best Buy showing off his new toys to the Instagram crowd - Kevin has *forgotten* more about audio than you or I will ever know.
Ammmmaaaaaazzzziiiinnnngggggg!
I would personally have them closer to side walls for the sound to be more natural. Good speaker!
Yes finally!
How do these compare to the MBL’s on the super high end audiophile range?
I am speechless! WOW !!! Only in my dreams. Congratulations and I hope you got your dealer discount!
The mind is easily manipulated 🤦♂️😐
I once ordered the Maximum Grande Utopia Ultimate but at 60 feet they were one foot too tall for my bathroom.
Beautiful room beautiful setup I’d love
To come to your house
Focal 💚🇫🇷
Hi Kevin, could I come live with you guys? I wouldn't take up much room and I do windows and dishes. :)
Now that is truly funny Jim, if you need a roommate, I'm in!
@@512bb I 'm hoping Kevin calls. I'll let you know. :)
Thanks Jim, I'm going to pack a few things and wait for your call!
@@512bb Sounds good. :)
I would guess the break in time for those speakers was 75 to 100 hours. Thanks Kevin.
Exactly Kevin. My system is in my bedroom too. I put it in there so my kids don't destroy my system. I got them their own for the living room so they can still enjoy their own music. Glad you were able to get your bucket list speakers. Happy Listening 🤘
I guess when u retired this is where u spend your money that u work for for many years and just sit a home all day long and stare at it day and night and enjoy the vinyl records with some expensive whiskey and a cigar.
You forgot hookers and loneliness, but still solid A- comment
Much love!!! ✌
