I will be praying for your sisters family, extended family and friends. We rejoice when our loved ones trade the old cross for a crown, but in our humanity, we grieve their loss on this earth. But, we look forward to being reunited with them. Praise the Lord for His Love and Grace❤️🙏🏻❤️
Thank you GOD for your blessings on my life and for sustaining me during these days 🙏 🙌 ✨️ ... ... ... LORD you know my situation and I am so looking forward to seeing you JESUS ... ... soon . 🙏 AMEN.
When God brings up the same subject repeated twice, it is important. when it is 4 times I am listening and sharing how important it is. While picking up donuts for sunday school the Oak Rridge Boys sang The old rugged Cross, playing on Enlighten Radio then the Wilburn and wilburn said we dug out this old song "Had it not been... for the old rugged cross." I think we are gettin' ready for some tears. Pastor Paradee's sermon Mar 13 was The Cross. With tears running down his face he could hardly finish his sentences. Yes this is the major theme for Easter.
Thank you Mark so much for sharing all these wonderful videos with us. Which I watch often because of the blessings I get from hearing it. Love hearing everyone of you singing about Jesus. GodBless ❤❤❤❤

Hi Mark. I hope you're well. I was watching some old videos of yours and came across this. I enjoyed and love how you all sung this song beautifully. Michael English has one of those voices that he sings like silk. Also, this is one powerful song to sing. Plus, your voice here blends so well with the others. By far this is one of my favorite songs.
Just found Mark Lowery and Gaither band about 6 months ago.. So glad I did. Love Michael English, Wes and all the one that sang with them. They are great. Not I look for all their music ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow..You are wonderful..God bless ...I love every song because you sing with the heart..everybody is great..Glory is to God for ever...You sound Like angeles...👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
I wrote I'll Trade The Old Cross For A Crown with Russ Taff in 1970. It was written in French and translated by my aunt Vestal Goodman. The song was regularly sung by the Teen Tones singing group where Russ Taff got his start.
I wonder who edited my comments? I'll Trade The Old Cross For A Crown was written on Good Friday in 1980. Shawn Obrien and I wrote the chorus and first verse in Gaelic. Ivan Parker wrote the second verse in Spanish and then we worked to translate the chorus into Spanish. My mother translated the song into English.
i remember singing this song with my groups tresls and L's In harmony for the first time it was so amazing but its a pity we never recorded most of our songs that we had done.. its such an amazing inspiration n words that fills our hearts ..Michesl ur d bomb!!!
Lyrics I shall not bear the cross thro’ yon city When the burdens of life are laid down. When I knock on the portals of Heaven I will trade the old cross for a crown. Refrain Yes, I’ll trade the old cross for a crown, When the burdens of life are laid down. When the pearl gates for me shall swing open, I will trade the old cross for a crown. Tho’ the cross oftentimes has been heavy, And oft fortune on me seems to frown, But how happy I’ll be over yonder When I trade the old cross for a crown. Refrain Oft, my bark has been tossed on life’s billows, And each wave tries my vessel to drown. But no storm cloud can harm me forever When I trade the old cross for a crown. Refrain Ev’ry cross that I bear for my Savior Will at last, when He calls, be laid down, And my sorrows will all be forgotten When I trade the old cross for a crown. Refrain
Shawn Obrien and I wrote I'll Trade The Old Cross For A Crown. The song was written in Flemish on Good Friday of 1997. It was translated into Frisian by my mother.
I have suppressed memories and can't always remember the exact circumstances of when a song was written. I can tell I Will Trade The Old Cross For A Crown was written in Spanish and I know I was one of the co-writers. This performance by the Gaither Vocal Band was in the early 1980s. I think maybe I wrote the song with Mark Catenzero and Ivan Parker in 1983. That was the year I went through Confirmation in Los Angeles. Confirmation was on Easter Sunday.
For my sister who passed away on Wed..prayers for family. She traded her cross for a crown
Praying for you and your family

Oh will you look at that, Mark Lowry actually has a longer attention span than I have. O scary thought. NICE SONG.
Suidwes my land
Beautiful harmonies. Don't care for jazzing up the old hymns though.
I say jazz it up put some life in those old religious dittes.
@rickkilgore1147 These are sacred songs not "ditties"
Come on Sarah, its just a song,a little life wont demoralize it.
