  • Finally was able to get out and start chasing them fish on the river. Between current and trash it was definitely tough. But I was able to find a few.

      @@mickaburkhart14 we are starting to fish tidal water with strong currents . I have yet to know how to catch cats when the tide is running strong . When it slacks down to change the bite is all over . This is mainly channel cats .

    That was one of those Illinois river channel cats. ive caught some big ones up here around the peoria lock and damn one close to 15lbs. I think they get a little bigger here on account of little to no blue cats to eat them and the food supply. Them bigguns have gave me some of my best fights. Id hate to have a 50+lb blue fight and run like a big channel cat. Great video glad to see you out on the hunt thats my favorite part is having to work for them.

    Your rod stiffness plays a big part on the suspended bite. Circle hooks need a stiffer rod to hook up.

    • @mickaburkhart14
      @mickaburkhart14  2 месяца назад

    I don't know what kinda whisker seeker hook you used... But if the hook has an offset to it the hook up ratio will be better. I drift and suspend fish with the bass pro catt Maxx 9/0. That particular hook has no offset. So I do it myself. Either left or right it doesn't matter. I still get hooked up.

    • @mickaburkhart14
      @mickaburkhart14  2 месяца назад +1

      Then your luck suspending is way better that mine. I just can't seem to to keep them hooked up on a circle hook. But I did also move to a stiffer rod and maybe that's the difference 🤔
