    Was looking forward to this video. The tires were a little of a fight. The inner tube stayed in, without pinching it. Good info on the brakes, about the dots. I was not aware of that. Will look on my bike for that. Will be looking for the next video. Thanks

      It’s a learning process. With the help of the bar clamp, the second tire went together pretty easy.

    I use 2 slightly longer screws in the larger holes to get rims together. Then do all 4 small screws. Then remove the 2 longwr ones and install the hub

      The camera on my iPhone had been giving me trouble over the past couple months. The video would randomly start shaking, even though the phone was perfectly still. A day or so after my last video, it quit all together. I still haven’t replaced it.

    I think I'd use a couple of longer bolts to get the wheels halves together, then go back and install the short ones.

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  3 года назад

      Yeah, I thought about it also, after I was already committed with the shorter ones. 🤣 Using the bar clamp, the second one went together in a fraction of the time of the first one.

      I use the hub bolts to get everything lined up and sinched downs then put the rim bolts in. Works pretty well for me.

    • @zachsiebers5742
      @zachsiebers5742 3 года назад +1

      You can also use a clamp on the tire so you don’t have to worry scarring up the rim. It should give you enough play to at least get the nuts and bolts in place.

    A soak in evaporust will remove any loose paint and all the rust as well.

    Great videos! Do you have a video on how to remove the bearings off the front hub. I’m having trouble removing one bearing from one of the sides.

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  3 года назад +1

      I don’t have a video on that, but I use a long punch inserted from the opposite side and a hammer.

  • @Mr10usdad

    Mike have you ever had this problem? When I tighten down the front wheel in my 1971 CT70 the wheel does not spin freely. I have new bearings, new brake shoes, and all the correct spacers. I will say that the bearing does not spin with my finger. It needs more force. I am at my wits end.

    • @MiniBikeMike
      @MiniBikeMike  3 года назад

      It certainly sounds like the bearings are in a bind. When you replaced the bearings, was there a spacer tube inside the hub? It’s there to keep you from cranking down on the bearings and binding them up. If your bearings aren’t spinning free by hand, something is up with them.

    • @Mr10usdad
      @Mr10usdad 3 года назад

      @@MiniBikeMike there was a spacer tube in there. I was sure to put it back in. I ordered some oem bearings just to make sure.

    What colour code did you use to paint the brake drums,?
    Did you just sprayed them?

    • @MiniBikeMike

      Rattle can spray paint. VHT is the brand. The color is: Universal Aluminum

      Sorry for the delay in responding, just saw this. No, i don't use any clear. Parts i painted years ago seem to be holding up well.

    Always a PITA putting the tires on these wheels, I'd rather do a CB 750 than a CT 70.
