I've put 10k on my 04 so far. It's nice all around, but damn it's slow. I'm hoping with upgrading the IMA battery to lithium and doing a current mod to the IMA system will wake it up a little.
Yeah I was looking at that, but I can't imagine that even an upgraded battery would add enough power to make it fun. The fun with it is in trying to hypermile yourself north of 50mpg, not looking for more power. I wonder though if with enough all gas Civic suspension parts it could become the ultimate momentum daily driver car.
In theory yes, using Lifepo4 battery cells. there are currently kits for the older Priuses. hopefully someone makes a kit for the older civics, but I will probably make something myself.@@suad01
I just missed a beautiful one owner five speed at auction this past week sold for $1400 with 175,000 miles. It was showroom condition. I could kick myself.
Hello , Can you assist me for Honda civic Hybrid IMA 1.3L 2004 manual , when Red Battery light No Charge/ Discharging issue What can I do ? Plz assist me
I also own 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid (stick-shift). Thank you for a nice video. My car also runs fine and performance are also fine 42miles/gallon, it seems that IMA battery is working. But my 12V battery often dies and I have to recharge/jump start. According to the battery specialist, this is the sign of the beginning IMA battery failure. Is it true?
Ive had a 05 hch1 manual for 7 years, had the 12v battery replaced like 4 times. I just do not think normal 12v batteries are good for this car. For the ima battery there is a video on youtube where you can bench charge all the cells and it worked great for my battery. Was only like $40 in parts.
Yes and no. It has a traditional 12v starter motor, it can start, run and drive without a working IMA system, BUT... it doesn't have an alternator. The IMA system is responsible for charging your 12v lead acid battery, so it'll slowly discharge until the car stops running. You'd need to keep the 12v on a battery tender every time you're not driving it, and you likely wouldn't be able to go far. I've heard there might be a way to disconnect a specific harness in the IMA system to make the motor behave like an alternator and charge the 12v even with a dead hybrid battery, but I'm not certain.

I'd say good first car. I personally love mine -- I consider it fun to drive because it's light and nimble in the corners, but don't expect hair raising performance. 0-60 is about 12 seconds
310,000 miles on my 2005 HCH-I 5 speed manual. Three cross country drives at 45mpg. Just replaced the original clutch.
How much was the clutch replacement? I think mine is going out slowly
@@MiserableAmerica The clutch kit off Rock Auto was $150. A friend of the family in town gave me a deal for $350 for the labor.
@@ajustin614 Hell yeah. Alright. Thank you :)
Hii was it hard to have the clutch changed
No one wants to change mine
Had mine for 5 years now, good car.
Honda never made a better car than the 2005 honda civic hybrid😭
Don’t have the manual version, but the 03 & 04 hybrid is super reliable!
How does he say it’s not rare 😭 it literally is rare to find a manual one
2 week update, copped one for $1000
@@Im_The_Slepyooo I got a 03 hybrid manual for 1.5k!! 218k driven and I'm loving it's smoothness
He's in California any type of hybrid isn't rare.
Just got one for 2,500 with under 200k miles on it and I’m feeling pretty good abt it 😄
I just bought this same car, $500. Gotta replace the Battery.

Changing from NiCad to Lithium? Is that even possible?

K swap you'd probably have to throw a another 10 k in in to boost it but it would be kickass

Is a 2005 coupe manual with a rebuilt engine with 1500 miles in really good condition exterior and interior for 5k worth it in your opinion?
How many miles on the chassis and transmission?
