Designer Suzanne Dimma takes us inside her client’s elegant home where classic decorating reigns supreme. Inspired by the cult-favorite kitchen in Eyeswoon founder Athena Calderone’s Brooklyn brownstone, see how Suzanne replicated the look with off-black cabinets, herringbone floors, a marble floating shelf and of course - plenty of brass. The elegant foyer is another Eyeswoon-inspired design, featuring checkerboard floors, a black stained staircase and applied molding. “We had to make sure the house maintained the Old World feeling but modernized it with the updated kitchen,” says Suzanne.

great example how you can make minimalistic style with class and not boring looking. people who pile up stuff in their houses and every counter ,surface of the house has so much stuff, they always say that minimalistic is boring. to me ,less is always more, its tastefully done, interesting and also calming. Too much things in the home makes it messy, busy and almost always look more like a furniture store than a home. just love the clean lines and how they got this antique feel to it with a modern vibe. Timeless. Well done, one of my favorit spaces :)

Not my personal taste, but beyond gorgeous...!!
Great volumes , beautiful arches , all unified and enhanced by very good wall paint . I would only add some more practical details , such as storage at the eye level , generally some storage surfaces, especially in the bathrooms. And instead of this gorgeous but very delicate marble in the kitchen the designer could easily choose a more technological but not less beautiful modern material . It would not harm the vintage feel of the house .

I hate it when they put in so much woodwork.....and then paint all of it. I love a beautiful woodgrain with classic features from the Arts and Crafts movement.

Have always liked that kitchen. The rest of the house is a bit too bland for my taste but it does look very soothing.
Designed every bit of thirties character completely out of the place. Looks exactly like a million other places...nondescript, white, white, and more white.

Of course beautiful, but the kitchen is a complete recreation. Why not make it your own by changing the marble color, swapping out the sconces, or choosing another knob shape? I mean anything that showcases the talent of the firm and your own interest. I will never understand copying everything someone else created to suit their life.
Because the owners wanted this and it makes them happy. It's not about you. It's a kitchen. not an entire life recreation. 🙄
Really lovely..I was a bit surprised with what looked like a bed in the living room..but realised it was a backless sofa..with a white pillow.
I didnt know cream was a moody color. Wish the paint colors could be listed.
Was thinking the same thing. That term is usually used to describe much darker colors, but I like that color and would like to know what it is as well. Thinking about using a similar color in my den.
