Nice to hear the Northern accent again. I started my 45 year footplate career at Kings cross and we would venture into those strange lands "up North". 😃
The amount and depth of knowledge the driver possessed about the line was incredible what a professional, I was very impressed.
Fantastic. An expert, demonstrating his expertise in a clear manner, without fuss. The best sort.
An excellent resource! As a former train driver, it was like going through road learning school again! Thanks!
Part 2 of a great video, atmospheric, educational and a real insight into the operations on the line. Many thanks.
A great video........... thanks very much for posting.

A most interesting view along with part 1 of the NYMR Esk valley operations. Especially with Chris's [the Driver] commentary highlighting various aspects of the route. it's also most interesting how various of the bridges embankments and cuttings between Grosmont and Battersby were built to accommodate a second track. As this second line was never installed other than as passing loops in some stations. The Grosmont Whitby section was originally double track, up until the eighties as a left over from the old days when the line ran through to Pickering and Rillington on the Scarborough line.
Great,
Nice to see a rat out on a run. Great video.
Is there one of these for the actual NYMR? Ive bought the route learning DVD but its nice to get the commentary as well
That driver sure has a lot of knowledge when it comes to driving the loco along the Esk Valley Line! Though it is hard trying to understand what he is saying to the signaller at Whitby at the
I saw a whistle board at
I know this might seem a silly question, but do you have to notify anyone about the sheep on the line and also the dead one
Do you know if NR have a plan to replace some of the old bowstring bridges that have the 10 mph speed restrictions?
Nice to have a run on a 1250 again. Signed and drove these machines for many miles working all classes of traffic in the 70s/80s. Was one of the Vac brake settings selected on brake changeover switch as sounded as though only one compressor running, took a long time to rebuild air Res ? Good locos, many memories, what I wouldn't give for one more driving turn on a 25 !!
