    River fishing is so different than our reservoir fishing. In the summer, we have a defined thermocline that you have to suspend fish above. We set dept many times at 10 feet in 50 foot of water. Not much structure fishing, have to find bait in open water and cover lots of water.

    • @mickaburkhart14
      @mickaburkhart14  2 месяца назад

      @@troybucher6383 yeah we really don't get a thermocline here. But it has happened a couple times. We usually have current at times during the day.

    Great video Micka, excellent info and tips.
    Something I have found that helps me a lot on my home water is hitting the mark key on my Helix and also on Navionics on my tablet (on the few occasions I actually remember to do it) along with an electronic diary. After enough trips to a given area it can show me patterns of times, depths, water temps, locations, water flow from the dam, etc..
    To be honest I don't actually do the info recording very often as I usually don't care, I just want to relax on the water, but when I do it I have found that it does help to put fish on the line.
    Again EXCELLENT video.

    Well Done Micka! Best Catfishing RUclips channel for actual Catfish anglers.
    I've been dragging for 2 years now myself. From my experience, your content spot on in every way. You just taught me for my style of fishing over here on Watts Bar (which does flow albeit slow), I should probably be dragging more slinky weights when I know I will mostly likely not get hung up to get that bait down further. My only differences in preference is due to style - I prefer 60lb-80lb braid mainline - only want to change my mainline once a year, want no stretch, and if I get a nick on a single strand that I don't detect, still okay. I also differ on planer board clips. Wesley's boards are superior in every way, but I prefer the lock down style for a few reasons:
    -I rarely if ever get tangled in the other lines. If I get outside board hookups, I might crank the inboard board a bit, but that is it.
    -If I get a hang up, the board pulls underwater, I just release the spool, the board tends to pop it up and gets me unhung.
    -If I were fishing by myself, I would for sure use clamps that release, but I am always fishing with someone, usually charter clients but sometimes family members, I can have the person reeling in the fish keep pressure while I release the board.
    I don't know why you are not well over 50k subscribers. Your content is superior, you are not putting on a big sales push, you are not "in the weeds" on stuff that really does not matter, and you are also a cool dude and a vet like me. You never put on "airs" saying this is the best way like you are superior, you say this is what works best for me. Right on brother. If you ever get over this way, let's go fishing!
    I have been working on fishing reels (service/repair) for 30 years. Penn reels are still supporting reels that they made 20-40 years ago, can get parts easy. Shimano, Daiwa, and cheaper China brands have no parts for reels that went out of production 2 years ago. Your Fathoms really are lifetime reels and are easy to service, and although dagum expensive, will be cheaper in the long run. Sorry for the long comment, you are the best.
