Holy moly, Monique. Pile Three here. That is exactly, exactly what happened. The last night we were together, we didn't know it was going to be the last time necessarily, but it sure seemed like we were watching each other slip away. ((And it was the last time)). We were both reeling in pain, looking at each other, and it was SO painful. The saddest thing I've ever experienced. I don't think either of us even fully understood why it was happening, but suddenly, the "we" was separating into to separate entities all of a sudden. It's been a year and I haven't fully healed, but only just recently have I started to understand it all, and I'm seeing the lessons and I'm seeing the purpose. But it still hurts. At first I thought you were talking about my mom, but the minute you started shuffling I was absolutely positive it was my late partner. I asked him last night that we needed to find a way to make contact. I asked God to thin the veil between us. When he passed away in critical care, there was not a dry eye there. Even the doctor started crying when she told me she couldn't do anymore. She said that she had never seen such a strong bond between 2 people. The nurses all admired our love for one another. They kept telling me that I was such a loving person, but I assured them that it was what he had given me that made me finally able to love someone. Unfortunately, the last days together were full of fear for his health and my emotions were flying high, then we had to separate for 3 months due to visa issues and the next time we saw each other was at the hospital. A month later he passed away. the last time we hugged at the airport, there was a voice in my head saying '' what if this is the last time we see each other. To top it off, we had a horrible fight the night before on our way to the hotel close to the airport.
